  1. Has anyone heard anything about the Sox agreeing to terms with Mat Latos? Our old buddy "Jimbo's Drinker" (Dan) just tweeted it and then deleted it a few minutes later. He definitely has some good contacts and used to work for the White Sox, so I imagine there might be some truth to it.

    Merry Christmas

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) He actually did on Twitter! I appreciate that he's totally rolling with his mistake. Merry Christmas, y'all.
  3. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) He would need a boat oar to hit some of the stuff he swings at. This made me laugh.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) Frazier Audio https://twitter.com/MLBNetworkRadio/status/...241763959042049 Good stuff. Thanks for posting that.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) If you are talking Tyler Lumsden...I was never very happy with that pick. I consistently ripped the Sox for how they handled that year they had the multiple picks. Of course in comparison to the Wes whisler pick, the Lumsden pick looked great. Hey now, that was my dude.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Henry's career in the NFL is going to be shorter than about every other back in the draft. Guy is a high mileage model. Completely agree. Especially with the way he runs. He invites a lot of contact, and therefore takes a lot of hits. I know he's a big dude, but those hits add up.
  7. Derrick Henry is maybe the 3rd or 4th best RB in the SEC, but like Rock said, the overall numbers are there. And let's remember that this isn't an award for best pro prospect or most talented. It's a numbers thing. However, with that said it will be so underwhelming if he wins. I think McCaffery should win. Unfortunately, I think most voters probably just settled on Henry to be done with it.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) The redesigned models. HUGE issues, all over FB, message boards and soon to be networks and newspapers. There is an issue with them building the roof with too thin material and there is a huge vibration/buffeting issue that is causing tons of buybacks. Yikes. That sounds awful. But from a personal standpoint, I'm glad I'm focusing on the old design model rather than the new.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Yes, I've been on the fence between Yukon Denali an ML63 AMG or a JGC SRT The yukons/tahoes have been having all sorts of buyback and recall issues, it looks like a huge manufacturing error. Which year? The newer models? I've been looking into 2013/2014 Tahoes. Hadn't seen anything like that yet. Hope I haven't completely missed that.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Barry Odom is new Missouri head coach. I hope he keeps coach Kuligowski as DC and fires josh henson I think that's a solid hire. And if he can keep Kuligowski on staff, that's big. It's amazing what that guy has done during his tenure. Best DL coach in college football.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Tennessee came back from 21 down against Georgia and was tied going into the fourth quarter and only won by 3 in Tennessee against an awful South Carolina team. The Vols broke even this year. Can't whine about the close losses and forget the close wins. You don't win or lose all those games, as happened with Tennessee this season. And we're still a Top 25 team.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Yep, with two of those losses being to Bama and Oklahoma and another being a 1 point loss to Florida before the Will Grier suspension. Having them ranked 25 isn't crazy. Thank you. We're two epic 4th quarter collapses (Oklahoma and Florida) away from playing in the SEC title game and a shot at the playoff. We lost to Bama by 5 and our kicker missed 3 field goals that game. At no point were we outmatched. They just made plays at the end to win.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Tom Herman will be a target and that's scary in its own right. He will keep a lot of that talent home. That would definitely be scary. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Look for UGa to hire Smart and possibly bring Muschamp with him This would be completely fine by me.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) Georgia is a truly elite program if they can hire the right guy. The facilities and talent level around them is insane. For years, I've been scared of the day they fire Richt. A true sleeping giant. I'm hoping they screw this up and hire Kirby Smart or bring back Muschamp. As long as it's not Chip Kelly, I'll probably be able to live with it.
  15. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 11:59 PM) I don't think Callahan, Amos, Christian Jones will be no-names much longer. Callahan has been a great find as a UDFA. He'll only get better too.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) I can care less about this win making the Bears draft pick worse. It's always nice to beat Green Bay. For sure. Awesome win. I've said it so many times this year, but man it's amazing to have really good coaching. Seriously, our defense is a bunch of no-name dudes and we just shut down the Packers offense. Amazing. If not for the ticky tack call on Porter and/or the awful missed hold on Lacy's TD, the Packers really scored 6 points.
  17. I still find it hard to believe that LSU would force out Les. But if they do: 1) They better have someone really good lined up beforehand. I can speak firsthand about how forcing out a highly successful long-time coach can backfire tremendously if you don't hire the right guy. 2) I don't think Les will coach again. He's 62 and enjoys spending time with his family. I could see him going the TV route. He's such a character. One of the last remaining coaches that speaks his mind, rather than that "CEO" mentality that they all seem to have. College football coaches are so bland now with all this coach-speak, but that's a different discussion.
  18. I never knew how awful people were about tipping until I became friends with a waitress at a restaurant I go to a lot. I couldn't believe what she would tell me about her tips.
  19. And there he goes again. We have ourselves a game.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) Watching Andrew Luck throw the ball this year there is no way he is healthy. For sure. I keep hearing people say "Oh man, is this the end of Luck?" or "Luck is regressing before our very eyes." I don't buy that at all. His OL is as bad as I've seen, and that's saying something coming from a Bears fan. And he's clearly hurt. Any QB playing with multiple broken ribs is going to have a difficult time being effective. I respect him for toughing it out. But it might be best for him to sit and get healthy. And as I'm typing this... Luck quickly drives down the field and throws a TD pass.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) Anyone know what the cap hit for cutting Cutler looks like after this year? Over the Cap is a pretty reliable website for cap questions. It also has a feature that allows you to "cut" your own players to how it would affect the salary cap. Pretty neat tool. http://overthecap.com/calculator/chicago-bears

    2015 TV Thread

One of my best friends was just on CSI Cyber tonight. Never been more excited to see a character come on screen during a TV Show. He had 2 lines. But it was awesome.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Gonna be a year or two until they have actual talent on defense. Yes. Thank you for helping keep perspective about this, as well as the Trestman post earlier. People need to see the big picture. We are competing well, playing hard, and keeping games close against teams that have superior talent. We've had a great chance to win the last 2 games. But by losing, we keep our chance at a high draft pick and impact player. And best of all, it's a lot of young guys that are playing well.

    Ten Year Members

I'm sitting at 4 stars. I'll take it. And with that, I'm probably immediately getting bumped down to a 2 or 3. But for real, the folks who are at 10+ years have been pretty dedicated to this site. Though a lot of posters have gone away, it's nice to many still around. I don't post a ton, but I'm on here every day. It has been interesting to see so many of us grow up - people getting married, having kids, etc. I was 15 - a sophomore in high school - when I joined SoxTalk. Now I'm 27. It's astonishing to think about how much changes during those years in life. And yet I've been coming to this site almost every day for all of those years. That's a testament to the job Jason has done, as well as the admins/moderators who help run the site.
