  1. The White Sox owe nothing to the city and Bridgeport. The development of the area is up to them not the White Sox. You point out blocks of asphalt but that is a draw there, the parking. Yes it's over priced but there are plenty of options. That to me is the main drawback from the south loop site. Adding bars and restaurants in that area doesn't work as you get in your car and leave that site. Other then the big 10-15 games a year you're not getting the crowd. Wrigley works because of the neighborhood. The south loop could as well and extend and draw from UIC, PIlsen, etc. This was what the new ball park was to do. Move the city improvement seen on the northside from the mid 90s on to the south. The loop needs a renaissance and that needs to come from well thought out individuals not what is currently running the city. The Bears could easily move to Bridgeport. Plenty of land and easy to get to.
  2. The issue with the current 35th Metra train stop is that there is nothing close by the stop. This new area is a whole development so that if you are waiting for a train there are options. Also the games ending earlier will help the schedule. The 35th st stop is not as convenient for night games as you'd think. Metra will play ball if there are riders. There are a lot of random surface lots in that area but the congestion will be nuts.
  3. I don't think it is big enough for an 80K+ seat dome.
  4. You know what kids like more then baseball. Trains.
  5. I went to every one since '03. He could be seen around but was not a focus of the event. In later years the event sucked as you had to spend a fortune to get in on Friday and the Palmer House was a horrible venue. There were some really cool aspects to it. I would go to have a few beers and look forward to spring. I gave my tickets away to this event.
  6. Because he is then not the broadcaster, he is a weekday fill in. I think the truth is in the middle someone with this. Stone has paid his dues and is in his waning years. When Benetti was hired I'm sure they were not looking to find a replacement almost every weekend so early into his tenure. Is there a number of actual games he worked last year? If they really liked McKnight, I think they would have tolerated paying Benetti less and work McKnight it more but I think Benetti balked at being paid less.
  7. The team's performance isn't really what drives Soxfest. It is more of a nostalgic event for older fans to connect and younger fans to meet players.. You bring in guys like Thomas, Konerko, Kittle, Fisk, Durham etc. and roll out the manager, GM and some new guys and you have something. This is where Anderson and Giolito would have been ideal the past few years. Reinsdorf would not be there in any case even if they won. I don't think he ever had a role in anything there. Williams and Hahn were focal points and maybe Getz will be that.
  8. I met him at a White Sox ticket sponsor thing in 2018. Has there been another falling out?
  9. Oh and F Moncada and Big Baby. I want to hear nothing from either. These stupid articles are as insufferable as ever. Both must be at the stupid season ticket fan thing.
  10. We will keep Cease. Everyone will stay healthy, play above their potential and we will win 75 games....we also won't trade anyone because we will be within 6 games of first. I am not pleased to think this way.
  11. That's awesome congrats. I wasn't aware that was your role out there. Ignorance led me to believe that at one time you were in the rodeo.
  12. Not to sound like a jerk, but what sports are there in Idaho and how does one make their Hall of Fame, Congrats on the accomplishment.
  13. After the dust settled on this, sadly I think I am going to carry water. I want a PBP guy to be in booth more then Benetti was. Jason's back story was awesome and he was good at his job but at the same time he seemed to only be there more and more on a part time basis. I think the Sox wanted more and Jason wanted less. I like this guy. Hope he is here a long time. I thought Benetti would as well but I think he has Joe Buck aspirations and the Sox were done being a part of it. I still think the Sox are in a bad place as an organization and Brooks Boyer is a fool but I can squint and see their point. the Sox suck so really, why bust Jason's balls.
  14. My guess is players will be Benetendi, Jiminez, Vaughn and a couple pitchers from active roster and then about 20 guys ranging from Fisk to Donn Pall
  15. Which will be bad contracts before the ink drys so I'm not sure that is their play. The risk on Bellinger is he needs to be as good as last year and Chapman is more sizzle then steak at this point is actaully better then I thought. The thing will be, how long to they want to be on the books with him. By signing both now though they win the offseason and get some media roll into spring training which is important but staying with what they have may be the better play if they have faith in the young guys and looking at sustainability. Chapman does line up well with Dansby as does Bellinger but the Dodger trade signifies to me that they are moving in a different direction but who knows.
  16. The sad reality of going with and retaining Eberflus is they will never have a consistent offense. In order to do so they would need to go with a guy with no HC potetnial. The OC version of Fangio. If the OC gets a HC coach job simialr to Gase he could take staff with him and then the Bears are back at square one. A spot where they do not thrive. I really like Waldron.
  17. Here is the issue. Whoever he works with, if he is good he is gone after year 1.
  18. Wonder if the Bears move to the cell. Enough land there to build the domed stadium.
  19. For under $10M takea flyer at short and hope for a new appraoch in all facets if needed.
  20. Pitching in teh MLB is going to go toward load management more and more. You need guys in August, September and October. Not May and June. Pitchers are pitchign less and that will continue. I htink we will get to 25 starts and 150 innigns as the base line. Seems this is the baseline with the Braves and Sale. All of this is MHO.
  21. LWE won the transfer offseason oddly he was to be joining you at one time per another board. High school is as bad as college.
  22. Youngest team in football and all of that draft capital.
  23. Eberflus had three epic failures to lose games and has seen both coordinators and two other hires fired already. If they are moving on from Fields then clean house and start over. Only saving grace is if there is a proven OC brought in that is not jumping ship in 12 months if they succeed like Gase did.
