  1. So that's where MC Hammer went to. You suppose that's why he gives Oakland so many good deals? Damn former Oakland bat-boy. And didn't MC Hammer go bankrupt, or get really poor along the way sometime during his life? KW: "You can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents." - If he is MC Hammer, that would be him talking about his former life....he couldn't get that candy bar at the local C-Store because he only had the 50 cents he had on the ground.
  2. The Tigers have two free agents, Juan Acevedo and Matt Walbeck.
  3. If you got banned in the first place because they thought it was a racial thing, then that one can't get you banned! That clown is white!
  4. I'd have to agree with this all the way. The Angels had 1 man I believe have over 100 RBI and the Twins had none....yet both found their way into the ALCS. Both played great defense, both had great bullpens and both had mediocre starting pitching, with the exception of one or two pitchers. The Twins didn't draw a lot of walks, though I'm not sure about the Angels. However, both teams did get great defense up the middle. As an opponent you always had a hard time getting a hit up the middle. Not only that, but you would have a hard time stealing a base and hitting a ball by Torii Hunter or Darin Erstad. I can't say that we have a great defensive CF like Hunter or Erstad in Rowand and his arm probably isn't as good as either of their's either(though he does have a gun), or that we are as good in the middle infield with Valentin and Jimenez/Harris as Anaheim and Minnesota are....Miguel's arm is probably equal to Pierzynski and Molina's, so we have it there. However, to back the statement I just made, the Giants were 6 outs away from winning the World Series with Lofton in CF and he had a weak arm and shaky defense and Aurilia and Kent had mediocre defense up the middle. Santiago had a very good arm behind the plate(I remember seeing him throw out a runner in the series from his knees....that's frickin incredible). All I'm saying is is that we could be a World Series contender with the right moves....our defense, IMO, is just fine as it is, and that we could win it all with Rowand in CF, especially with Konerko, Maggs, Valentin, Thomas/Lee, Borchard, Crede, etc, as his supporting cast. This team needs pitching and pitching alone.
  5. Yet another good reason....though I think it'd be hard to watch him play for a different team. I believe he has 19 days left to sign with another team. Not a lot of time, especially if Baltimore signs IRod or either of the Matsui's.
  6. Not with George owning them....he'd still put a ton of frickin money into the team, whether or not it's cheating. He will try to put as much as he could anyways...if the luxury tax is at $117 million, he'd spend $116,999,999.99.
  7. That would mean we could about $10 million still....if Lee would be part of the Colon package then that would leave us at about $8 million left. And if Thomas returns and we give him $4-5 million, that would leave us at about $3-4 million. Say Wright and Liefer go in the Colon deal too. Both will probably get raises of about $25,000 this year, so there isn't much there. If we bring up two minor leaguers, they would probably get league minimum. I would have to agree that we'd need to get creative to get another pitcher.....maybe. Say we give $38 million to Maggs, Foulke, Colon, Konerko, Thomas, and Valentin...then we sign Jamie Moyer to a 1-year $6.5 million deal with a team option for a 2nd year. That puts us at $43.5 million. We then sign Buehrle to a 5-year $40 million deal starting at $5 million a year. That would put us at $48.5 million. Marte's going to want a raise...probably about $1 million a year. Osuna makes some money....I suggest we trade him and just get someone....we would be dumping salary, which saves us about $2.5 million. At the moment we would be at about $49.5 million among 9 players...that is about $366,666 per player then. If we get rid of Ritchie, that would be a beautiful thing. He is making $3.5 million a year....that would bring down the payroll $3.5 mil. That would bring it down to $46 million, or roughly $600,000 for the remaining 15 players on the average. That seems about right.
