  1. Yup heard that on the Score...they also said if Toby wasn't injured that A.J. would have been on the pine for the opener... Not trying to bring anything up, but perhaps a a good indication that we won't see much of Scotty tryin to hit lefties....ahhh off to a good start...
  2. Almost a perfect article, everything in there is stuff people on this board have been saying for weeks now. Definately would like to get Iguchi tied up before the season starts, especially at that price, he seems very affordable for a position the Sox are weak at.
  3. Nevermind.... Was thinking Loaiza for his 2003 Season, but I had forgotten the Sox kept him until the deadline in 04
  4. While I am disheartened by the trading of BMac...just because.....I am thrilled with the possibilities of having 2 decent lefties as starters......especially if Danks or Gio live up to the possibilities.
  5. If I recall, I believe he has had 2 DUIs in less than 3 years...not quite sure of the circumstances around them......could have just been wrong place wrong time, or he is a conduct problem.....
  6. Your right just found this on the net Bill Ladson, of Nationals.MLB.com, reports Washington Nationals general manager Jim Bowden refutes a published report saying the club is close to sending OF Alfonso Soriano to the Chicago White Sox. "All I can tell you is that we don't have a deal in place with any team at this hour on any player. That's the only comment I'm going to have," Bowden said.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Bowden's looking to move Soriano because he's a free agent after the year. Thus, he'd have no interest in Carlos Lee, because he's a free agent after this year. Ahh good point, ok, question then, at this stage of their careers, who gets the bigger contract? Soriano or C. Lee? I think arguements could be made for both, but your probably right, why trade Soriano, just to have to fight C. Lee for a contract, unless somehow it could be done as a sign/trade.
  8. Interesting thought here, how about acquiring C. Lee just to flip him for Soriano. The Brewers have all but said they don't think they can afford to resign him....Interesting... Probably far from happening, but a 3 teamer including Sox, Nats, Brewers, could make for some very interesting rosters.
  9. I agree with the Sweeney comments-but at this point, with Crede playing on a 1 year deal, and using agent Scott Boras we might end up missing Fields depending what happens in the offseason. Sox might be better off holding onto Fields well into the offseason, until they can get Crede on a longterm contract if they so desire.
  10. Agreed with you there on a bad defensive outfield....the more and more this is going on, the more unlikely it seems the Sox will acquire Soriano, when you break the lineup down like has been done on this thread, it doesnt really make for a good fit. Especially if trying to hang onto BMac, and Anderson.
  11. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) That's still a quarter of his at bats where he has no chance to have men on, and having Uribe and Anderson ahead of him doesn't help either. Roughly 2/3 of his at bats have come with no one on in Washington. Think it would be better keeping Pods, Soriano second. That would make your 7-8-9 hitters be, Tadihito or A.J, Crede and Uribe...not terrible for getting Soriano some RBI chances.
  12. Note- I do not know the farm system of the Brewers or Giants but- They are both still in contention for wildcard berth in the NL, granted Milwaukee is worried about salary issues, thus why they may not resign Carlos Lee. however they have had some very nice talent in their farm system make their ways to the majors, and is making me wonder what other gems they have down in the system. The Giants-I have no clue here, they have to be thinking that this very well may be Bonds last year, and the team as a whole is not getting younger. I think depending whats out there, and how close the NL West race is +wildcard contention the Sox may be able to get more than Freddy's value for a pitcher ready now and get some pretty nice youngsters in return with maybe a bullpen guy.
  13. I am glad that we are seeing Ozzie being Ozzie in the media. Otherwise it would all be about the pitching staff falling apart, and Buehrle supposedly losing his ways. Good article to read though, thanks for the link.
  14. I believe Leyland gets it as long as the Tigers make the playoffs, he has done a fantastic job up there turning around that team.
  15. Gregory Pratt- Good points, but I thought that Sandy did a decent job of calling games on his last go round with the Sox. I definately agree with alot said in that article, but I feel looking at rotations, I think he should be able to do better with the Sox, than Dodgers- But I am not going to go into detail in the game thread....Just looking for a solid return for Sandy, I have always thought he was a classy player that seems to know the game of baseball. We need to get some runs off of Johan early, and hopefully Jose will settle down and rock this game.
