  1. “Booooo, Kelly—we should be able to cheat with impunity” —Astros fans
  2. Haugh is one of the worst, most passive-aggressive Cubs homers out there.
  3. Watching that game was like gargling with Listerine(TM).
  4. Let's keep it family-friendly here. But honestly don't hold that against them, you have to earn that kind of trust
  5. What do you mean? I applaud my capitalist overlords' ingenuity in price-gouging me with such efficiency and precision. I look forward to a future when technology will allow the ballpark to monitor my dopamine levels and offset each unit of increased happiness with accompanying price increases for my seating and concessions. It is their natural right to separate me from as much of my money as their creativity and innovation will allow!
  6. He had his flaws but was honestly fine when used properly. He was just put into an untenable position by the folks in charge who set him up to be hated, much like Private Gomer Pyle in Full Metal Jacket. Now the bedsheets have been pulled tight and the blanket party has begun.
  7. Yeah, THIS is my team. Let's do it this way.
  8. Hey, Funkytown is a solid brewery. Or are you just opposed to punnery
  9. Not necessarily. They already sent Cuba and Panama to Taichung. Simply switch Panama and Dominican Republic's pools and you've basically solved the problem with no additional travel. There's a number of ways to do it without increasing travel much if at all.
  10. Man, they really need to even up the pool play next time around. DR, Venezuela and PR in the same group is just a killer. Now we get to see Australia and Italy advance instead of one of those three? Yawn
  11. Phew! You were *this* close to having a good story
  12. I like it -- you could even have bobbleheads with removeable heads. Call them bobble-beheaders. Heads will roll on Fridays!
  13. No offense, but this series of posts is really weird and erratic -- what's with all the bravado and false choices? The question of whether to bat a rookie in the middle of the order (from day one) depends on whether you think the team can win? The question of whether to bat a rookie in the middle of the order depends on whether you want Marisnick and Hamilton in the outfield? Huh? The question of whether to bat Colas in the middle of the order boils down to whether you're sold on him as one of our top 3 or 4 hitters *right now.* Nobody but you is there yet. I love Colas, but I'm not there yet - way, way too early. I hope to be there as soon as possible, and if he rakes he'll move up. Anyway, this isn't even that "hot" a topic. No reason to get so riled up.
  14. Sure, if you just assume your conclusion (that Colas will be one of our top hitters his rookie year) then the decision where to put him in the lineup is as easy as you suggest. The thing is, I think the rest of the baseball world is waiting to see if your conclusion is correct before acting accordingly. There's plenty of reason to think a rookie will struggle a bit adjusting to MLB pitching.
  15. I was fine with this idea when it first came up but it just seems...weirdly-timed now. Kind of falls flat. If these went up at the end of the 2022 season and stayed up over the offseason they would have captured a mood. But with opening day around the corner I think most Sox fans are ready to focus on the new manager and hope the team does well, and this sort of seems to suck us back to a time we'd rather forget. And they'll look pretty dumb if the Sox have a nice start to the season (I know, that wouldn't exonerate Jerry, but come on...nobody wants to b**** about the owner when the team is looking good.)
  16. I don’t know. I have no dog in this fight, just trying to use one thing I do know about (law) to help clear up an apparent misunderstanding about the meaning of a legal term. Carry on.
  17. As it turns out, F the Cubs today and forever