  8. The high for me was probably when we kicked the living s*** out of Joe Mays...that and when Buehrle threw the complete game shutout against the Twins, saved by Joe Crede in his first real action. That was beautiful. A low point was probably later that series, when we only scored one more run for the entire series. The highest point was the 8-run comeback. Man, did it feel like 2000....that was incredibly sweet. And then Carlos's granny against the Chubbies. I also called a Thomas homer this year, against the A's I think. It was early in the season and I made a prediction on the MLB board....some may remember it. That kind of gave me a personal high. The lowest point was probably Miguel Olivo's first game, the last game of a 3-gamer against the Yanks. Not only had we dominated the series up to that point(having won 14-4 and 8-1 in back to back games) but that we lost the division that day in I believe 6 innings played. That was bulls***. Miguel's homer was pretty cool though. I will admit that. Wasn't he the first Sox player to hit a homer in his first major league at-bat since one Carlos Lee? Borchard hit a homer in his second major league at-bat too....that was pretty cool. Losing the division had to be the worst though.
  9. Well, I believe this is the last year on Pettitte's contract, as well as Wells's, Clemens may resign with the Yanks, but maybe not, El Duque is getting older(maybe....he could be 47 for all I care and that's why he's throwing the eephus pitch). Only Weaver and Mussina are guarenteed for next year....then again, they will probably sign Maddux and Glavine this offseason. :**** - Yankees
  10. Can you tell me where it says the payroll will be at $45 million? No one says they can't trade Lee for Colon, along with some others(Liefer and Wright maybe) and then bring others up to fill the roster spots. That would only add about $2-4 million.
  11. The real reason I don't want to get rid of Thomas is because I would rather have him hit .275 30 100 here then have him hit that elsewhere. I believe the main candiate to get Thomas is Baltimore, but with them interested in Pudge and them wanting only to add one big bat, they may get him and not add Thomas. And I believe from what I read it said the White Sox could defer all but $300,000 of his $10.725 or whatever due. That doesn't mean we HAVE to defer all but $300,000 of it, but maybe we could defer $5,000,000 of it and then restructure his contract in the next offseason. Just a thought
  12. This seems to be an interesting topic to me for a couple reasons. First of all, because our minor league gem is a natural CF and he has a cannon for an arm(one reason he was a QB for Stanford). That and the fact that we have Harris who, if he ever pans out, could be a pretty good CFer type player, maybe like a Kenny Lofton type(in his prime, that is). Say Jimenez and Hummel both pan out as well....which do we dump, Harris, Hummel, Jimenez or Rowand, or do we dump two of them and keep Valentin, though he is getting older? It would seem like a good question to have, as many people would say, but I don't think it is. Do we want a CFer with a ton of speed but has a weak arm who can leadoff effectively or do we want a CFer that hustles his ass off and takes good routes who could also be a .280-.300 hitter with 20 bombs and 20 steals while at the same time being a damn good bunter, or Borchard, who may be more comfortable in CF? And if we take the latter, do we want Harris at 2B, Jimenez who could be a pretty good #2 hitter with good defense or a guy like Hummel who could hit .280 or .310 with a good OBP and great defense.? And if we choose either Harris or Hummel to play 2B, do we then get rid of Jose and use Jimenez there? This was just a burning question in my mind and was actually starting to bug me. In the end, we could end up giving up someone that is better than the player we kept, and we know we never want that. Maybe KW does....then again, I don't want him GMing in the future.
  13. I for some reason thought he threw two one-hitters this year, or he atleast threw one one-hitter and took another one deep...all I know is that in one of his one-hitters it was against the Rangers and that that one hit was the only base runner he allowed all game. He can be a damn good pitcher when he's healthy.
  14. s*** if they wanted a solid arm why in the hell didnt we trade Jon Adkins back? He must be pretty damn solid if we got him for Durham
  15. If KW still wants Lidle, could probably get him. The Blue Jay's bullpen isn't the best, and could use some improvement. We have got a ton of pitchers in the minor leagues that are pretty good relief pitchers. We could trade Majewski and Munoz to Toronto for him. Toronto would get getting 2 pretty good young pitchers in return and we would be getting Lidle, along with his salary. I'm not sure this move would get him over here. However, he could do something like this IF he wanted to. I'm sure he isn't unavailable now that he is in Toronto.
