  1. If we traded Colon to SF, I'd would be extremely happy if we got Williams, Ainsworth, and Foppert in return. But, I'd also be very happy if we could get Williams, Foppert, and Matt Cain. I really think Cain is gonna be good starter in the big leagues. He only pitched in A ball this year, and is out for the rest of the season, but after watching him pitch in high school and then seeing the stats he put up this year before getting hurt, I have really begun to like this guy. Of course, I'd really like to see what Jason or anyone else who is familar with Cain has to say about him because I'm not really sure what pitches he throws or how hard he throws.

And, I would really like to see Danny Wright used as a closer some in AAA and see how he does. I think he could become a very good closer.

  2. I've got a question about Koch and the games he's pitched in. Does anyone know in the games that Koch has pitched in, how many times has Koch given up 1 or more runs vs. how many times he's pitched and not given up any runs. It just seems to me like every time he pitches we have to expect at least one run to go up on the board.

  3. I think that this would be a good trade for all the teams if it is a 3-way trade. Even though the A's would be giving up a stud in Blanton which would suck for them, they would get a bat that they need if in fact they got Drew.

  4. Whenever the Sox are losing in the 8th going to 9 I am going to get a McFlurry as good luck while listening to the game. :)

Last year the Angels had the rally monkey as their good luck charm for comeback wins, so this year the White Sox have a new goodluck charm for comebacks: McFlurry's

  5. Thanks man, we do it all for the fans out there. :) We're currently working on a rehashed version of the Top50, looking really good now.

SWEET!! I can't wait for the next Top 50 to come out. I'm really looking forward to reading it! O yea, will there be some of our 2003 draft picks on the list too? I sure hope so, I'd like to see where ya'll think Anderson, Sweeney, Valido, Nanita, etc. would rank in our Top 50. I would guess Anderson, Sweeney, and Nanita would all be fairly high.

  6. They call you lady luck

But there is room for doubt

At times you have a very un-ladylike way of running out

You're on this date with me

    The pickings have been lush

And yet before this evening is over you might give me the brush

    You might forget your manners

    You might refuse to stay

And so the best that I can do is Pray

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck be a lady tonight

Luck if you've ever been a lady to begin with

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck let a gentleman see

Just how nice you can be

I know the way you treated

    Other guys you been with

Luck be a lady with me

A lady doesn't leave her escort

    It isn't fair

    And it's not nice

A lady doesn't wander all over the room

And blow on some other guy's dice

    Let's keep this party alight

Never get out of my sight

Stick with me baby, I'm the fella you came in with

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck let a gentleman see

    Just how nice

Just how nice a dame you can be

I seen the way you treated

    Other guys you been with

Luck be a lady with me

A lady doesn't leave her escort

    It isn't fair

    And it's not nice

A lady doesn't wander all over the room

And blow on some other guy's dice

Let's get this party started right

Never get out of my sight

Stick with me baby I'm the fella you came in with

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck be a lady tonight

    Oh, tonight

    Oh, tonight

    Ah, tonight

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Doesn't Frank Sinatra sing that song?

But seriously, Neyer says the Royals should get a big bat, which might be true, but if i were them I think I'd rather pick up a Starter. Of course, if the Royals want to pick up a bat over an arm then that would be fine with me b/c we all know that good pitching beats good hitting(i.e. 2000- White Sox swept by Mariners). If they pick up another bat and end up making the playoffs, they still wont make it past the 1st round.

  7. I'd have a hard time turning down $500,000 ... especially if I'm a pitcher.  Who knows if your arm will go out on you?

    "Take the money".

I'll have to agree with JimH here. If you go to college and get hurt then you wont get anything(if you can't come back), but then again I understand the point that some people make when they say that if a player goes to college and gets hurt then at least he'll have a degree. Personally, I think I would take the money if I was drafted and offered $500,000 for a signing bonus as it is said Veal was offered.

By the way, ya'll are doing a GREAT job on the draft reports! I'm really glad ya'll are doing this. I love finding out about these players we drafted.

  8. Wrist injuries are VERRRY slow to heal.

Yeah they are, and that's what sucks about them. My brother broke his wrist 2 1/2 years ago in a lacrosse game, and to this day it still hurts him when he does certain things. Oh, and does anyone know what the old college injury to Anderson's wrist was? I mean, did he break it or what? thanks

  9. All you have to do is find players you really like that are likely to be 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounders and overdraft them, with the agreement they will sign for less than slotted money, but more than they would get if they went in a later round.

That's a good idea, Rex. I never thought about us just overdrafting players that we like and sign them for less than a regular first round pick in the slot we draft them. If that would be the case, then I wouldnt mind at all having a lot of 1st picks.

  10. I've got a question about offering arbitration to our FA's this year(Colon,Alomar, Everett, etc.) My first thought after we made the trades for Alomar and Everett was, "well, even if we still dont make the playoffs, we'll at least get comp. picks for them." But, I dont think we will offer all of these players arbitration because if we do we might end up having one of them sign with us for more than we'd want them to, or if we offer all of them arbitration, and they all sign elswhere, wouldnt that be 4 first round picks for us, and 3 1st round supplemental picks. If this is the case, then wouldn't we we kinda have too many 1st round/1st round sup. picks to sign. That would be a lot of money in signing bonus' that we'd have to pay, and knowing the White Sox, they probably wouldn't pay everyone. So anyway, here's my question: What do ya'll think the white sox will do about arbitration with our FA's and who do ya'll think we'll offer arbitration to?

By they way, sorry if this is kind of a confusing post, I'm kinda in a hurry.

  11. I really like Brandon McCarthy, and I'm glad to see him putting up such great numbers. I just wish Daniel Haigwood could be pitching too because I think both of them would be a really dominating 1-2 punch at the top of the pitching order.

  12. Instead of calling the big shots with some drama, he calls everyone just the same, whether it's 380 or 580 feet. Being at home, i'd expect the commentator to give me some sort of idea where this ball is going to end up.

I totally agree. Did anyone else hear Berman use "And that one landed in Lake Michigan" or something like that and it was the shortest homerun Pujols hit. I think Berman just uses those phrases just to use them and doesnt really care when he uses them.
