  1. Everyone says this about the NBA all the time and I want to know when this mythical time was everyone speaks of, where the NBA was balanced and people didn't have a general idea of who'd be in the conference finals in October. In my lifetime (I'm 37) it's basically been Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, Lakers, Spurs, Heat, Warriors with a few blips here and there and the league is as popular as it's ever been.

Any of the Saints, Bears, Eagles, or Seahawks would've been a better game.

Even though I'm not really sure what they were trying to do at the time, the Eddy Curry trade ended up being one of the best trades in franchise history. Maybe behind the Pippen deal and that's probably it.

This was KC's first home playoff win since, what, like 1359 AD? I literally can't even remember the last time.

    The Hawk Harrelson tribute thread

I'm sitting at work on a long night shift and hadn't watched his last inning yet, and I have nothing better to do so I gave it a go. That was harder to watch than I thought. Hawk sniffling and trying to talk over his sobbing the whole inning.

Everyone notices what goes wrong with plays when they don't work, but when they do they just assume it was some feat of skill by the player.

When someone asked Pace directly about Parkey's dead money against the cap, Pace said the most important thing is performance. For a guy who doesn't tend to give much of anything with regards to clues on his future plans that's a startlingly direct statement. Loosely translated, it means he's gonna bring in a couple UDFA kickers and Parkey is definitely going to be cut before they break camp, because he's got enough cap space in 2019 to take the hit.

The people who whined when Fangio dropped Khalil Mack into coverage are going to HATE Pagano (I'm not sure what they think disguising a blitz looks like, but still! You want a predictable, conservative defense? Rush Mack on every down and watch what happens).

I think they're being careful because of how they owned themselves with the totally unnecessary risk with the Ray McDonald situation. Hunt is far better (and his situation might even be easier to navigate from a PR standpoint) but they used up a lot of goodwill for no reason at all a few years ago. I think they'll back off if there's an outcry in reaction to this.

    Kyler Murray to NFL?

I read a scouting report that said he needs a step stool to see over his OL.

I feel like there's a middle ground between "he was inadequate all year and predictably fell short at a critical point like we all feared" and "yo death threats because a kicker missed a field goal is way too much" and people are trying to push the pendulum back towards "he wasn't that bad and nothing is his fault."

McCarthy's time in the NFL can't be considered anything other than a success but I do think it's a legitimate question how much of that was just having Rodgers on the roster. This is the specific reason I never liked John Fox.

Why would either of these three coaches be the highest paid? This "cheap" narrative is from the 80s and it needs to be murdered already. In 2019, when the Bears need to pay someone, they pay them. Nagy's making a typical salary for a first-year head coach, if he has a lot of success he'll get extended and make more, just like Lovie did.

I'm not going to minimize the influence Fangio had, but talent > scheme (unless you go full Lovie and hire Bob Babich). There are plenty of quality defensive coordinators that could be had. The Bears are also a 3-4 team on paper but didn't play their base defense very often, the hybrid scheme is the norm these days.

They don't need a WR better than Robinson, they need a speedy guy who can reliably run vertical routes. Taylor Gabriel is just ok. Much as I hated Johnny "Caused Half Of Cutler's Fucking Interceptions" Knox, he would fit perfectly in this offense right now.

That's a fair take. I think Robinson is a solid option though. Hopefully Miller takes that next stop next season, the learning curve for WRs is steep.

Brady didn't have a great statistical season this year. Dude is 40-something, he was good, but this wasn't vintage Brady.

Gabriel's catch radius was definitely a thing this year. Especially early on before Trubisky figured out his stride, if the throw wasn't perfect Gabriel wasn't completing it.
