  1. in short , kenny should b**** at brooks and the ticket department for dynamic pricing. expensive, UNSOLD tickets is worse than cheap but SOLD tickets.
  2. no. they just have a s***ty offense behind them. unless you're humber or floyd, and you too are s***ty.
  3. they barely cracked 30k in PAID admissions last night. $49 tickets just to walk in the door, and the sox wonder why no one is coming.
  4. let's hope he keeps this up til july 31, so we can trade him for a decent prospect or two(unless kenny decides we can "win this" and gets robbie alomar again).
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) I'm confused by dynamic pricing for these games. They aren't selling out and don't seem to be selling many more tickets. (I assume many tickets were bought in the spring) Shouldn't the price be going down?one would think. or at least stay static. an upper reserved seat for the cubs series was $42(plus fees) back in feb. it's $49 now.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) That's why it's always double-talk to complain about attendance when it's not fans they want, it's fans that pay the "maximized" or idealized amount of money (from the Sox standpoint) to attend games...which isn't really fair in this economy to criticize anyone with a family for hesitating. Even if their attendance "exploded" comparatively from here on out, the best they would possibly do is 23rd in the majors. They're 27th now...and more than 500 away from 26 and 25. It will be pretty tight by the end of the Cubs' series, but they'll still be 27th despite their best drawing home series of the year. That alone is pretty indicative of how the attendance has been so far. if they started drawing 30k a night here on out, they may end up averaging 25k when the season ended. that's middle of the pack, their normal attendance rank.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) Its $90.45 for bleachers tonight. Brooks needs to avoid the person who turned him on to dynamic pricing.stubhub is actually CHEAPER for some of the seating levels.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) I agree. The fact that they are using Groupon and have different "deals" weekly does show they realize their pricing is screwed up. I do understand and agree they shouldn't alienate their season ticketholders and give someone a better deal for the same seat type the season ticketholder bought for multiple games months before the season started, although the Sox for years have never given season ticketholders a break for half price Monday tickets. Maybe if dynamic pricing wasn't used, attendance would be the same and revenue would be lower. I just find that hard to believe. They are letting too many seats go unsold which leaves empty parking spots, unsold beer and hot dogs and t-shirts. speaking as a former season ticket holder, i dont care if some seats are discounted. STH's get prime playoff tickets, reduced prices on EVERY GAME as well as reduced parking. not to mention all the other perks. the guy buying a $5 upper is not the same type of customer oas the sth. BUT, he could become someone that buys a group package, or an STH. lure them with cheap tickets, and sell them on the experience at the game.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) Why? 33k at those price points is way better than filling up the place with $5 upper deck seats in terms of revenue.yeah, the cubs sox series used to draw 40k. even when both teams were horrible.
  10. still plenty of tix left. and they're WEEKEND GAMES! meanwhile, sox failed to sell out the cub game last night. again. $49 to sit upstairs sure packs them in brooks!
  11. barely had 33k in the stands. i hope brooks chokes on all those UNSOLD "dynamic" tickets
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Scored two club passes online for $100 for Sunday. Looks like I'll be watching in style. You paid $100 for stadium club passes? You got ripped off.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) 1-800-THE-CUBS Heard it during their broadcast. Thats for INDIVIDUAL games. Sox have one as well. 1-866-SOX-GAME
  14. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) A lower deck seat was $41.05 with their deal and the PEP promo code gave me my tickets for 39.09 each. Not bad for tickets in section 102 (right field). Still, the difference isn't all that much. Might as well NOT give that money to jerry.
  15. Too bad I paid $26 back when they went on sale. Dynamic Pricing FTL!

  17. i actually have three guys i deal with, but i got a voicemail from one of the "new business" reps hawking tickets to me.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) Well, you sure can't say the Sox aren't trying everything to sell tickets. Just got a personalized email from someone in the ticket office, even though I live 288 miles from the stadium. I did tell him that if he helped me find a job in Chicago/NW Indiana, I'd guarantee to buy at least a 9-game package for 2013 :> what was in the email?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 08:03 AM) But now, when you go to priceline, travelocity, orbitz, expedia, etc., all the fares quoted are exactly the same as the others. There are very few "deals" anymore like it was possible to find. Price fixing and collusion rule the day....that's their choice, obviously. Even if you go directly to the airline's website itself, the prices are almost always the same as the other "search engine" sites list or charge. There's a lot more competition for the teams now with StubHub involved to undercut their own ticket markets significantly. stubhub/ebay/ticketsnow/ect are SECONDARY market. the prime market is still mlb.com/box office/ticketmaster/tickets.com it's the job of the primary market (like the sox) to let buyers know that they are not only he safest method to buy, but also the leader in value. dynamic pricing, where the price rises even when not a single ticket has sold in a given section, does not accomplish that. i doubt the sox are reading this, but i wish they were. maybe they can see the insanity of thier actions.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) It's definitely working a lot better for the airlines, that's for sure. More people travelling than ever before, fewer airlines and seats, the explosion of "new wealth" in countries like China, India, the Middle East...it used to cost "only" $600-900 to fly from the US to Asia in 2007/2008, and now that price has roughly doubled in the last five years. dont give brooks any ideas. and to punch a hole in your airline theory, sites like priceline and travelocity kill the airline's profits, as all but southwest allowed these middle men to sell their tickets for them.
  21. I can see why the sox would want to use dynamic pricing, but it is not working. Let's look at this simple math. For a weekday, "regular" game, Let's say there's a row of 10 tickets in a section in Lower Box. The SEASON TICKET price per ticket is $40. So if the sox sold all 10 tickets in the row at $40 their income is $400. Now let's say the box office price in February(when tix went on sale) is $50 per ticket. If all 10 tickets sell at the box office(when dynamic prices are inactive), then the sox made $500, a profit of $100 over what the season ticket cost was. And that means to simply break even off the season ticket revenue, the sox would only need to sell 8 tickets. Now, with dynamic pricing, even if NONE of the tickets sold yet, the price is $60. The sox would make $600 off the 10 tickets that MAY sell. Because as we know, they are not selling. at all. The break even point for the sox is literally 6.66 tickets (at $60) to make the $400. And IF they sold all 10 tickets, you look at $600 in revenue. But let's be honest, those 10 tickets will be available at the box office day of game. In fact, if you go to the "special events" page at http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/ticket...cial_events.jsp, you 'll probably find a discount offer for those same 10 seats at $25 each. The sox have a better chance of the tickets selling for $35 LESS than the dynamic price that they did even at the season ticket level. But we're the jerks for not buying tickets, right kenny?
  22. the current system is clearly not working. it's so out of whack that people are forgetting that the sox LOWERED prices across the board in the offseason. dynamic pricing of upper reserve tix has made that $14 ticket in February $16-$18 in june. when there are THOUSANDS of unsold tickets and a clear lack of demand. The non-dynamic price of a upper reserve ticket was $17 in 2011. it's a goddamn shame that the box office has a paper print out of each day's ticket prices. and speaking as the guy pushing the 1/2 off codes, there's way too many hoops to get through to find deals.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) ^ Agree. They need to release $7 LD Corner seats just to fill those sections out. They could also have employees roam the UD concourse and ask people "Would you mind giving us 2 minutes of your time to answer a few questions for passes to the Lower Deck"? That could fill out the bleachers. A packed lower deck sure looks better on tv.you WONT see lower deck tickets for $7 when upper box are $24. best you can hope for is $25 for lower corners.
