  1. Around 7:30 it was the most lucid Levine has ever been. Haugh cut down a caller from Naperville yesterday that was saying the same thing. There are more then a few hosts on that station that have a holier then thou take on non-sports related topics that turned me off to them. I listen to them when ESPN is on commercial.
  2. On the SCORE this morning Bruce Levine detailed this exceptionally well for David Haugh (as with Leila yesterday) who could not get past equating a $100M contract to this project....this while he bemoans the cubs not spending $100M+ on Bellinger. What is interesting and I cannot see anything legitimate as it's behind a pay wall is if Reinsdorf assumes this risk based on the franchises equity, he is more inclined to sell the team. Value of the team goes up to $3 to $4B with this deal and he's left with a $1B+ debt that the new owner purchases. Tax hit goes up as well but in the end the profit goes up. HIs heirs can clear a $1B even after his death, thus reducing the double tax hit. Then there is the land he owns by the current GR. What becomes of that? I think that is what the city and state want. I will say this, he is making Kevin Warren look really bad right now if he pulls this off.
  3. WGN's report said the $500M TIF was included as part of the $1B.
  4. The Bears and NFL are building a stadium to host Superbowls and Final Fours. That area is not it. You think parking will be bad for baseball how's football going to work. Also 81 dates v 8/9. The NFLl is not building up neighborhoods, there are not enough dates.
  5. This is an obviously troll that is going to sit here and promote them moving while the Oakland A's can't find a home. The MLB isn't adding a adding a revenue sharing team nor is any city filling a stadium as often as Chicago would long term. $500M of the $1B is already accounted for via TIF funding. The other $500M is probably need to remediate and prepare the site for construction. The difficulty in looking at this project and bifurcating a $100M from this is nto that difficult. The idiots on the SCORE this morning were droning on about this like a couple of morons, This project instantly adds a new neighborhood to the south loop and then expands Bridgeport. I still think the GR site is the new Soldier Field with current Soldier Field being reinvented.
  6. Am I the only one that sees this as the Bears moving to the GRate site and Sox downtown????
  7. This seems like a microcosm of society. Some team of folks put these together and thought they looked good. I don't think it was the goal to save money it was just people being really bad at their job. Whether it was Nike or MLB that helped design, they did not know their market.
  8. Guillen is going to have a field day going off on Grifol all season. Pedro is a moron.
  9. This issue with advancing the potential another year is that all this draft talent turns into real expenses real quick. A lot of the cap space this offseason is earmarked for Jaylon Johnson. The Packers and 49ers have real draft capital. The Bears have high end draft capital but not the quantity needed to fill a roster. Missing on the QB again could cripple them as they have the talent to win but not the QB.
  10. That's going to be the downfall. JR lacks personality and so will his part in this. My hope is JR doesn't have the input on this.
  11. A few things Anyone thinking the $50M is an issue needs to leave the conversation The government will fund infrastructure upgrades that they would for any development. This will be viewed as the taxpayers handing money to JR but they would be wrong. The White Sox and Bears are in a race for ISFA bond issuance Not seen in this message - who own Related Midwest ----- the Miami Dolphins----- who could position themself to buy all this up when JR visits his ancestors ---- Stephen Ross ---- as we learned in the movie JFK ---- follow the money The way JR runs his sports teams has zero correlation with this project. The yelling at the cloud crowd need to understand this. This was proven with the UC deal. The Metra schedule is not that conducive currently. I can walk to it but I still drive and park for free. Make the experience better (schedule wise) and I'm on the train. I also would drag my boat home from Michigan for a ride up the River.
  12. Nolan Ryan threw out the first pitch at age 65 and hit 87. Cease should roll out of bed and hit a 100. Green font needs to be brought back now more than ever.
  13. I'd love to see the ROI on the large deals of the day White Sox won in spectacular fashion on Belle's deal same with Fisk.
  14. Anderson, Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech Kopech sitting out the COVID season still doesn't sit well with me. It's not a COVID stance either there was just something off about that to me.
  15. American Nightmare beside the crime is an amazing look into law enforcement. The reality of the characters are almost better then if portrayed by actors.
  16. No can never have too much pitching. That being said they had 2 outfielders in the organization. After these trades they may have 4.
  17. There is no such thing as a healthy Lavine similar to a healthy Ball. They are going to get fleeced trying to move him. The front office will resign DeMar and run it all back again. They have no choice. The signed Vooch and nobody is taking the Lavine contract so they will draft some player that stinks and blame injuries. They almost got me back into caring prior to the Ball injury. Only difference with this front office and Gar/Par is this front office invested in a legitimate coach. As far as building a roster, Gar/Pax may have been better. I say this in that most of my Bulls knowledge comes from this website.
  18. 1M + reasons why that is more valuable then the player taken with the pick
  19. My point has nothing to do with Bellinger's results it had to do with the idea of Bellinger's results to ticket purchasers. Look at the bulls currently they are content selling a team that was good 2 years ago. The moves three years ago were to fill seats with the idea of winning. They have the salary space for Chapman and Bellinger and are electing to not do it and I am thinking the stadium was and has been the issue for the last two off seasons.
  20. Did the Caleb, Washington thing come up before or after Ben Johnson electing to not go there? Thinking the Washington situation is better than the Bears is vastly different when you have no clue who the QB is playing for on that side of the ball. Sounds like Waldron has no chance of being a HC so it is safe that performance here will result in stability.
  21. I don't think anybody is signing that but dumber things have happened
  22. Stay where they are at. I think 40 years later JR realizes that owning the stadium adds to the team value at a greater % then not. Also 40 years ago he needed to find a home for two teams. If the UC is proving to be a positive investment, he will invest in the South Loop site to own it. Could the ISFA sell him the Cell...maybe, who knows. He sees what Wrigley adds to that franchise and in his waning days sees value in this investment now. The south Loop has blossomed similar to the Lakeview area more so than Bridgeport and Bronzeville so the opportunity there differs. I believe this deal has been in the works for a while and was why he agreed to the rebuild. The window should be open now, This announcement comes out with winning and the Sox are the talk of sports. He hands out some big deals that are covered by the the stadium and off he goes. This failed miserably in every way and is probably why KW and Hahn are gone. KW may have also stepped it in this deal as well..as potentially Hahn as well. It could also explain to me why there are no long term hampering deals on the books. The Balance Sheet is clean and he likes it that way. I think this with Harper and Machado. There is no reason why they do not sign Chapman and move Moncada to 2B in his final prove it season and Bellinger for RF. I understand the long term deal resistance from JR and I could be the fool but this makes some sense as to the management of the team recently. The went from the carrot mentality to driving it into the ground. The carrot mentality pays the Chapman and Bellinger's of the world.
  23. It makes the team easier to watch which is what I kind of like in my team. I had no issue with looking to trade him and getting over slot value for him but to be pissed they didn't make a trade makes no sense to me. Enjoy he is here, if in fact he is here.
  24. Wasn't there chatter about a 3 way deal for Cease? The Brewers make a lot of sense now.
