  1. Six outs away from our first win! We should be able to close this out assuming Pedro doesn’t do something stupid.
  2. Because Pedro doesn’t want to go 0-5 and we are two innings away from possibly lucking into a win. This is exactly what we should all be worried about.
  3. I hate even typing this, but there is no way Grifol doesn’t get Crochet injured at some point. Like he isn’t even attempting to manage his pitch count or innings at this point.
  4. Runner on this with one out and our cleanup hitter up What could go wrong??
  5. Hopefully you don’t think of this guy when you watch Vaughn batting like I do
  6. I was telling someone at Easter yesterday that there is no doubt in my mind that we should have traded Vaughn over Burger. Jake is a way better hitter given the power differential, a significantly better base runner, and likely a better defensive 1B if given a full time shot. I have literally lost all faith in Andrew ever being an above average 1B.
  7. It’s truly wild that Sheets is batting cleanup despite putting DFA worthy offensive numbers in his major league career
  8. I hope Hahn is sitting in a dive bar in Winnetka crying right now as he watches what he could have been.
  9. I seriously doubt Jerry Reinsdorf is providing any input on this
  10. At some point the minor league arms will be ready for their shot. Cannon, Thorpe, & Eder in particular should be pushing for roles in the second half. I’d imagine Crochet gets shut down by August and Soroka is dealt at the deadline. I agree that Flexen gets cut or moved to a swing role eventually and signing Clevinger hopefully helps accelerate that.
  11. I think they realize Flexen is absolute garbage and will eventually need to be replaced. A rotation of Crochet, Soroka, Fedde, Clevinger, & Nastrini could be decent for what is otherwise a very bad team. Flexen becomes the swing man and jumps back in when there is eventually an injury or when a spot opens up. I just hope that they use this as an excuse to claw back an extra year of control with Nastrini, but my guess is Getz will bungle this opportunity unfortunately.
  12. I think there is a very slim chance he is here all season. Pedro is the laughing stock of baseball and I truly believe the only reason he’s being kept around (other than to help Jerry’s wallet) is to be the sacrificial lamb for a shitty team in transition as we wait for our main prospects to reach the majors. At some point the losses will be too immense not to do something in season or Getz will bring heat upon himself. My guess is that will be sometime between Memorial Day and the All Star break.
  13. I’ll ask again…does this bump Nastrini from the rotation?
  14. No idea, but they certainly should have eaten Clevinger’s buyout at last year’s deadline and gotten something for him given they paid those dollars for nothing anyways. I think it’s very apparent, even moreso now, that no one wants this dude in their clubhouse. We’re talking about Vince Velasquez money for a pitcher that isn’t actually bad. I’m not going to lose sleep over this, but don’t see any real upside here other than we’ll be a little less terrible when he makes starts than when Chris Flexen does.
  15. Does he bump Nastrini out of the rotation? I can’t imagine they cut bait on Flexin this soon. I guess I should wait and see the dollar amount, but no one wanted this dude at the deadline last year despite pitching well and no one wants him now despite likely costing very little. If it’s dirt cheap it’s a whatever move I guess, but this ain’t a dude we’ll be able to flip for anything of value.
