  1. I was going to contribute both an audible sigh and a facepalm at this thread, but i can see it's already been covered. Clearly the best part of an early losing streak is that we can play "Fun with Sample Sizes" anytime we want.
  2. QUOTE (since56 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) Putz and Jenks don't look so bad now. We went hard after Putz. He chased the money and a place that was closer to home. We were never going to get him. i don't think this is a legitimate point to harp on. And Jenks.... Jenks just sucks.
  3. I'm almost happy that i haven't been able to watch any of these games. It really seems like i'm not missing much.
  4. I hate Kurt Suzuki with the burning passion of a thousand suns. He's a damn Sox Killer.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) Bartolo was damn good today though. I was suprised that he's still showing consistent velocity. He was hitting 93 with decent movement.
  6. God, i'm happy that he got off our damn team when he did. To hell with that lazy S.O.B.
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Manny Ramirez is retiring after being notified he tested positive for a banned substance during spring training Well, he just ruined whatever chance he had of getting any postive distinctions post-career. This is pretty unsuprising and i'm incredibly happy that his tenure as a Sox was as short-lived as it was.
  8. There's nothing you can do about E-Jax when's he throwing his fastball for strikes and his slider is cutting through the zone. Best stuff on the staff.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) When did Beckham switch back to "Your Love?" It's just so awesome. He changed back? He was coming up to that, "Cold beer on a friday night" country song in spring and it led me into a brief depression.
  10. Why had no one informed me how awesome the new MLB.com gameday feature is? I just jumped from ESPN to MLB and it was like a 60 year leap into the future.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Tribe beat Boston again 1-0 Red Sox nation must be in full panic mode. Manny Acta played Francona like a fiddle to win that game. The media out here in New England is starting to turn its attention towards Francona (which is stupid, but not at all shocking).
  12. Two nasty sliders on display tonight. Let's hit them hard, because they can't hit back.
  13. I haven't had a change to watch any of the games this year, but from what i've read he hasn't exactly looked sharp in the field. Anyone have any specifics to share?
  14. This is a pretty damn good start. Let's keep it up and maybe we can play ourselves into some national games, so i can watch them.
  15. In the words of the immortal Bart Scott: CAN'T WAIT.
  16. IF he hadn't been so stubborn he probably could have squeezed another year or two out of it. I'll always be in his debt for 2005 and i'll never have any qualms with anything he did for this organization outside of b****ing about Alex Rios.
  17. My TV is widescreen on crack and is cutting off the right side of the screen. Can anyone tell me what velocity Humber is hitting on his heat?
  18. It's good to see the White Sox on national TV even if it is spring training.
  19. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) Anybody have any opinions on the last bullpen spot based on how the spring has been unfolding thusfar? Too early? Probably. But is it ever really too early to speculate? Humber looked really damn good this week. All of the other kids like Carter, Jones and Infante looked shaky at best. Coop seems to really like Humber and he shows great composure on the mound.
  20. I forgot to mention this in my earlier post. We had awesome seats for the Rangers game at Suprise. We were three rows behind the field and the entire coaching staff were sitting in folding chairs in front of us. We had scouts sitting next to us and a row down was Ibis and Oney Guillen (No, i didn't hit him) By far the best part of the weekend was watching the Cubs-Sox game at Camelback and seeing Frank Thomas walking up the row towards concessions. Also, Mark Teahen beat the living hell out of two balls in Suprise. His homer was hit so damn hard that the Rangers LF went through the bullpen fence in an effort to track it down. I was unimpressed with Morel, but Teahen came to play. Final autograph total: AJ Ozzie Jared Mitchell Josh Phegley Jake Peavy Matt Thornton Brian Bruney Tyler Flowers Can't wait for this year to start.
  21. Lastings impressed the hell out of me this week. Count me amongst those who would like to see him make the team.
  22. Last day in Arizona today, but the Cub’s are in town so it’s not a bad way to go out. I’ve been to every Sox game and have a couple of observations: Dayan Viciedo not only came to play but the transition to the outfield is going to work. He has a pretty embarrassing pratfall a couple of games ago, but he has a cannon and surprisingly good instinct when the ball comes off the bat. Also, you guys probably know more about this in me, but Dayan got hit in the thumb at the Rangers game. He and Ozzie were laughing about it five minutes later so I’m not overly concerned. Ozzie is incredibly fun to watch watch baseball. Some gems: after Yhency Brazoban of the Rangers balked a balk that was not called. Ozzie shouts to the umpire, “That would have been a balk in the Dominican.” He then shouts to Cox whose in the dugout (Ozzie is sitting in a folding chair between the dugout and home plate) “He’s going to throw a ball in the dirt, just watch!” Sure enough, “See, I know this game! I’m too good for you Coxy!” later he tosses a ball to a young girl who thanks him, “That will be five bucks,” he responds. Classic. Otherwise, Brian Bruney remains the coolest guy on the planet. Jared Mitchell certainly has his legs under him and continues to have the best approach at the plate on the team. Tyler Flowers looks like he’s almost ready. There’s still a lot to like about Lastings Milledge. He has tremendous defensive instincts and he’s not Brent Lillibridge. He also got lost trying to get back to the clubhouse at the Rangers park.
  23. Hey All, I don’t have much time, but I figured I’d pop in just to tell you what a great time I’m having out here in Arizona. Not a whole lot to share in terms of incite about the team as we’ve played some pretty inconsistent baseball. The good news is that other then Buehrle the majority of trouble has come from our young arms. I’ve had the chance to talk to a few of the guys, (nothing deep) told Josh Phegley that I was glad to see him in good health, told Mitchell pretty much the same thing, wished Brandon Hynick a happy birthday, and have had a couple hilarious exchanges with Brian Bruney who might be the coolest guy on the planet. I’ve managed to get autographs from Peavy, Phegley, Bruney, Mitchell and a couple of other guys who I’m blanking on at the moment and look forward to more in the next couple of days. I’ll end this brief little post on a somber note. The Cleaved Indians organization is a wasteland of sadness from top to bottom with a brief stop at Carlos Santana. That is all.
  24. I'm leaving for Glendale in a few hours. I'm getting pretty excited to see this years Sox in person. I have a good feeling about this year, it might be irrational fanboyism, but whatever.
