Yeah, but have you ever been to Dodger Stadium? There is literally nothing except parking lots around Chavez Ravine, and the downtown LA  area that is close to Dodger Stadium is pretty sketchy. Yet they lead both leagues in attendance year after year. Or Yankee Stadium -- the South Bronx is better now than it was 30 years (like a South Side stadium we all know and love), but would you want to hang out there after a game? Nope. Yet they are the top AL draw year after year. Citi Field in Queens, same thing. Yet the second team in NYC still consistently draws over 2.5 million.

You can have a good team and crappy stadium or a crappy team and a good stadium and still draw well either way.

But you can't have both be crappy and expect to have good attendance.

Some of it is the availability. It was tougher to explore different music when you had to go to the store and buy it, or catch it on the radio.

That's true. I remember spending literal years searching for a single song that I heard on a movie once. I had a hard time even figuring out who the artist was until I got the VHS. Turns out there was no soundtrack ever produced or released for the movie.

Now I can just go to Youtube and listen to it whenever I want.

  3. You must have some kids raised by Gen X'rs.

My daughter is often surprised when she knows about some older song that I introduced her to when she was younger and her friends/co-workers have never heard of it.

These contracts make no sense. Economy: Bad. Ticket prices: Already are too expensive for ordinary fans only going up. Baseball should be played in a studio cause only TV money is keeping it afloat. Good luck if these TV deals fall through some day cause of bankruptcy.

Attendance actually went up league-wide in 2023 vs 2022.

It’s going to end poorly for hahn. No way he survives this season - not even JR will tolerate this.

He's never held him accountable for this dumpster fire of a franchise in the past decade+ that he's been here. Why would he start now?

  6. That was probably the one good thing about Ozzie. When the team sucked, he would be the first to tell you they sucked. No mincing words and no trying to say what he thought people wanted to hear.

And no, this is absolutely *not* a plea for him to return as manager.

99.9999%. Its been stated numerous times over the last decade that Hahn only recently got more say so but even now has to have unanimous approval from KW and JR.  Meaning he has virtually no GM powers that the other 29 GMs have

I was gonna say, deep down we all know every player on this list is a KW guy.

At this point all I wish is that Reinsdorf would realize his way doesn't work. Unfortunately, I assume Hahn's complete failure to rebuild is an "I told you so moment" for Reinsdorf.

    It won't be.

  9. This is an organization that wouldn't even fire Robin Ventura. He basically had to quit.

KW and RH have jobs for life as long as JR is around.

Seriously how did Monday come and go, after and epic losing streak when they were supposed to contend, with some of the worst baseball ever seen for this franchise known for baseball stupidity and not one person has lost a job.

I thought somebody would have been canned on Monday.

Did you just recently become a fan of this franchise?

Personally i feel like this team is going to ruin it with a win… like they can’t even suck in a notable way.

My HS football team did that. We had a losing streak that lasted like 6 years. When they finally won a single game during my senior year (literally the only game they won all year) they had TIED for the longest losing streak.

    It's since been broken though...

When you do not accomplish the goal at hand, and you’ve been given the opportunities we’ve been fortunate to be given to try to rebuild this thing, to tear it down and rebuild it

I guess "fortunate" is one way to describe it.

Literally no professional GM/president in the history of ever have been given as many chances and failed attempts as Rick and Kenny have.

I agree. My original response was to highlight the anomaly of the Rays having a small payroll.

That's true. They are kind of the exception to the rule.

Although the Twins and Royals seem to get by with smaller payrolls more often than not as well.
