  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Am I a bad fan for wanting Quentin traded if he has any value? Between his defensive awfulness, injury issues, and streaky hitting...I really would love to get good value for him. No. I even stated if Quentin finishes the year strong, we should definitely trade him for whatever he's worth. He gets injured sliding into bases, his injury history has hurt his range so much that he is like an old Jermaine Dye out there, and his injuries have caused his offense to be up and down. I said trade him as soon as his value is at it's highest, whether that be now or after the season.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) Makes it seem like Haren could have been had for Hudson + prospects to top the Angels deal, all it means Kenny not interested in Pitching. Sounds like Rosenthal was correct yesterday when he said Kenny was working on hard on getting one of the top lefty bats, either Dunn or Fielder. Because unless that PTBNL is Trout (highly doubt it), we could have easily matched the Angels offer. Honestly, when was the last time a PTBNL was an actual stud prospect but rather a mediocre, throw in prospect?
  3. Wow, the PTBNL better be f***ing special for this deal to make any sense at all for the D-Backs. Rodriguez and Corbin do not look like anything remotely good, and Saunders has proven to be a very mediocre pitcher at best, outside of 1 year.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) Can't believe at the Haren deal, does it even make sense for the Angels? They just upgraded their rotation big time, and unless they gave up Trout, it seems like a steal for them.
  5. Were the prospect the D-Backs got back any good because Joe Saunders is nothing special.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) He got a great pitch to hit. At least he swung at that instead of the inevitable strike out on an offspeed pitch. Really, PK is the master of the just missed HR late in ball games.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) What a stupid approach. That's not how you win baseball games. It was the right approach, he put a very good swing on a fastball right down the middle. The problem was that he hit the ball less than a millimeter away from the right spot on the bat.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) I agree with you. But Juan's defense has been spectacular this year. That's obviously given him more of a pass. But I hated the trade from the start. Only Kalapse hated it more than I did. I think his D has been overrated, he's just not very good at getting reads, but his speed has made up for it, and he's certainly been better than expected. And I don't know what he was doing stealing there, but it worked out!
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) I gotta give Podesdnik credit. He's had a solid season. And I hate JP so much (and just as I say that he actually knocks in a run). It amazes me how much of a free pass he gets. I think it has just been the fact that the offense has sucked so bad as a whole, Pierre doesn't really stick out like he would if this was a different year.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) BTW, Scotty Pods just hit his 2nd homer of the day. His season is putting Pierre's to shreds. Pierre just got RBI number 19! He's such a great player!
  11. With this offense, Peavy was a necessity.
  12. If I ever again hear someone say that Bobby Jenks has been unlucky because of some BS saber stats, my head might explode. Outside of a stretch in June, Jenks has been awful and consistently getting hit HARD.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) I would think staring at any type of surgery has to drop your sexiness to other teams at least a little bit. It probably does, but if it is a type of surgery that a team knows he can come back from 100%, it probably wouldn't hurt it as bad as some here make it out to be. I doubt anyone will make a trade for Morel thinking he is MLB ready or a centerpiece. Morel is nothing more than a throw in prospect for any deal, even before the injury.
  14. If he finishes the season strong offensively, it would be wise to think about trading him.
  15. He should wind up being fine. Not really worried, this is just something that will hurt his trade value more than anything else, and even in that case, I don't think it would hurt it a lot, unless a team saw Morel as an immediate MLB player for some reason.
  16. It is amazing how many people have blind faith in Jenks. Plain and simple, regardless if you lose a set up man or not, you need to be able to put someone out there in save situation that you can trust to get you 3 outs. And Jenks f***ing blows right now and you can't trust him in any situation.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) Hell Delusional, Meet Bobby. Bobby meet Delusional. From Cowley: Jenks: "(Sunday) in Minnesota was on me, but tonight I had good stuff..." LMAO The only explanation for this line of thought is that Bobby fell off the wagon and is now getting smashed before post game interviews, and perhaps even before save situations.
  18. I think tonight was a perfect example of how badly we need a RF. Andruw Jones D in RF is such a refresher compared to Quentin (and also Dye), but his bat is f***ing terrible.
  19. Guarantee that Jenks will get at least 1 opportunity within the next 3 or 4 save situations.
  20. I think most people already knew his mechanics were terrible this year.
  21. Why not? Because Quentin is a huge injury risk and this offense is severely lacking at the DH/RF spot, and as whole is pretty inconsistent.
  22. No. The Tigers wouldn't give us anything (not to expect we would get anything in return), and in the off chance he turns into the second coming of Jason Giambi everyone thought he would become, we'd be f***ed. I wouldn't make a trade with either the Twins or Tigers, its just not worth the risk unless we get an offer you just can't refuse.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) hahahah, that is possibly the lamest "rant" I've ever heard about any player on this site. Every pitcher in the history of the game uses that after a bad outing. All of them. Every single one. You know why? Cause its the f***ing truth. He just pitched about 5 weeks with 1 ER and a handful of hits. He's not Randy f***ing Williams. And you've "never been a huge fan of bobby"? I'm sorry, but that makes you a piss poor fan. No, some players will actually admit when they f*** up and not make excuses. And not having your good stuff is no excuse for walking the first two batters you faced. There ain't no need for BS. Either say "I f***ed up tonight and I'm going to go back to work and do everything I can to get better." Don't give some bulls*** excuse that any non-idiot baseball fan can see through. And because I've never sucked Bobby dick like half this board, I'm a piss poor fan? Screw you, I live and die with this team. I'm sorry if I actually realized that Jenks has been a liability and should have been traded a couple years ago when he still had value. You don't give pitchers with sporadic stuff and huge injury risks the type of money Jenks is making. It's dumb. By your logic, because I think Andruw Jones is a bum and has no business being on the team, I'm not a true fan. Well, you basically said Randy Williams sucks, your not a true fan!
  24. While it would be preferred to add a Left handed bat, that idea is overrated. We need a bat than actually has extra base ability and can be a threat, regardless of which side of the plate they hit on.
