Have you been reading this thread? I am one of the people defending him, but I also can be objective and acknowledge he’s been bad so far this season.

It’s his 19th start in a pandemic fueled season and despite posting 98th percentile velocity and 93% percentile velocity spin you are completely writing him off. Like I don’t know many times you have to do this before you realize jumping to conclusions on still developing young players is fucking stupid.

To be fair, Cease has been pretty bad this year despite a good ERA coming into tonight.

I think I’m getting to the point where I might have to put you on ignore because these hot takes are just embarrassingly bad and I’m starting to feel bad being a dick to you all the time.

This is Cease’s 19th career start, why is he already abandoning a potentially plus offspead pitch? Him, Lopez, & Giolito were all known for plus curveballs in the minors and when they finally get to the show with us the pitch just disappears. To me it reeks of some sort of Don Cooper meddling.

Why does it seem like Cease barely uses his curveball anymore? I thought that was his elite breaking ball in the minors.

I was hoping it would carry out. Pretty sad we had a HR, two singles, and a BB and only managed to squeeze out one there.

Lol at Ricky for saying the reason McCann isn’t DHing more is to keep him fresh. If the backup batter can’t swing the bat five times every couple of days and be ready for his two starts a week behind the plate then we need a different backup.
