  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) I totally mimicked this move today and nailed a piece of trash into the trashcan from halfway across a room. 2017 post of the year, this far.
  2. .259 / .315 / .472 41 HR / 32 2b's / 106 RBI Half of which comes with the Sox and the other half with the Mets.
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Another simple way of looking at the contract. Starting pitching prices are going to keep inflating the next few years. Most teams will be priced out. Q's will stay static. Not every team can buy a championship like the cubs. Just think of how creative our front office has had to be the last 15 years. Always a piece or two short, betting on bargain veterans having bouncebacks, all due to financial restraints. Our biggest contract is still 66M and we play in Chicago. Trust me when I say there will always be plenty of teams willing to back the prospect truck up to get Q, so waiting for that truck is fine. Every team needs a 5-6 WAR LH SP in his prime at $10M, especially teams like us and the Pitates. Value won't be going down at all if we wait into the season. I bet it goes up. Think about all the tight races that will be happening in May/June. Each one of those GMs AND owners knows that any team could snatch up Q at any moment. Value through the roof. "s*** what if they get Quintana they might pull away. What if we got Quintana? Call Hahn offer Bregman, I want to go for this sucker this year!" I'm fine waiting until the pressure of being in races starts hitting some clubs. I predict a Mid-May to Mid-June trade and might prefer that.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:13 PM) It was on WSCR last year, someone filling in for Lawrence Holmes interviewed him. I guess that means there's no archived audio of it online?
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:01 PM) ...Merkin made it seem pretty clear last night in an interview that Hahn would likely need to come down from his very high ask to get a deal done... Do you have a link to this interview? I'd love to hear it.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 09:41 PM) Some good conversation here. So ambiguous. Only grows my angst.
  7. Can I please write a script that injects a post after everyone else's post that says: "PLEASE GOD MAKE IT STOP". I'd only leave it on until he's traded. Pretty please?
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 08:22 PM) I've seen many people use it. i'm not a fan of it as it tries to teach how to throw too hard and thus really put a great deal of strain on the UCL while pitching. Not a fan of the kids attitude of trying to throw that hard. Really sets him up for injuries in the future. Thanks for the insight, as always - brother.
  9. If the Marlins suck by the deadline and decide to sell - anyone think RH tries to trade for Stanton?
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) How is Kopech a dbag for throwing hard? It's not about him throwing hard -- it's his demeanor and attitude. Some humility will eventually do him good.
  11. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) I'd prefer if he had a goal of lowering his walk rate. Yup. Dude needs some humble pie. I want him to be a bad ass but it's also already kinda hard to root for him.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) Seriously. Is hi8is expecting him to be here this coming season or something? Nope - until he's traded he's on our team thou. He's just the next guy that came to mind - for obvious reasons.
  13. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) I hope that's not his normal delivery. I've seen him do that for a couple years now in drills... someone more informed will have more insight but I suspect it's a drill to build drive towards the plate. Never seen it that pronounced thou. Crazy.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) Astros started out with something of a bang as well this off-season... Ah yes - truth, you speak.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) Take out the 2 Sox moves, and this is the lamest off season I think I've ever experienced. This... unless you're a Mariners fan.
  16. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Get over it Houston. Geoff Blum happened...he even works for you now. It's a thing of the past and it's time to move on.
  17. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) Fangraphs chat also gave us the Levinian Robles-for-Robertson swap. They are not gods of baseball, and they often are just making s*** up in those chats. Yea... that was retard.
  18. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) from FG But I read here from many Soxtalk poster that there is no way to get more value than right now!
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 10:07 AM) I lean towards Bautista myself. I have little hope for Heyward's bat and for now his defense is carrying him but as that 6'5" 240lb frame ages his defense will drop off. Just thought I would ask to pass a little time and perhaps, some gas. The dude would be 42 by the end of that contract. Yuck.
  20. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) So a Sox leak to Levine followed by a 'Stros leak to Rosenthal. Posturing from both sides. They're dancing... awe, ain't it cute.
  21. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 06:20 AM) I'd rather have Bats at 2y $40m though. Also, Bats is the better player and has been all of Heyward's career. The age difference muddles their future but still, I'll take Bautista. The question was Bats at 6 / 150 or Heyward at what he signed for
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 06:30 AM) Something happens today or we sacrifice Kyle. But it's not Wednesday.
