  1. Is the Bears' offensive line good? No. It's not Is Luke Getsy designing game plans to help get the most out of Justin Fields? No... I honestly have no idea what he's even trying to accomplish actually. He's only had 4 designed runs all year, that is coaching malpractice. That said, first acknowledging those things, Justin's absolutely been a factor in his own failure here. The pass protection isn't great but it doesn't help when Justin stands there for 4 seconds staring at open WRs and doesn't throw the ball. The thing about playing QB is if you're good enough to start in the NFL, you'll see evidence of it even if everything around you is on fire and you're not able to play to your full potential. If you asked me last season if I saw that in Justin Fields I would've said yes, of course, and the list of reasons you'd give for his lack of production wasn't excuses, it was explanations. But now the future is here and he's regressed - some of that is on the coaches, but if you have the goods, you'd do something other than passively sink to the level of mediocrity around you. Fields has out-of-this-world physical tools and he was said to have extremely high intelligence, he's gotta be better than this.
  2. Matt Eberflus is a sentient jar of mayonnaise who would fit right in as one of Jerry's employees, if the Bears were a Reinsdorf team. Dude has mastered the art of deflecting blame and shielding his staff from accountability at the same time.
  3. The Bears looked like the '89 49ers compared to the Giants
  4. Fields was bad today but not bad enough to be singled out. Literally the entire team (except Santos) was ass today. Getsy's game plan was the most asinine I've ever seen - Fields had 3 passes attempted over 10 yards on 37 attempts. They didn't even TRY to get anything to Moore. The OL and DL were bad. The Packers offense wasn't really doing anything in the first half so the defense LITERALLY just let the Packers' mediocre, inexperienced WRs get as wide open as possible (one time they did this on 2 straight plays as if they were making up for it not working the first time).
  5. White Sox (made of prospects acquired and developed from failed rebuild) 28 games under .500 AAA affiliate: 30 games under, last place AA affiliate: 11 under, last place High-A: 6 under Low-A: 3 under Rookie: 14 under, last place Jerry Reinsdorf: let's promote the guy in charge of this farm system and make him GM. My reason for doing this is that he is familiar with our organization. This is a good reason.
  6. I can't even get mad about this. I just don't even fucking care. I think that is actually a level below anger.
  7. It could always get worse, Reinsdorf could hire, say, Dave Wilder for GM
  8. I would feel even better if Jerry announced he was selling the team and retiring so we wouldn't be the 2010s Washington Redskins of baseball anymore, but I'll take what I can get.
  9. Robert is one of the few areas of genuine excellence this team has
  10. Do people forget what absolute clown shoes Ozzie was at the end of his time managing? He got fired for a reason
  11. My takeaway from this is that TA cares more than people think, or give him credit for.
  12. You don't get more dramatic of an ending than a walk-off grand slam
  13. Damn baby, you must be the Chicago White Sox, cuz you look bad as hell
  14. There's just no path forward for this roster as it exists without Lonzo, he's what made the whole thing work
  15. Robert looked like ass a few weeks ago, and then suddenly he didn't. If only the rest of the lineup could figure it out like he did.
  16. Right now I would just settle to see him have a positive WAR season first. Baby steps.
  17. Well also a lot of the regular posters and longtime members that are still active are old as hell now. I was 25 when I joined this board, now 41, and I think I'm probably in the younger quartile of members on here. All parts of this board used to be active well after midnight, now everyone's in bed by 9 pm
  18. I really don't remember people being optimistic and excited until the COVID season tbh
  19. I think a lot of people turned on him in 2019 after (predictably) failing to sign Machado and/or Harper, at least to my point of view. People were steaming mad
  20. I remember when she said this I thought it was kinda odd that she commented but I wasn't mad. I was like, well yeah. That is after all how they ended up with Dallas Keuchel in the first place.
  21. I mean to be totally fair Yoan was elite in 2019 and we thought he turned a corner in the way that Anderson did the same year. Then he s%*# the bed and started getting injured every 10 games, that's not really overconfident of us, imo Yeah we kinda did overhype Jimenez, he's an above-average hitter who can't field and who is as durable as toilet paper, Giolito didn't live up to the hype but he's honestly not been that bad. Kopech and Robert we were just going off the talent we knew they had and the flashes of brilliance we saw from them but they've both been significantly derailed by injuries, and then being swallowed by the general shittiness of this team. I don't think we were overhyping them though, we were talking about their ceilings as players if they properly developed, which didn't happen (or hasn't yet).
  22. Prior to this year I used to think Luis Robert was amazing and hyped him up so much, now I'm not sure anymore. Dude has gotten his hitting numbers out of the shitter and back to respectability, but he gives these vibes where he seems like he's checked out or only partially engaged. I didn't think that about him before. It's like he absorbed it from the team somehow.
  23. When I read these quotes last week the one that stood out to me was when he said he never cared about making money and he only wanted to win. LOL how stupid does he think everyone is?
