  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) i know its only an outing and a half, but masset looks good again He loses cool points for letting all 3 inherited runners score IMO.
  2. I really have no issues with aggressive interrogations. Obvious torture, no, but the other stuff works and when you're dealing with scum of the earth types you'd best to have good tools at your disposal. But stuff like that really isn't meant to be discussed openly in public.
  3. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) By the way, was Danks throwing his cutter at all tonight? I thought that was the new Coop approved magic pitch. fastball fastball fastball fastball fastball slider fastball fastball fastball fastball changeup fastball fastball fastball fastball... And whenever it was something off-speed it was almost always a ball.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) Danks just wasn't himself.. I'm not gonna question him after this outing. Me either. It's going to take until at least late May to get a good handle on what kind of pitcher he's going to be and what adjustments he's made. That being said, I will look forward to the tone of the threads until his next start which will be something along the lines of "KW needs to DFA Danks and trade Fields for a pitcher"
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) that won't happen....we're living or dying with this starting 5. I think calling up Broadway is a reasonable gamble if one of them sucks really bad.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Floyd? Either him, or the other Sox pitcher in there at the moment whose name sounds nothing at all like Floyd.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Danks better be pitching 000000 for alot of outings cause his era is going to look like s*** for a good while. It's only 8.00 after about 9 or 10 innings, that isn't horrible if he pulls his head out of his ass.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) I know you hate the guy, but come on... haha, I get those 2 guys confused all the time. Both are underachieving pitchers who we got around the same time. I have no issues with Floyd actually, just low expectations and crossed fingers.
  9. Ok, Floyd may have ended that inning without getting any runs charged to his ERA, but he damn sure did his best Buckvich impression by letting all the inherited runners score to inflate the guy he relieved. Ugh.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Did I mention I f***ing hate the Twins? Ugh they don't even have the common courtesy to whoop ass properly... if this was a fistfight they'd just be b**** slapping us until we were unconscious.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) Tag another run for Danks. Masset wasted no time on that one did he?
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) I'm still reluctant to give Danks the #3 starter crown. What choice do we have
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) ? The fact that he can only get one pitch over with any accuracy, but his high pitch counts and inefficiency is about par for the course... but that was a problem that pretty much stemmed from the first
  14. This might be the worst I can remember seeing Danks at any time. I guess the good news is that it's uncharacteristic of him.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) He's basically a one pitch pitcher tonight with his average fastball. Yeah on Gameday it's like 95% of his pitches are fastballs, ugh. I saw him throw maybe one slider.
  16. QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Which is why I mentioned Carmona originally. Pitchers like Brandon Webb and Carmona and Maddux in his prime and Garland to an extent can get away with pitching to contact, because they keep the ball on the ground. Being a flyball pitcher and pitching to contact is a recipe for disaster. Especially in either Chicago park which are basically like Little League stadiums.
  17. Anybody else already feeling the pain in our asses that will be the Royals all year? I've been saying "the Royals are gonna be a lot better next year" for the last 3 years or so and I'm afraid I might be right this time.
  18. Basically, they didn't make any permanent structural fixes to Joe's back, they just reset the "pain meter" to zero. Am I about right? That's the way I understood it.
  19. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) You may be a Sox fan but deep down inside you were hoping Crede would fail, so your man-crush Fields could come up. I can't believe you said it would be moronic to trade Fields for Harden or Lincecum! These players are easily double the value of Fields. I expected to be called a moron for even suggesting Fields is worth the value of Lincecum or Harden. Harden would be an injury risk, but he's dominant. Lincecum is just plain filthy. If we got either we would be contenders for real. Guess what? The Sox have money and no one player is going to "suck payroll flexibility" as you put it. YOU think before you post son. Dude please just stop that... nobody wants to be all mad when they see a new post in this thread, click it, and find out that all the new posts are part of the same petty garbage ass argument that's got nothing to do with anything. Nobody wins.
  20. If Contreras really blows that bad I don't think the org. will keep him in the rotation for that long, and they'd put him in long relief and call up Broadway or Egbert. I was thinking about making a thread about this but I'd rather do it once he has a good few starts to gauge him by.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 12:20 PM) In the 2nd half of 06 he was actually pretty bad with the bat. Anderson level or worse. Post all star break that year his line was .258/.307/.398/.705. In August he put up a .668 OPS and September .590. The offense that was clicking in the first half struggled more in the 2nd half by all accounts, and Mack was as much a part of that as any. 2006 splits aside, I think Mack has proven to be a pretty decent hitter throughout his career. Not an All-Star, but plenty serviceable.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) Hopefully, in a couple more weeks, Mr. Danks will make you regret this statement. I think he will, but Contreras won't.
  23. Again, say what you want about Macowiak as a CF, but I simply can't recall him ever hampering our offense... if he did, then he wouldn't have been in CF ahead of Anderson.
  24. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) I dont really hate him. I dislike his policy. Clinton... yea, I hate her pure evil. The only policy of his that I have a clear dislike for is his Iraq policy. It's shortsighted and narrow. The problem is that is basically his entire campaign for all intents and purposes.
