Man, this is brutal. Absolutely undermines a ton of Getz' leverage now and may force him to take a giant risk on Cease by holding onto him until the deadline. This is a big kick to nuts not just because it makes one of our suitors (still) far less desperate, but with such a mediocre return it also potentially lowers the price on Cease. That's tough. What a fucking blow.

If the Rangers are involved you can assume the players the Sox would be targeting would be INF Justin Foscue and SP Brock Porter.

I'm willing to overlook a .230 batting average when his elite walk rate still gives him a .330+ OBP, game breaking speed, above average power, and CF defense. He's ranked among their top prospects for a reason, and that's all despite his swing and miss. And again, I'm taking about him as a 3rd piece in a trade that includes Bryce Miller and someone else in between.

I'd love a package headlined by Bryce Miller with OF Jonatan Clase in there somewhere as well. Miller has great metrics. I love to dream on that K/BB ratio and his power fastball. Clase is an absolute speed demon switch hitter. 79 SB last season to go along with 20 HR who plays in all 3 OF positions. He also did this in AA, so he's not far off from the majors. He's very intriguing to me as maybe a 3rd piece in the deal.

Lol so Jim Bowden, the guy who just a month ago proposed Cease to Reds for Jonathan India and Ty Floyd (Reds #12 prospect and no where near the top 100) is now saying Cease is worth Mayer (Red Sox #1, #11 overall) + Winkleman (BOS #9) and Duran (Better than India, 2 more years of control). Ok, Jim. 🤷

Thanks. The Sox would basically be replacing Liam's contract with Jansen's while *buying* a top prospect like Rafaela (if we're comparing it to the MLB.com deal). Maybe the Red Sox have to throw in a little bit of money for the Sox to give up Santos back, I don't know, but there is some wiggle room there.

I will say this for the Pirates, the current state of the division does make sense for them to go for it NOW. The Brewers are scaling back and getting worse and the Cubs haven't completely opened up their unlimited funds yet. This might be a good 2 year window for them to strike before the Cubs stock up large FAs, the Brewers reset with the Burnes trade, and the Reds fully mature. Over the next 5 years, these might be their best 2 year window. 🤷

I don't understand why the Pirates would be in on Cease🫠, but Temarr Johnson is definitely a very exiting player to get back, so I think him combined with Jared Jones could headline a really competitive offer similar to something the Orioles could offer.

Yamamoto to the Blue Jays or Mets works out best for the Sox trading Cease.

Why are people upset about the Sox adding a bonafide defensive catcher for a couple million $$?? Are you upset over the PTBNL that you don't know the identity of yet? They could literally dump Stassi in ST if he's really that bad, however, given how he's an elite defensive catcher it's clear they are continuing to give our young pitchers every benefit they can next season. This is a low risk, low ceiling move. Nothing to be too excited about but certainly nothing to be upset about ether.

That's what I'm saying. Cole is the only one you can count on. They have a very shaky rotation. They need 2 reliable SP to anchor that behind Cole. Obviously they will be in on Yamamoto, but if they don't convert on him, they might be desperate. This is why I've been saying I wanted Getz to wait on Cease until the FA SP thins out. The Yankees just created another SP hole by trading away King. Now they should become a suitor, especially since they have 5 or 6 starting OFers now, and that's counting Stanton who has locked up that DH spot.

They need 2. Cole, Rodon, Cortes, and Schmidt is their current rotation. That's 1 ace with 3 question marks behind. They need 2 SP.

Yankees thin rotation gets even thinner. Their OF gets even more crowded. Yankees should put a package together around Jasson Dominguez for Dylan Cease.

Baltimore and the White Sox each need one more prospect from ATL for that. Smith-Shawver + Waldrep seems light for Cease and Baltimore swapping Kjerstad for Waldrep seems light for them too.

Yea, it's clear what Jim Bowden thinks of Dylan Cease at this point and luckily everyone more credible than him thinks much more highly.
