Twins already up on Gausman and threatening for more.

Eight starts left for Giolito in a Sox uniform. Hope it’s a good one.

Hendricks no hitter thru 6. 68 pitches.

Sox have to go 4-3 vs Twins the rest of the way to clinch a tie.
The other 89, Sox would have to go 51-38 for 84 wins.
Under 10% still makes sense. Not expecting much in LA and Seattle.

Correa grand slam. 5-3 Twins

Goddammit. I’m starting to worry that they will not be sufficiently punished for having a bad April. Watch them make the playoffs, then everyone will forget aaalllll about it. F*** this
A fair take. I still don’t think the central winner makes it to a best of 5 series, and possibly wins the 3-seed with a losing record. That would still mean everyone should be fired. Hahn would probably spike the football if they win this s%*# division.

Guardians win in 14. Day off the schedule.
Kudos to the Sox pen. Middleton has been a great addition.

The Moncada thing is what it is at this point, and it will be resolved in about 16 months. He’s getting almost 30 mil next year for not being very good. If he gets it together, great. If not, his career is over at 30, and he’s still very rich.

52 division games total this season. Sox have played half at 15-11.
Twins 20: 12-8, haven’t played the Tigers yet
Guardians 19: 8-11, haven’t played Royals yet

Anyone think he didn’t feel like running on what he perceived as a routine double play ball, and then when it was thrown away, he had to fake it? I’m not saying that by the way. I say it was a cramp and he plays tonight.

Wheeler no hitting the Tigers through 7. He's at 100 pitches though, so likely to be done.
Feel bad for their rosy-cheeked rookie pitcher Olson, in line for another tough luck loss after 5IP/1ER.
That’s sad if true. A guy like Wheeler should be given the opportunity to get a career moment, even if it takes 135 pitches.
it’s over- but the point stands

So what’s the lineup if they lost? That should be the lineup as penalty for once being 14 under .500. But whatever…

Bumping this question. Don't want to jinx Game 2.
Just my humble opinion, but all 162 get their own thread.

So replay doesn’t favor the Yankees?

They going to try to get him through the 5th and he’ll undoubtedly give up 2 more runs?

5 AL teams under .500, and four of them are in the Central. Wait a month…there will be five under .500 Central teams.
Sup?

Only way they do 4 divisions of 8 is if they break up the AL and NL and do a full on geographic realignment. Central teams will absolutely fight having division opponents on the west coast.
SD, LAD, LAA, SF, OAK(LV), SEA, ARI, COL
HOU, TEX, KC, STL, MIN, MIL, CHW, CHC
NSH*, DET, CLE, CIN, PIT, ATL, TB, MIA
MON*, TOR, BOS, NYY, NYM, PHI, BAL, WAS
Yes, this is what they should do. Play the 7 teams in your division 13 games= 91
And if they like playing every team so much, the other 24 teams x 3= 72
That’s 163. Subtract 1 or flip 82 and 81 home games year to year.

JR and other owners of teams in the Central time zone fought for years to get out of divisions with west coast teams. They aren't going to go back. It will end up being 8 divisions of 4, just like the NFL.
That would be all types of stupid. Guess they want under .500 teams making the postseason after 162. Brilliant.

Twins/Rays scoreless after 3. Could be under .500 before the Sox game starts.
(Correa homer 1-0)

I feel incredibly dirty being excited about the Sox chances in this terrible division. Both Central's are awful. When the league expands to 32 teams I pray they go to 4 divisons of 8 and just get rid of both Central divisons. But the Sox are in the thick of this race now.
Amen. I can’t believe they’ve actually said they’ll go to 8 divisions of 4 teams, but that’s Manfred for you. Hopefully they’ll come to their senses before that happens. The smart thing is 16 teams in the Eastern time zone. 8 Central. 8 mtn/pac. Realignment. 4 division winners. 8 wildcards. But I bet they’ll go to 14 postseason teams because they can’t help themselves.
