  1. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Article mentions Selig's opposition to charging extra for games that do not include the Cubs. Now that makes more sense. Surcharge for games versus the Cubs but not between other teams. Sounds like a reasonable compromise to me. Yeah, I agree. Games vs. The Cubs sounds fair to up the charge, but not a game vs. 2 non-Cubs teams.
  2. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) I might have to change my pick to Vazquez, didn't even think SP's. You didn't even read the OP? I picked Vazquez.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) I think it's a bit of a confusing question Would I want the magglio of what...06 07 08? hell yeah, Do I want the magglio of 10? Not so much. If we are taking a players best year and putting it on that team, that's one thing, I thought we are adding a player we want on our team today that we lost. In that case, Vazquez. The rotation would be ridiculous and our bullpen would be the least used. I mean current players in their current skillset. Otherwise I would have definitely picked 2006 Joe Crede.
  4. Great call on Carlos Lee, I totally forgot about him. However, Lee was off the team by the end of 2004, which was over 5 years ago.
  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) It doesnt sound like you're talking about reversing-trades, but just taking back one guy. So if that's the case, Chris Carter Right, just simply adding a lost player back on. I see where you are going with Chris Carter, but I was aiming more towards adding to the current team, unless you are inferring that Carter would be a starter for us in 2010.
  6. If you could have 1 player back on the roster that we lost via trade/FA in the past 5 years, who would it be? Contract not an issue. For me, I would say I would like Javier Vazquez back. I can't even imagine how filthy our rotation would be if we have Peavy, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, and Floyd with Sweaty Freddy and Hudson as our back-ups. We already have a top 3 rotation in baseball, but this would give us the obvious #1. The only thing about that is Vazquez is probably just a product of the NL and will not have close to the same year he did in '09, but even if AL self would make an excellent 3rd starter. My 2nd choice was CF Chris Young of the Diamondbacks. Interesting enough, he was the one traded for Javy Vazquez when we got him from AZ a few years ago. Chris Young had an awful 2009, that is why I didn't choose him, but he has great skills and can be a 5-tool player if he can get back to where he was in 2008. Young would take CF with Rios moving to RF, Pierre in LF, and Quentin as the DH.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) I hope so. My ancient Zune has FM. I hope so. My sexy new Zune HD has FM.
  8. Dayan Viciedo - Hot Fire (Chappelle show reference to Dylan)
  9. Yes, as a baseball fan I want to see Mauer stay, but as a fan of an AL Central team, I would love for him to change divisions.
  10. #2 scares the hell out of me. #1 would almost surely mean be win the divison, and if they both happen, we could be a very good team.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 01:25 AM) Damon is a terrible fielder and has an arm comparable to Juan Pierre. Paul Konerko would be able to go from 1st to 3rd if Damon played right field. Well according to UZR, Damon had a -9.2 in LF, while Quentin had a -15. Also, Damon's UZR/150 was -12.1, while Quentin's was a staggering -25.4. Damon also had a better RngR as well. I think they are both pretty bad in the OF. Now it seems the question is do the want to superior arm in RF while risking more injury to your best power hitter who has struggled with a foot problem all last season? I suspect Ozzie will throw Q in RF and just cross his fingers he does not hurt himself.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 01:17 AM) Damon. Damon is not the superior fielder? I know Quentin has the better arm (obviously), but aren't we still worried about Quentin's plantar injury and reducing the stress he puts on it seems like a good idea.
  13. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Neither AJ or Damon were Gators. They both went to high school at Dr. Phillips though. Damon graduated in 1992, AJ in 1994. I know AJ is a huge Gator fan even though he committed to play baseball at Tennessee (obviously didn't go). Maybe he said "They are both a part of Gator Nation". They really made it seem like he went there, even using AJ as a segway for Alex Brown who went to Florida.
  14. Interesting thing to note. The host of the show was talking about Alex Brown and AJ both being former Gators. The host then said "And you know, AJ and Johnny Damon were teammates on that Florida team, that must have been great huh AJ? Pretty good team with you two on it" They then go to a shot of AJ and he was shaking his head saying "No, not really".
  15. On TV now!. AJ won the award for Sox player of the year. Chuck Garfien is presenting it now.
  16. I don't blame Dye for thinking of excuses for his bad performance. The guy is looking for a team, and it appears he is having trouble. He is not putting down the Sox in any way, he is just trying to raise his own stock. I would still love to have JD back to DH for us.
  17. Interesting how low AJ is on that list. Was he not a top 3 catcher in the AL behind Mauer and V-Mart? Have not looked up other catchers numbers, but from memory I can assume a top 5 in the AL at worst.
  18. Like others said, if Ap is good with it, I am good with it. When I was choosing between a Nellie Fox jersey or his, good thing I picked Fox.
  19. Wow, what elitists. If they bring in all that money, then pay for your own damn stadium!
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) If he retires, that's his decision, but to retire at age 32 and leave that much money, pitching success, and potential memories on the table as a baseball player makes no sense. This isn't like football where you risk your health and limb at all times. And I think if Buehrle pitches until about 41, he has a chance to be a H.O.F if he can get around 280-300 wins. World Series Ring, Gold Glove, All-star appearances, 2 No-hitters, Perfect Game. In 9 years he could had 1 more to each one of those things.
  21. It's depressing to hear, but I hope he retires with the Sox and does not say he is done, and then go to St. Louis for 3-4 years.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Being one of the best #5 starters in baseball would make him a #4 or even a #3 starter. I didn't say he'd be the #4 in the Sox rotation - it's pretty obvious that Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd, and Danks are all better than him currently. Ok. Yeah, I thought you meant he can be the #4 guy in our rotation, which won't happen obviously. I can def. see him being a #3 quality starter this year as well.
