    2016-2017 NBA Thread

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Butler played fantastic down the stretch. I also liked the aggression that Lopez and Rondo played with. Offense looked much better, that said, defensively, we need to play a lot more consistent. That wasn't exactly a dynamic Miami offense they were going against. Nice to get the road win on a back to back. I'm hoping this extended road trip to come helps allow these guys to gel. I get the feeling we will see Gar/Pax pull a decent size trade at some point this year (with the long-term in mind). My presumption is we will see the Bulls move Niko (not sure how much value he has given his pending free agency). Mirotic is frustrating as hell. I went to the game against the Hawks on Wednesday, and every time he was on the court, bad things happened.

That was fun. I don't get to see many Bulls games, so it was nice starting off the year on national TV.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Did Floyd get hurt again late in the game? It's possible. There was a run play where he tried to pivot and then immediately just stopped moving. He kind of hopped around on his leg a bit. It felt like a knee tear when I saw it in real time, but he stayed in, so I hoped it was just a tweak. And frankly, it's possible he got hurt later on and it had nothing to do with the play I saw.

Yeah, I had no idea Costco got into the car business. Sounds like a pretty good deal from the consumer side. I'll definitely check it out.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Wow Tennessee. What a turn of events I couldn't have experienced a wider range of emotions during the last few minutes of that game. I was 100% certain we were going to win after that dude missed the chip shot FG. It's a damn shame. We committed 7 turnovers and still took a Top 10 team to 2 OTs. Unfortunately for Tennessee, no team has angered the injury gods more. Half our starters and even more backups are out. I don't know how much longer they can keep this up when we're down to guys who had never previously seen the field this year until the A&M game. Oh well, on to Bama.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) What a perfect, perfect Bears game. Competed, showed some things offensively (even against an atrocious defense), Howard and that WR whose name escapes me continue to show promise, and they lost! Also, that performance by Hoyer all but assures that Cutler has played his last game for the Bears right? Why would they go back to him? Couldn't agree more. Perfect scenario. I want to see the young guys contribute and develop while still losing games. Better for the team's future.

Jesus. We can't catch a break with injuries this year. No pun intended. There were a few key players that we couldn't afford to get injured due to developmental reasons and White was one of them.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) No, this mess is on Emery and Angelo more than Pace. Biggs was saying this morning that the only players from the Emery drafting era that could be on the team next season are Leno, Jeffrey and Long. You cant judge Pace's drafts yet This. I've been reading this thread over the past few days and am in disbelief that people actually think Pace and Fox are the problem. This is Year 2. They inherited a horrific roster devoid of talent. Now, I do have a problem with Pace's selection (and trading up at that) of Floyd in the 1st round. I thought it was a horrible pick. But I'm rooting for the kid because we desperately need him to pan out.

    TV and Netflix Thread

I decided to watch Limitless based on some suggestions earlier in this thread. I really liked it, but I just finished the 1st season and now I'm disappointed to find out it was not renewed for a 2nd season. Though in a way, it's fine because they pretty much wrapped up the 1st season story. No major cliffhangers.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Bears must love that show Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Khari Lee and now Eric Kush. Next year we need to be on the lookout for fan favorites who are borderline to make the roster. I do like Kush, though. T-shirt printing companies in the Chicago area are about to see a spike in revenue. Josh Sitton is a must.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Ha, I was thinking the same thing and being the jerk that I am, I was sitting there rooting for Applachian State to pull the win just so I could picture Evan throwing a remote as his TV, haha. Ha, all good - I'd be rooting for the underdog if it were any other team. By the end, I wasn't even angry. I was so resigned to the fact that we likely just lost to App St.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) You survive, Evan? Haha, barely. That was incredibly stressful. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around, I was just praying for a victory no matter how it happened. We looked horrible. But I think App St is actually a pretty solid team. I'm not making excuses - a real Top 10 team should have beaten them easily. But App St has a real shot at beating Miami in 2 weeks. I fully expect them to win the Sun Belt again. Additionally, I'm going to Bristol next week for the game against Virginia Tech. Had we lost, that trip would have been a lot less exciting. As it stands now, bring on the ~150,000 person crowd. Should be fun.

