Oh, I agree with you. In fact, it probably was taught to me. I knew I should be saving/investing money. Even when I got a "real" job they always talked about putting money into my retirement plan every year. I just didn't have any.

I had 2 kids and a house by the time I was 21. I didn't have any extra money at that point in my life.

It's something people that graduated in the 90's had to learn to use.

This feels like one of those Facebook posts where everyone complains about all the stuff they did learn/teach in HS but they either didn't pay attention or just forgot. Things like balancing a checkbook, doing taxes, filling out job applications, buying a house, applying for a loan, maintaining a car, etc... I learned, or at least was taught, *all* this stuff in HS. Some stuff I learned outside of an actual classroom but I was still HS age. Some stuff I knew the basics of but didn't really "get it" until I had to go through it a few times.

Started watching Archive 81 on Netflix the other day and I'm really enjoying it. I'm infatuated with the main female character.

Change doesn't happen that fast. Except for the price, college is pretty much the same now as it was 18 years ago. Or 32 years ago. Or probably 100 years ago... Remember when we all watched the Jetsons or Back to the Future and thought we'd have robot maids or flying cars by now? LOL

Only vaguely on this subject, my wife's mom passed away in November. They haven't started going through the house yet but she has a lot of "stuff". Mostly a lot of boxes stacked up. One thing she does have is a complete collection of Danielle Steele novels. All hardcovers at that. Probably paid $20+ for some of them new. Looking up prices on Ebay, they'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 dollars a piece for them. Books are weird like that.

My wife and I watched that when it was actually on TV. It started out good but did have it's ups and downs. Sometimes it was a struggle to get through and I think they started running out of ideas. The finale was pretty good though.

I've actually fallen behind on my book reading. I've got at least 3 or 4 new books sitting on my shelves that I haven't even started on yet. Just got "Will" (Will Smith's autobiography) for Christmas. Have had Stephen King's "Billy Summers" on my shelves for a couple of months now. I also picked up "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" this past summer.

The ones where you sign up for free or reduced price X number of days or weeks or whatever and if you forget to call to cancel that it automatically renews at the "regular" price. Although calling up and simply threatening to cancel when you just want to get lower price for another 6 months is a common tactic to combat this.

Theft of catalytic converters has been happening for many, many years. RVs are particularly vulnerable since they typically have a lot of ground clearance and sit in unsecured storage lots for months at a time.

I don't have any more free time now than I ever did before, I've never been one to sit down and watch an entire game start to finish. I'd check in for a few minutes to see the scores but that was about it. I have the field of dreams game recorded on my DVR and have yet to watch it all.

Luckily social media didn't exist back then to spread the stupidity.

This country decided a long time ago that public heath > personal choice. It's why we can't smoke in buildings anymore. It's why there are certain codes and restrictions restaurants have to follow for food handling. It's why babies have to have X number of shots before they even leave the hospital when they are born. Then X number in the many years afterwards including the numerous vaccines required for attending school. This is not new.

We gutted our entire kitchen for around $12K about 5 year ago.
