  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:53 PM) Lmao that the framers were dumb enough give the president absolute powers of pardon It was a check on Congress who could pass unfair/dangerous laws and the judiciary that had to enforce those laws. But when it's used to pardon friends, yes, it's an abusive/dangerous power.

Maybe it was 840 then. It was over 800.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 10:15 AM) Having too many credit cards and letting credit cards close hurts your score which is why I dont do it. That being said if you are already locked into mortgage/etc hurting your score 50 points or so may not really matter. Every lender i've talked to complains about how the govt has scared people about their credit score. There are so many people with awful credit that if you have anything over 650-700 you're basically at "excellent" and will get the most favorable rates. A dip of 50 pts here or there isn't that big of a deal IF you already have good credit.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 10:06 AM) The italicized is exactly how I feel and can't stress it enough. As far as the bolded, how does your credit get hit by doing that. I opened 3 credit cards in February and my credit score score went down 20 points. Getting a couple hard pulls on credit for refinancing quotes didn't help either. I totally agree with your strategy of taking advantage of initial sign up bonuses with cards but am curious if you could speak to the effect it has on yours and your wife's credit scores. Good stuff on the last paragraph. I'll have to check those sites out. Honestly I haven't tracked it much to see what difference it makes in my credit score. I've always been well north of 800 and I checked a few months ago and i'm at 870 or so. If there is any effect it's only temporary.

We only use credit cards to pay for things and then pay off the cards each month. Rarely cash and I don't think either of us have used a debit card in 5-6 years. You're basically throwing money away if you use anything but a credit card that has rewards for cashback or miles. We use an AMEX and Amazon Visa as our main cards, and then we open 5-6 per year to take advantage of promotions. So, for example, we opened a Disney Rewards Visa when we went to Disney a couple of years ago because new card members received $250, plus another $50 for signing on a second user. Most cards have a similar promotion, so we open the card, match the required spending (usually something like 3-5k in the first 3 months), and then cut the card up and never use it again. Usually good for $1000+ in free money a year for doing nothing but spending money like we would anyway. We max out our retirement accts every year (employer match and Roth IRA) and then put in a set dollar amount of each check into a general investment account. We also keep little to nothing in our checking account. Basically enough to pay the bills for the month. The remainder goes into savings. We track our spending and accounts using Mint. I'm a deal-hound so I constantly check around on sites like kinja deals, dansdeals (great for airfare savings), etc. for random stuff and i'll price shop before I buy anything. I'm a huge fan of the Chrome extension Camel for Amazon because it shows the pricing history of every product. You'll know if the price is a good deal or not.

Thought this was kind of funny: https://uproxx.com/hitfix/westworld-season-...video-rickroll/ Long story short: the creators of Westworld are big Reddit fans/users. They posted yesterday a message that said they were going to provide a video detailing everything that happens in season 2 in order to avoid all of the theorizing and unintended revealing of spoilers that comes out of online group discussions of the show. They posted the video this morning and it's a very clever rick roll. My wife and I started a rewatch this week to prepare. Forgot how much I liked this show.
  7. The Jimmy Kimmel/Sean Hannity feud is kind of hilarious.

Whelp, those storylines about the vets competing sure ended quickly. Both Phil and Tiger 10 back already.

The last 6-7 holes are where you can score. If Spieth can get back to an even round I think he's still in a good place.

I put some money on Speith, DJ, Rose and then Kuchar and Stenson as long shots.

    Final Four 2018!!

I was rooting for Michigan but Nova is just too good. Thanks again John Groce for screwing up the Brunson recruitment.

Thanks God this atrocious season is over. I hope there are 3-4 new starters next year. Clean house.

I think they should keep the system as is, but add a rule that you can't pick in the lottery more than 2 years in a row. So you get two chances, then you're bumped down to #15.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 07:15 PM) The Warriors did not tank. Klay, Durant (FA), and Draymond had nothing to do with tanking. Even Steph wasn't that high of a pick. OKC was rebuilt...not sure if they tanked, they happened to just be bad and capitalized on their picks during a window of bad. Tanking and being bad/rebuilding are two very different things to me. A 7th (Steph), 6th (Udoh, a bust), Klay (11th) and Harrison Barnes (6th) helped them. They obviously lucked into Draymond, made good moves grabbing Livingston and Iguodala, and then signed KD after they were already great. Whether they tanked or not, my point was that being bad for consecutive years is a path to being good again. What doesn't' work is when you're in NBA hell like Memphis, Indiana, Washington, etc. Teams that have one or two good players but no great players and you just continue to draft in the 20's. Sure, you sell tickets but you're never going to be a legit threat to compete. I guess I don't see much difference between tanking and being bad and rebuilding. Tanking is a smart part of rebuilding. Like I said before, there's nothing to gain from being a good, bad team. You want to be a horrible team so you get the best possible prospect moving forward. So long as a franchise does it openly, so long as it's not for an extended period of time and so long as there's a clear plan in place, I think it's a perfectly acceptable practice.

Are you worried about rich people losing money? Who cares what the attendance is.