Best HBO Series of All Time

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Band of Brothers (does it count)? If so, it is easily Band of Brothers, followed by Game of Thrones, followed by Entourage. I'm with you. It was a mini-series, so I'm not sure if it counts for the purpose of this poll. But definitely Band of Brothers for me. But there are so many good ones on this list.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) Yeah. I'll never forget that game. I was at college surrounded by Rams fams who carried over their hate of cubs to the bears. They were talking SO much trash up til halftime. When Hester returned that touchdown that was the most excited I've been for any non playoff game I've been to. Plus Urlacher just deciding he'd go score points like the friggin water boy. I'll never forget that game. It was my freshman year in the dorm room. I went nuts on that punt return. My roommate was pissed because he was trying to sleep... it probably didn't help that he was a Packers fan.

    Vacation/Travel Thread

QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Nice man. Where did you golf? Just golfed at Keystone last weekend, which was my first time golfing up in the mountains. Just as I get used to golfing at 5,000 feet in Denver, I go play up there and have to play up another club or 2. This is after just golfing back in Michigan a few weeks ago. I'd say up in the 8,000-10,000 ft range I was playing about 3 clubs up from what I was playing at 0 altitude. We played at Flatirons Golf Course. Local public course right there in Boulder. It sounds like going way up in the mountains at that elevation would be really tough to play. Obviously you'd get used to it if you played enough. But for someone like me, it would be difficult.

    Vacation/Travel Thread

I just spent 4 days in Boulder, Colorado. I have been to Colorado several times in the winter, but never in the summer before. It was beautiful this time of year. Went on some great hikes, golfed, went fly fishing, and rock climbing. Can't wait to get back. On the golf note, the altitude definitely adds distance to your game. It was actually a detriment because it took me several holes to figure it out. I kept hitting the ball further than intended, particularly with my low irons and wedges.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) The main thing about what the Sox are doing—IMO—is little to foul up the long term. I continue to strongly doubt the benefits of a full-on, let's be the worst team style of rebuild, especially for a franchise like the Sox that would seriously lose revenue without at least a little bit of hope. The payroll is in good shape looking forward, you have some nice core pieces and your veterans aren't particularly expensive. Tim Anderson, Carson Fulmer, and Zack Collins are all guys to get excited about. We've been conservatively building the team and I don't see anything wrong with that. I think if there was a big, bold move to make that would really take the team a big step ahead, they'd make it. But I sure haven't seen it available. Heyward? Upton? Alex Gordon? Cespedes seemed to be the worst fit in the offseason but is the only one hitting in the actual season. In the end, it turned out a CF would have been the best fit in the first place. We brought on Frazier and Lawrie at very little expense and nobody is stopping us from flipping them at the deadline a year from now if things aren't looking up. To me, this is the kind of approach we had when we won the WS. The 2005 team was filled with question marks and the direction of the franchise was unclear. But we kept those core guys around and tried to bring on extra talent without mortgaging the franchise. It worked out. Maybe that was just a fluke and it shouldn't be a model for the future, I can't say. Co-sign. Couldn't have said it better myself.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) Noah has been my favorite Bull for quite a while. I am going to be really sad to see him in another jersey. This. That '09 playoff series against the Celtics probably locked it in for me. There has never been a player that I hated so much and then loved so much in sports. I could not stand Noah when he was at Florida (even though we beat them every year in the regular season, they still won those titles). Then a few years later he became, by far, my favorite Bull. That said, there's no way I'd want him back on the Bulls for the money he's going to get. If we were a legit contender, sure. But not as this team is constructed.

Ticketmaster free tickets from class action lawsuit

QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) Unbelievable. I have 6 vouchers as well. Will they ever add new shows to this list? I read on the Ticketmaster website that they will add shows to the list. I think it was somewhere in the FAQ section.

Ticketmaster free tickets from class action lawsuit

I finally looked at my account and was pretty surprised to see 6 vouchers and 6 discount codes. I didn't expect that much. Unfortunately, of the list of approved shows, most of the ones I'd want to see have already sold out of their voucher allotment. Good thing is that more will come available since these don't expire until 2020.
