For those who said the fans should boo the team, just stay home. If the Sox are eliminated, then go and boo if you want to, but support a team, at home, that still controls its own destiny. Cry, scream, rage at home about the embarrassing series in Minnesota, but cheer loudly when they take the field tonight.

I hope the fans cheer their asses off for the Sox to sweep Cleveland. As horrible as the Minnesota series is, the Sox still control their own destiny by having the DET makeup game to makeup that 1/2 game deficit. If you are going to boo, stay home and boo to your television.

My addition to this thread is that Ozzie has to do his part too. And that means pulling Javy, as early as the 6th inning, if the game is tight.

 

Two years ago we watched as Javy blew, by my memory, something like 11 leads in the 6th inning. It was unbelievable. The last game he won on the year was against Yankees, I believe. And he only won that game because Ozzie yanked him after 5.

 

So, I only put the first 5 innings on Javy in tonight's game. After that, I consider Ozzie to have been forewarned. (Javy should be better, but it's just wishful thinking trying to make him into something he's not at this point.) Granted, our bullpen would be stretched to cover 4 innings, but it still might give us a better chance.

 

I really hope the bullpen does not need to go 4 innings tonight. I'd rather leave Javy in unless he's in big trouble.

As for the main topic, I generally hate pitching guys on short rest, but with the 5th starter being very hit and miss, I'd rather try to win with our main horses. I would hate to miss the playoffs by 0.5 games because of yet another Richard or Broadway start. I know Kalapse posted stats on Javy on short rest, and they were fine. If there are any stats on the other guys that suggest the short rest is such a terrible idea, I haven't seen them (although I have not looked either). Clearly, it has not worked well so far, but the offense and bullpen are at least as much to blame as the short rest.

You just can't admit that ozzie is a bad in-game manager. That's fine with me, it doesn't matter because it's a FACT, and you can't argue facts, so you can be in denial, not address my points and ignore them all you want.

 

I have yet to see a single FACT supporting your opinion that Ozzie is a bad game manager. Others clearly disagree with you, it is getting tiresome seeing you attack other posters for trying to have a conversation on the issue with you when you see your opinion as fact.

at this point im frankly planning on PK not being with the team the rest of the year....we are gonna have to pitch our way back in to this....and frankly i think we need to go to a 4 man rotation the rest of the way....i see no way we can start broadway/poreda on saturday

 

A four man rotation would potentially kill Danks and maybe Floyd.

I really don't think this team is doing anything without Quentin.

 

I guess they can luck out by backing into the playoffs if Minnesota plays as poorly as they have. They are outclassed against the other top AL teams.

 

Clearly the Sox were outclassed by the best team in the AL in taking 2 of 3 from LAA.
