  1. Liam has never signed for less money ever. Sox appeared to stand by him through all kinds of bullshit and I'm sure the checks still cleared. I don't get the obsession with him. Strikes me as a major tool.
  2. Getz has done a fine job with the payroll constraints he's been given. This Clevinger signing likely came from panicked ownership and had little to do with Getz.
  3. It should have been over the minute he publicly accused the Sox of treating him like a slave. Hahn had no backbone, essentially gave-in and started his clock immediately last year, instead of signing an inexpensive vet to bridge the gap, only for Oscar to live up to his name by being complete trash in every facet of the game. People here thought Colas was then singled out by Grifol when the entire team stunk, but I think the issue dated back to the instagram post. I wouldn't let him anywhere near the Charlotte clubhouse. I understand you can't set the precedent that if you misbehave you get a fresh start but hopefully enough time has passed that you can discreetly move him without shining too much light on the situation.
  4. Grifol was retained because he had a year (or more) left on his deal and Jerry wasn't about to pay two managers this season.
  5. The timing of the Cease deal was a tad odd.... why attempt to "wait out" the market then settle? If you were willing to gamble on his health through spring training, why not wait until May or the deadline when clearly the market was very soft? Well, the reason you move Dylan before opening day is then you don't have pay him. Even if the 8 million is a deal, it is still 8 million. Super frustrating.
  6. With two high end SP on the market I still don't fully understand moving Cease today unless you are very bearish on his stock moving forward during the season. Doesn't seem like a sell high situation which doesn't make a ton of sense to force it unless Robert is also going.
  7. 100%. I saw the tiktoks that I'm sure that everyone else has watched from Camelback and I cannot believe that he still had all the Bauer showmanship and cocky attitude. No look soft tossing ground ball putouts doesn't fly with any club or any coach in like 99.9999% of organized baseball. I'm very surprised he still behaved like that. It's almost like he thinks Banana ball or something similar is his only option? I was rooting for him big time but I don't think anyone wants to deal with the circus.
  8. Exactly, all kinds of new construction has been partially funded by incentives. Your local Starbucks probably has. Your local crappy art museum definitely has. Your local damn Amazon warehouse is probably getting perks. Why do we want the White Sox to not get any incentives?
  9. Who do you want to "make money" other than the guy that owns the land or the guy that owns the team?
  10. I'm not sure that the average Sox fan understands that when "these greedy billionaires" ask for "money", they are usually asking for a partial sales, property and use tax rebate (often times upfront) that the stadium will generate. This is common with tons of new construction. Guys that build even the most innocuous projects want incentives. A suburb gave me free land and a 30 year property tax abatement to build my business there. They approached me with the idea. They aren't filming half of the television content in Chicago because Hollywood likes deep dish. Just a heads up, not saying Jerry isn't an asshole, but this is standard operating procedure, especially when you don't even want a new stadium, just a new lease on the current stadium.
  11. Depends how dynamic the pricing is. Since it's introduction the Sox' version of "dynamic" has been essentially a one way street. I think the rise in labor costs have to be hurting any pipe dreams of Jerry deciding to offer cheap beer and cheap tickets to fill the park. Hard to do that when southsiderz can't be bothered to show up and serve hot dogs for $25 per hour.
  12. Turns out, TA was in a different market than Andrew Benintendi.
  13. Article definitely compared 2024 projected payroll to 2023 payroll and used that to decipher who had money left to spend. I'd like to be on record saying I love Chapman and I bet Getz does too. With that being said I really think Getz's budget is so tight that he couldn't even fire the manager or pitching coach after they underachieved by 30+ wins.
  14. Feel like the defense of Soler and TA goes against literally every position player move Getz has made thus far.
  15. Wasn't sure where to put this but if you're not trading Cease, any chance Jerry would like to bump up the Sox on this payroll tracker? Chapman and Clevinger sure don't make this club look like they are 35/1 to win the division: RF Fletcher/Pillar LF Benintendi CF Robert DH Eloy 3B Chapman 1B Vaughn 2B Moncada SS Dejong/Lopez C Stassi/Maldonado SP Cease SP Clevinger SP Fedde SP Soroka SP Kopech You probably don't trade Santos if you were going to turn around and spend 100 million but I'm personally fine roling the dice in the pen until the deadline. That lineup is my favorite in the division.
  16. We are all falling for the ultimate carrot dangle.
  17. Getz won both. The two easiest ways to win a trade in 2024: 1. Be the buyer in a fire sale. 2. Be the buyer of pre-arb talent from competitive teams that can't afford anything but immediate success from their prospects at the big league level.
  18. There will be advancements in transportation efficiency before the next ballpark even opens that should alleviate SOME of the parking concerns.
  19. Getz cannot be a fan of Vaughn's defensive ability. He is the last everyday player on the roster that projects as a below average defender.
  20. She showed up to the in-game daycare play room with the kids AFTER her husband was gone and had begun bad mouthing the organization.
  21. This is the ultimate Jerry carrot dangle
  22. Just call the game like a robot for a few years please.
  23. Tim was right. He's not in that Benintendi market.
