  1. If Sale or Quintana go, I agree it won't be until the offseason. Sox can get more teams involved on the bidding and with the weak SP FA market, a major bidding war can erupt for both these guys.
  2. I know it's sacrilege to suggest trading Sale but the Sox should at least listen to teams this offseason and see if some team can blow them away with an offer. I think Sale would bring back more than Q and the Sox have Q under contract for one more year than Sale. There's an argument to be made that if the Sox can get a haul for Sale, they can be contending again by no later than the 2018 season. On a personal note, fireball pitchers always scare me too. Sooner or later they seem to get injured and personally Q seems like a safer bet to avoid that type of injury. If the Sox can get a combo of 5-6 mlb ready players and or high level prospects for Sale, it may solve a lot of their problems.
  3. There's a lot of teams that will overpay for bullpen help right now, please trade Robertson while he still has value. The Sox have two guys in Jones and Fulmer that can jump right into the closer's role.
  4. I'd sell. Robertson would be a great trade chip and can bring back a good package. I'd also entertain offers for Frazier as well, not sure what would be offered but there's probably a team out there that thinks he'll turn it on for them if they get him. Realistically I doubt the Sox do much, if anything they'll make a minor trade.
  5. All BS aside, if this team isn't going to hit consistently then they have no real chance of contending. Can't just hit when they play a garbage pitching staff (Detroit) and then shut it down again when they face real pitchers.
  6. This might be a nice deal for Oakland if Alcantara can figure it out. If I remember correctly he played very well for the Cubs when he was called up a few years ago and was in the Young Stars game as well. However he either got bad or the NL figured him out and he was sent down to AAA early last year. Just looking at his numbers now they look a little bit better this year. A's probably get the better of this trade as Coghlan has not been good this year and is a UFA at season's end. Cubs must figure he might be able to turn it around with them as a depth guy. A's get a guy who has had some success at the big league level but was probably never in the Cubs long term plans after last year.
  7. Shields was absolutely brutal tonight. San Diego has been trying to trade him since last year's trade deadline and the fact that the Padres were willing to eat so much money to ship him out is quite concerning. He needs to figure it out and figure it out quickly.
  8. After 58 games in 2015, Sox were 28-30. After 58 games in 2016, Sox are 29-29. 1 game better than last year after a 23-10 start. Unreal.
  9. Would rather see the Sox make a big deal for an impact bat. In the big picture, the Sox are still a very mediocre hitting team.
  10. Latos hasn't looked good in a month.
  11. I don't know if firing Robin is the right move right now but this team needs to turn it around fast. Their June schedule is absolutely brutal. If they continue playing the way they are they'll be in 4th place come July 1st.
  12. There's honestly no reason why the Sox shouldn't win the ALC this year. This division is garbage aside from the Sox.
  13. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 14, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) I hope Billy Beane is pleased with himself about that Russell trade. If they do end up winning, he's probably more deserving of a ring than 2 or 3 members of the actual roster. What's a worse trade, Russell for Samardzija or Rizzo for Cashner? Both very one sided now.
  14. I'm fine with Benetti. He's not perfect but he'll get better and it beats the hell out of listening to two guys with no chemistry and who can't stand each other.
  15. The Cubs are really damn good and that's ok (and expected) because the Sox are pretty good too this year. We're not in the same league as them so that's all that matters to me. I haven't seen an AL Team as good as the White Sox so far.
  16. Great start by the Sox, if ever a team needed to come out of the gate strong it was this team.
  17. I don't blame KW for making the decision and I do think some of the players are acting like babies about this. That being said if KW lied to the team as Sale and LaRoche said, well then KW has no one but himself to blame for looking bad.
  18. It really depends how many games out the Sox would be in the ALC or ALWC. If they are in it, they'll definitely add. If they're not, I wouldn't anticipate a big trade either. I think the Sox are really banking on this 2 yr window.
  19. I think Turner might become a good relief pitcher but SP......probably not.
  20. Losing the draft pick really doesn't upset me because it's not a top ten pick. If I have one reservation about signing Fowler it's that he had a lousy first half last year before he turned it on and if there's one thing the Sox don't need more of, it's guys who start off slow. Aside from that he's a quality MLB player and if they can get him on a 1-2 year deal then I'd be fine with it. Going back to the Cubs doesn't make sense unless they trade Soler. Doesn't mean it can't or won't happen but it hasn't yet.