  16. Oakland got Billy Koch out of the deal though. He wasn't that bad this year either.

  18. Foulke can't be getting $8-10 mill a year, can he? That's horses***. No bullpen pitcher should get $8-10 mill. None. Period. End of story. Starters are the only pitchers that should get that much money. Only the Yankees could pay a bullpen pitcher over $10 million.
  19. Lidle got traded to Toronto....I think I'm gonna be sick. :puke Lidle to Toronto
  20. HSC, I've got to ask....when you saw Hummel play this year, was he bigger than the year before, bigger meaning bigger with more muscle, maybe like he was lifting? I know that lifting and getting bigger takes away from your range....that's why there is no huge 2B or SS. That's why I ask....if he was bigger and still is, that may be one reason, and that's because he wants more power. All we need from him is good defense and a guy that can hit .300 with 10 homers and 65 RBI a year....and I think management needs to get across to him. That is, if he was bigger.
  21. Charles Johnson reversed his decision, accepting the trade. I read about it on Yahoo! Baseball....I misread it at first, or they changed it under my nose...one or the other. I'd expect both teams to be right around .500 next year. Both teams have the potential to be 90 game winners, IMO.
  22. Regarding the lineup, bat Valentin 2nd, Lee 6th, Crede 7th and Rowand 8th....that's what I'd do anyways. And Harang is inserted into the rotation as the #5. We need a power pitcher and in one of his first starts, he struck out 10 agsint the Mariners....that is something we need, even if it comes in a kit of inconsistency. That is a decent rotation considering how potent our offense is. If Lidle pitches as good as he did in the second half of last year all year, we'd be in buisness. Not only that, but we would then have 4 capable starters too. That is something we need, and if we were to get to the postseason, we could do a lot of damage. The one bad thing about it all is probably the defense, and when your rotation, bullpen and offense are that good, we could be in buisness.
  23. Scary thought? It's down right hair-raising. If that move happened, and I'm dead serious about this, there may be no more witesoxfan, because one thing is for certain and that is the fact that I ain't gonna be a White Sox fan. Not until the management group as a whole is out of town. I think I'm gonna have bad dreams now. My mom always tells me there are some damn scary things on the net....well, I think I found the perfect plot for a scary movie. Get Steven Spielberg on the line ASAP!
  24. Personally, I'd say (Steve Phillips I'm assuming) is worse or just as bad as KW anyway, the Orioles GM is worse, the Rockies GM is worse, and the Rangers GM in the offseason of 2000-2001 was worse too....their GM now is Cleveland's old GM, and I can't think of his name....anyways, he was the one that put together the Indians good run of 5 straight division titles. But if you sign Chan Ho Park....anyways, I don't think the Marlins GM or the Royals GM is worse mainly because they are given s*** for cash to spend. You think KW could run a team like that? I seriously doubt it. If KW made one bad trade or if he didn't spend money, it would not make him a bad GM. However, he made the Todd Ritchie, he got nothing in return for Durham(practically anyways), he got the wrong guy in the Baldwin deal, and he traded for Clayton, and I am probably missing some too. Not only that, but he did spend money....correct me if I'm wrong, but we spent something in the range of $30-$40 million in 2000, and we won the division. In 2001, we spent around $65 million....anyone can see the difference, and he did spend more money, and he spent it unwisely. KW is a terrible GM....he pisses me off, one move at a time. I'm not sure I could regain any respect for the man, but I may be able to if he could get us Lidle for MJ, if Gammons isn't s***tin' us, or Colon/Vazquez from Montreal for next to nothing. Those would be some pretty damn good moves, but we need another lefty. That is the main goal this offseason is another lefty, IMO.
