  1. Youk saving our asses once again, lets walk this off right now.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) What do you mean? That was ridiculously good managing. How dare you criticize Robin?! HAHA, I am not even a blame the manager guy for the most part, but Robin s*** the bed that whole inning, no one can deny this.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) We have 17 blown saves. Tied for 2nd in the AL. Playoff teams don't do this. Just wait until we get to Detroit. You really think not closing a 5 run lead at home against the pathetic M's (a team we've owned) is anything comparable to our bullpen facing Cabrera and Fielder in a 1 run game?? Give me a break. Give it a rest with the horrible Mariners nonsense, this team is red hot and has won 9 of 10. We want to give out free passes with a 5 run lead and forget to play defense any team in baseball can come back.
  4. Horrific managing and even more horrific execution by Reed, this goes down as by far the worst loss of the season if it stays this way. What the f*** was he doing bringing Veal in for one lousy batter, and just let Reed hang out to dry when he walks the world and throws all fastballs.
  5. Agree with Krush's recommendations for PNC, particularly as it relates to parking. Its a nice little walk before and after the game and they close one of the bridges for pedestrian traffic only. For Camden Yards I like the RF seats, and I found that the upper deck isn't bad either. There is a garage on Pratt St. near I believe Penn St. where you can park for less then 10 bucks. There is no parking at the park and the garage's on the inner harbor side can get pretty expensive. Both parks are great, have fun!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) Of course he did. Tyson Nash was a goon himself. Calling Nash a goon would be letting him off lightly. Nash was a known s***bird in his playing days, nice to see him continue to make an ass of himself behind a microphone.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 10:24 AM) Suspensions hanging on whether a player gets injured or not is idiotic. Yup. It's amazing that the NHL manages to badly botch these suspensions time and time again. Everyone was hoping that it was a Colin Campbell problem, turns out it is a stupidity that infects the league's entire management.
  8. Some real horses*** officiating in this game, however our special teams continue to underwhelm as they have all year. Very frustrating.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) I can understand both sides. For the Bears why would you give a guy a guarantee of 20-25 million when you can tag him for 7 a year (especially when he was so underpaid his first few seasons). From Forte's side, Chris Johnson just signed a multi-year deal with a 10 million signing bonus and 7-10 mil base per year. So i'd be angry too knowing that my paycheck is limited to a one year contract for 7. Before this past season Chris Johnson was an undisputed top 2 or 3 running back in the league and had rushed for 2000 yards in a season, while Matt Forte is a nice player who hadn't made a Pro Bowl until this season. The two are not comparable. Also, Chris Johnson should be exhibit A on why you don't give running backs a big contract like Forte wants. He got his money and promptly had a pretty ordinary season. Plus, Forte is coming off a pretty serious knee injury. I wouldn't pay the guy either, franchise him this year and let him walk. Odds are he won't even play out the big contract he gets from someone.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) Renaud P Lavoie ‏ @renhockey #canucks Daniel Sedin have a concussion and should be out for a minimum of two weeks. You don't usually see timeframes used when discussing concussions, so that is a little strange. I would say exaggerating an injury such as a concussion in order to increase a suspension is a litte out there, but I would put nothing past Vancouver. Keith is a first time offender so they won't drop the hammer on him. It is reportedly a teleconference for the disciplinary action so I would expect 5 games or less. Taking into account the first time offender piece I would guess Keith is sitting for 3 games.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) I can't believe I am going to defend this, but that email is worthless. It is pure speculation. Agreed, this guy is just spitting in the wind. If what he is saying WAS true, I seriously doubt he would know anything about it, and if he did he certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to be writing about it on his f***ing blackberry.
  12. Well those millions the Feds spent on this sure ended up worth it......
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Drew Brees. The list is extremely short though. Pro Bowl QBs just don't hit free agency very often. That's why the Cutler trade was such a big deal. Exactly, and Brees was a HUGE risk at the time. He had major shoulder surgery in the offseason, in fact he was supposed to sign with the Dolphins that offseason but their doctors recommended against it. It definitely worked out for the Saints but you NEVER see top 10 QBs hit free agency unless there is some other underlying issue (injury, age, etc.).
