  1. Burger is a DFA candidate in a couple years. He had very limited trade value last July, let’s be real.
  2. You keep saying this but why? Have you actually watched him pitch? He’s impressed me all season.
  3. Thorpe, Iriarte, and Wilson have combined for 2 earned runs allowed in 34 innings. Not bad.
  4. I don’t think that’s a concern if they’re 30 games under .500 in July
  5. Wait…so people complained about Getz not signing free agents like Michael Taylor in the offseason and now they’re also complaining about signing Pham? What gives?
  6. Me too. The one thing this organization is relatively deep on is starting pitching (anssuming the kids in A+ and AA continue to develop) and they should be able to sign another couple Fedde/Clevinger type free agents in the offseason if needed to eat innings.
  7. Not just that but his remaining years don’t align with the rebuild timeline at all. If they’re lucky, maybe they’re competitive in the final year of his contract. And that’s a big maybe.
  8. The starting rotation has the potential to be a lot of fun in the second half of the season with Crochet, Nastrini, Cannon, Thorpe, and Iriarte all 24 years old and younger. I wasn’t a proponent of promoting these guys until they were ready and honestly felt like they rushed Nastrini and Cannon a bit but perhaps I was wrong. They looked very good in their debuts.
  9. That’s actually really impressive for a third round pick. Score a win for Chris Getz development @WestEddy ?
  10. When I suggested trading him last offseason, most laughed at the idea. “You’ll never get fair value trading him now” was the common reply. Well, his value is undoubtedly less now than it was a couple months ago even if we accepted an “underwhelming” package.
  11. I haven’t written him off but I do hate that big leg kick. I don’t see that working against higher level pitching. Too much movement, needs to simplify things.
  12. His D is as good as advertised. He’ll maintain a positive WAR if he even hits just .225 with no power.
  13. In a lineup otherwise full of bums, Fletcher at least looks like a professional hitter.
  14. Agreed. The only thing I would say though is that it was very difficult to find any quality bats this past offseason with the budget he was working with. Not sure what he could have done.
  15. Have to give credit where credit is due, Fedde looks legit. 2/$15M is a bargain for him.
  16. Boy, Zavala is really struggling. Down to .196 BA, .586 OPS. I hate his huge leg kick. Hope he gets rid of that. Thankfully, the pitching Getz got in the Cease return has been lights out.
  17. He’s actually been solid.799 OPS. If the rest of the lineup was doing anything close to that this team would be decent.
  18. Wilson has been incredible. He’s going to fetch a very nice prospect in a few months if he keeps this up.
  19. True. I’m excited to see what the 3 headed monster of Leasure, Wilson, Kopech can do with a close late lead.
  20. So once Clevinger joins the team, the starting rotation will look something like this? (1) Crochet (2) Clevinger (3) Fedde (4) Nastrini (5) Cannon Dare I say that’s bordering on a respectable rotation?
  21. Playoffs are a crap shoot. All you can ask is that they put themselves in a position to make it and do damage. They did that for two seasons.
  22. And despite all that they were still a pennant contender for two seasons (a rare occurrence for this organization). Unfortunately, the peak was much shorter than expected but they had a legitimately strong roster for two seasons.
