  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) I guess they "stole" this idea from the Cubs, because they used to be among the MOST affordable. But I remember them raising the bleacher seats to much more exorbidant levels 10 or even 15 years ago. Probably with all the improvements out there, the backdrop, patio deck....what is the price now? It seems to be it was in the 20's or low 30's around 10-12 years ago already. My Season ticket package in the bleachers was $18 a game in 2003, the last year of non-tier pricing. The box office price was $22.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:28 AM) so they can't go into the merchandise stores down there? that sucks. Aside from the fact that there are several merch stores and booths up there, fans upstairs have full access to the chicago sports depot. A store that has more items in it than ANY of the lower level stores.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) Same with baseball. Get 'em in the park and let the fans walk downstairs and they'll prolly buy tons of merchandise and food and beer and also pay the parking. The lower deck being reopened to upper patrons will NEVER happen.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) The difference being a decent amount of people could have gone for full price.those people came BECAUSE of the deal. they were not coming when the tickets were $16.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) Stubhub has Sox - Brewers tix starting at $25 for nosebleeds. Ridiculous. I'll wait until a couple days before the games and see if the prices drop. that same seat at teh box office is $29. the deal is on stubhub. unless you have a code.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) That doesn't mean they made more money during that series...butt in seat is worth more than butt not in seat.
  7. Averaged 24,840 this series. 2,630 more per game than the weekend series against Seattle. $5 tickets bring fans out to the park? #whoknew
  8. 1/2 price ticksts at http://www.whitesox.com/satc . code is SATC
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Did they sell them all? It was pretty crowded up there yesterday.they made the entire upper reserved sections $10. but there is not much left of the original "$5" seats. but remember, you can still get 1/2 off lower level tix with the code TOURISM at http://www.whitesox.com/tourism
  10. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) So is this deal still going on? I can't find anything anywhere online mentioning $5 tickets. http://www.whitesox.com/tourism for 1/2 price tickets upstairs AND downstairs
  11. QUOTE (Tuna @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) There are other options...if you are referring to "other options" as in parking or transportation, yes. I know know that. I didnt say I BOUGHT the parking. the same "other options" to get to wrigley exist for sox park. in fact, the other options for sox park are better. two cta lines within 3 blocks of gate 5, one metra line within 2 blocks of gate 5 come to mind. only the red line is that close to wrigley. the metra is at ravenswood, and the brown line is at southport.
  12. QUOTE (soxmaniac! @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) I think these would both be interesting people to go out for beers with. Personally, I would choose Robin because I wouldn't be able to understand Ozzie in a bar. Ozzie can be a bit obnoxious too. neither.
  13. QUOTE (Tuna @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Jesus...how would you know such a thing?!?!?! they happened to play an al central team a few weeks ago.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) That is private parking........................Cubs have nothing close to $42.00 parking that is Cub owned Mr. Fact. when you go to buy tickets on cubs.com, they offer parking as you checkout. there is a $42 parking option.
  15. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) It's baffling to me that Bulls parking is cheaper than Sox parking (maybe the other lots around the UC keep the Bulls more honest).bulls have $27 parking.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) People are still not happy about paying the highest parking in MLB at $25.00..............this has kept people away also.the cubs have $42 parking. but let's not let facts get in the way of a good rant... and let's not forget that the $25 parking is for weekdays only. the $23 cost still applies to weekends.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) I think Tuna's story is VERY commonplace. People for some reason don't want to talk about ticket prices and parking, but it HAS TO BE a major factor. It's not worth blowing 300 dollars in Tuna's case to see one baseball game. I'm assuming the 25 dollar ticket he's talking about also would have been a lousy seat for the wife and kids. If you are gonna go to a game you want a decent seat unless you are a wacky diehard. If the Sox want to have high ticket/parking prices, fine, but in this economy it will show up on the attendance board. The Sox should try to sell more tickets to corporations. At least the seats would be sold to the few rich people left in society. they sell a lot to corporations. like this link: www.whitesox.com/aon aon is a pretty big company
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) Actually, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to let fans bring drinks/food in (maybe for Mon-Thursday games)...but once you started, it would be a pain in the ass to stop or reverse. Or maybe they could let fans who sit in the upper deck do this...to make them feel poorer or cheaper, like steerage class on the Titanic or the current trend in "economy/budget terminals" like they have in Singapore. you can bring in food NOW. you just cant bring in soda or beer. food and SEALED water bottles are ok.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 23, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85456oh...that. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:14 AM) Exactly. I'm sure young Ricketts isn't happy to see that, not that he has any say with Pops.Tommy Boy does NOT own the Cubs. JOE Ricketts(the old man trying to "take down" obama) does.....
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 23, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Rahm was reportedly pretty livid with the Ricketts family last week.over what?
  22. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 22, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) LOL I hear what you're saying about select games. I never understood why on Opening Day you have all these Navy guys unfurling the flag but then you stick them in the furthest-away upper deck. Why? Because capitalism trumps patriotism every time. But it's still a nice gesture because CPD handled this weekend brilliantly. Rahm must be totally proud. You do realize that active duty military get FREE best available(as in lower deck) for all games but od/cubs/premium. I dont get worked up over the one game where they have to sit upstairs after BEING ON THE FIELD.
  23. 1/2 off tix with code TOURISM www.whitesox.com/tourism
  24. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) I'd be surprised if Chairman Reinsdorf doesn't operate the Sox and Bulls as a single entity financially. The Bulls are a cash cow in a league that has a salary cap (40% of basketball related income is it? Sweet deal for the owners.) Some of those massive Bulls revenues make it over to 35th street and owning the network is probably one way how.he dosent. the bulls and sox are separate companies, despite sharing a lot of similar investors.
  25. QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Ha, I thought the same thing about grandstand when I first walked in. They're going to get crushed. The store is beautiful and has TONS of cool stuff, but as others mentioned, it's just too pricey. You can find the same stuff for cheaper online. I use both grandstand and the sox stores as market research. then i buy online.