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) And as always must be noted...one of those guys has 2 WS trophies. Oh, and a new ballpark. What two world series trophies does Loria have? The first title was won under Wayne Huizenga. What does suckering Florida taxpayers into building a new stadium have to do with being a good owner? Loria also murdered baseball in Montreal and does nothing but pocket his revenue sharing checks, he is a s***ty owner.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) keithlaw keithlaw From @DKnobler: "LaCava wanted to clear out some FO people whose jobs have been protected by Angelos. Angelos refused" This Orioles GM thing is a complete boondoggle and the Orioles are finally getting some attention nationally for what a horribly run franchise they are. They have no GM and the offseason is about to start, and this is with knowing for months that McPhail was not coming back. They are talking about interviewing Dan Duquette, a guy who hasn't been in baseball in over five years for crying out loud. Baltimore is a great baseball town and the fans just don't care about the team anymore because of the horrible ownership, and I can't blame them. With McCourt on his way out Angelos and Loria are part of a select group fighting for the always coveted worst owner in baseball title.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) In 2004 he bought the team for $400M now it is worth $1B....something does not add up there. Did he buy up the land and the park or something in the last 7 years? I'm pretty sure when he bought the team that price included the stadium and the parking lots around it. The whole sale was fishy at the time, and was of course greased through by uncle bud. Everyone knew McCourt didn't have any real money, he made his "fortune" off of parking lots in Boston. Fox was desperate at the time to unload the team and for some reason McCourt was the guy MLB wanted as owner. It doesn't surprise me that the team is worth almost a billion including the land and facilities, the Dodgers are a cash cow and up until McCourt really started crapping all over the team the last couple years they always drew very well.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) 10 years? The only agency I know of that goes that far back with drug history requirements is DEA. FBI was more lenient. Let's just say, I had to document some things from college too... I was 5 years out of college at the time I started the process, and it was a non-issue. 7 years is what I have seen, 10 seems a little extreme. Also, I wouldn't bother trying any of those tricks to try to fool the polygraph (i.e. the thumbtack trick). Best case scenario is that it will make the poly come up inconclusive and you will be put through it again. Plus if you get caught, you will probably be immediately terminated as a candidate.
  18. Our power finally came back on around 100 this morning after being out since around 11pm Saturday night, safe to say all the food in our fridge and our big chest freezer is a loss. We also ended up with some wet carpet in the basement from some water that worked its way into the house somehow. Overall it is still pretty bad in the county where I live, lots of people and businesses without power (I don't know of a grocery store in the southern part of the county as of last night that actually had power). Driving is taking your life in your hands at this point with all the signals being out, for some reason a lot of people don't understand the concept of a 4-way stop and are just flying through the intersections pedal to the metal.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) Anybody watch Kafka last night for the Eagles? Looked damn good to me. I was kind of pissed when the broadcasters said his upside isnt as good as Vince Young's, havent we already seen Vince's upside and it wasnt that great? Yea Kafka looked decent, and people need to give up the Vince Young dream, the guy stinks. I couldn't believe that someone actually gave him 5 million bucks this year and that he is being counted as one of the Eagles "big" acquisitions. If Young plays more than a 3 or 4 quarters for the Eagles this year I would be very nervous if I were an Eagles fan.
  20. I know McCourt is a con man, but how is Loria not #30 on that list? The guy has pillaged 2 franchises, and is a complete assclown.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) I really think we can get into the 5-7 range At this rate I would be shocked if we didn't. This team has completely packed it in, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't win 20 games the rest of the year, particularly since there are lots of games remaining against division opponents who have slapped us around this year (Twins/Royals/Tigers).
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) A lot of people ripping the guy's production when his production was not the issue yesterday.... Bruney isn't the problem. My guess is that he didn't deserve to be thrown out anyway. Never said his performance was the issue yesterday, the pitching all around was a big ball of suck. Just commenting on Bruney's overall ineffectiveness and lack of talent. He IS a problem, that's not to say we don't have much bigger problems, but he certainly hasn't been performing.
  23. There is no accountability on this team, see the Rios "benching" for being one of the worst players in baseball that lasted all of 2 days. Bruney had a nice run of magic for awhile, but agreed it is time for him to go. Someone else on the farm can get a shot at being the mop-up man/punching bag for awhile.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) I still don't get how people can root against making the playoffs. Your hatred of a coach/gm overwhelms your wishes for team success??? Do you root for a team or just for the coaching staff? Seriously, root AGAINST making the playoffs in order to get management fired, I feel like I am taking crazy pills here. I hate this team right now, they are boring, play dumb baseball, and seem to have packed it in for the season, but if at any point they want to wake up and catch fire to make it into the playoffs that would be fine by me. Playoff baseball has been a rarity for this fanbase, we shouldn't be rooting against it because we think Ozzie is a clown and Kenny couldn't manage a fantasy baseball team.
  25. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:58 AM) I think that Soxtalk.com needs more "Alex Rios sucks" threads. The whole first page could be nothing but threads trashing Rios and it still wouldn't fully articulate what a waste of space he is.
