  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) Anderson. Oh. Yeah. Damn do I feel dumb.
  2. I don't really care that the Clintons are filthy rich and pandering to the middle and lower class, that's not what bothers me about Hillary. I mean, Edwards is pretty damn far from being broke, and Obama isn't hurting these days either. I'd imagine Ron Paul and John McCain are pretty comfortable.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) That's good. Think KW is pissed because Ozzie's won't play one of his former first round picks? Broadway?
  4. QUOTE(Linnwood @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) The whole "I believe" monologue has to be one of the most over quoted lines of all time. I believe people should get over the fact that the AL uses a DH.
  5. lol he sounds like Stephen Colbert. I kind of like Glenn Beck though.
  6. Jose Contreras is a terrific pitcher. By terrific, I mean a combination of terrible and horrific.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) absolutely. Add into that how good Boone looks and that Thornton should be solid too, and the Sox have the makings of a pretty solid bullpen. MacDougal's a wild card, and Masset's a big whogivesaf***, but I love it. I do think if MacDougal struggles enough and Wasserman keeps on producing at AAA, MacDougal will be optioned/traded/DFAed (or hell, maybe all 3) and Wasserman will be up soon enough. lol that would be awesome. Trade, then optioned to AAA, followed by DFA.
  8. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/03/mcc...tour/index.html I actually wondered the same thing. He goes around talking about himself and we are expected to think this is just some "get to know who I am" tour? Why didn't he do this oh.... during 2005 or 2006? If this was just a get to know me tour, why only NOW during a presidential race? That argument doesn't work against Obama, and it doesn't work against McCain, either. McCain is a politician so it's pretty obvious what he's doing.
  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) bullpen looks improved, but lets not forget how good the bullpen was in april last year too If you asked me my opinion of Aardsma halfway thru April of last year I would've said "that guy is a PIMP." Obviously he is a complete failure though.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) I love flyballs listening to Farmer, I never have a clue of what's happening It's hilarious to me when Hawk goes "THAT BALL HIT HARD TO... deep left center... and it's caught. 2 outs.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) I agree, but next week you're going to get a leadoff man who can't get on base....... but he's fast!!!!!!!!!!!!! darn it, I don't think a 3 run inning ever felt so bad. Huge inning for BP to hold them to zero It's not completely inconceivable that Owens could get on base at about .350, but reading all the hate for the guy here you'd think his OBP would be about .280. he hasn't sucked like that since the first couple months after getting called up.
  12. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) quentin was on third, crede on second, 0 outs. uribe grounded out, out at 1st, but crede and quentin apparently thought a run on contact-play was on, so both took off, they threw out uribe then doubled off quentin quickly at 3rd, crede remained at 2nd, it was brutal. So basically it's every bit as dumb as it sounds. Nice.
  13. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) It's a shame/or will be a shame, but BA will more than likely go down. I would have send him down even if he had gotten at-bats cause Quentin has nothing to prove in AAA whereas BA you could say.. still does despite having a bad wrist. (which needed surgery) And as soon as I say Crede has a good game, he has a brain fart. I don't mean to knock him in any way, but I have a strong feeling right now that if anybody should go down right now it should be Ramirez.
  14. Last Play: J. Uribe grounded into double play third to first to first to catcher, C. Quentin out at home lol what?
  15. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Even Crede is having a nice game today.. wow. Crede's OPS in the last 3 years at Comerica is murderous. Probably like 1.100.
  16. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) I'll disagree with you there. I think Jeter is a hell of a player. He is a Hall of Fame hitter but he is probably the most overrated defender I've ever seen (although he isn't bad). He makes all these flashy plays that make it to ESPN but the truth is he has limited range, and they are plays that a better defensive SS makes routinely.
  17. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) OC won the gold glove at SS last year. Uribe did not. And although it's not totally defensive based...Uribe's arm is what makes him good on Defense, not his actual defense...except for 05. Derek Jeter also has multiple Gold Gloves and he is nowhere near as good as either of them.
  18. QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) I'm with ya. He's made a couple nice plays, but I think Uribe is the better defensive shortstop. I was trying to dance around saying that in the "glass half empty" thread but I didn't want to get flamed by Uribe haters (of which I happen to be one). As good of a player he is and as much of a major upgrade he is overall, he is still a downgrade defensively.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) You do realize that in the last 2 months last year he was 5-3 with a 3.76 ERA. As long as you realize that I'm not the one who said Contreras is done, just that he sucks horribly
  20. QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Who said small ball is a myth? /blush It'd be nice to see another bomb just to prove my point right about now though.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) You are missing my point. You say since Contreras was bad last year, and shaky his first start this year, he is done. Buerhle was bad in 2006. If his first start in 2007 was like his start this year on opening day, he would be in the same spot, and I suppose to you that is stick a fork in him done. No... the whole point here is that Buehrle's performance last year and in the spring can justify calling it an anomaly while Contreras's performance for the last year and a half simply can't. It's been a very long time since he's shown anything. At all. I had close to zero confidence in him coming into this year and I have even less now. Ironically that seems to be his problem b/c there doesn't really appear to be anything wrong with him physically.
  22. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) that's a very fun age, isn't it? If "fun" is described as "having everything in the house destroyed and thrown down the stairwell while he giggles" then yeah, it's a blast. But seriously it really is fun.
  23. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Jones might be garbage but against us he is Babe Jones Corey Patterson is like that too... he sucks, but against us he will hit 5 HRs in a series.
  24. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) I think it was in 05 I saw Jeff Kent steal a base off Jose My 18 month old could steal off Jose if he had a big enough leadoff.
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) So then if Buerhle's first start last season was like his first start this season, with as awful of a second half he had in 2006, he would be done. Stick a fork in him. Your argument is beyond ridiculous. If Gavin Floyd had the same start Contreras is having today, there would be people on here that would be excited. Buehrle's first start last season ended early because he took a line drive off his hand... didn't even matter in the end. Contreras on the other hand had an even worse outing last year than he is having now and followed it up with a season even a #5 starter would be ashamed of.
