  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Bulls***, its his first season in that role and his second as a pitcher. He's got the stuff and the balls to be a very good closer. That will remain to be seen.
  2. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) no he didnt, you arent even looking at this objectively, you just want to criticize ozzie. when you give up 2 homers in the 9th and then hit into a dp with the winning run on third, its the players fault plain and simple That's the 2011 theme of Sox Talk and WSI. That's probably my #1 reason I want Ozzie gone.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) Closer-in-training He's still learning and he implodes quite a bit. I rather have Sale than Sergio in there on sheer pitching experience. Until Sergio gets iron hardened, he's still learning in my eyes. I'm still waiting on Floyd and Danks to get iron hardened.
  4. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Having Ramirez bunt was about the umpteenth time that ozzie played right into the hands of the opposing manger that right folks is why he should be shown the door. He was absolutely owned that inning the manger's job is to put players in a position to succeed. He failed miserably once again in both the top and bottom of that inning. The decision isn't that bad but Ozzie forgets the Sox don't have a legit DH providing they don't pitch to PK.
  5. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Rayburn? Seriously? The guy only destroys the SOX. Avilia I'll give you though. There are over 24 other guys. They aren't the paper tiger here.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Darn! We need this win to keep our hopes alive. We could petition Bud to extend the season another 2 months. Then the SOx could win over 100 games and lose a 100 games.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) That is what we call our textbook "being out managed." I call it "having better players".
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Props to Leyland for not conceding anything. Winning and losing can be habits. Starting August they didn't have a winning record in the division. I'd rather see these guys in the post season than the Twin. They are not going to be a pushover unless they get cold.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) Hopefully we are back to Sergio having a dead arm and not something more serious. or learning there is more to pitching than throwing a baseball
  10. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) The Tigers... The SOX's new Twins? Just about every team in this division is the new Twins except the Twins.
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Is it possible Detroit might let them win one? Dumb base running by De Aza. Some of the new guys will be interesting to see how well they do when they aren't hitting. Yep, they were just playin'. I guess they decided to get out another can of wup ass.
  12. Maybe Kenny will get Rayburn because he kills the Sox.
  13. Is it possible Detroit might let them win one? Dumb base running by De Aza. Some of the new guys will be interesting to see how well they do when they aren't hitting.
  14. The bigger the game, the smaller the Sox http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosen...,4288199.column The same thing happened in 2003 under Manuel. The team is in need of a new manager with the hopes of getting past under achievement. Maybe their is more to evaluating talent more than just numbers.
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) He gets me to watch for the first time in a while. Only reason for me to care at this point is Viciedo/Reed/Axelrod watch. A guy who had no glove when he played for us of course. he didn't have much when he played for the Royals
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) How are you defining "Mean"? I ask that too. It's the perfect example of how poor journalism is these days.
  17. Inge volunteered to work on his hitting in the minors. It would have been nice if one of those 2 offered to do the same thing. BTW does the players union allow for this?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) I don't know about that assumption. Better talent? You mean like when they shipped Rowand/Young out because they thought Brian Anderson was ready? I would believe that over a falling out.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) It's a crapshoot to figure out who to trade, Floyd or Danks, and which one has the most value at this point. I guess Cooper would have a lot better feel than anyone. By the way, was there ever any "falling out" between Hudson and Cooper or "miscommunication/lack of communication"? You just wonder about how someone with such a great eye for talent would give up on the guy after just 3 starts? Did he have a bad reputation in the minor league system for not working well with the coaches? Gio Gonzalez, that one was on KW...but the Hudson deal is mystifying. How much of it was Cooper thinking he could max out Jackson's potential versus uncertainty out of what they could get out of Hudson in Chicago in the heat of a pennant race against an offense like Minnesota's in 2010. I'm going to assume the organization felt there was better talent and he was expendable.
  20. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbullet...ad.php?t=130309 Some see it differently. There was a thread I was watching for quite some time called Viciedo Ready. Sometimes I wonder if the Dunn signing was premature or there's still some doubt about Viciedo.
  21. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) Yes, probably replacing management to some extent, but also identifying what can be done about addressing/fixing Dunn and Rios' issues. I think both will be better. This is really the first time Rios has ever taken a lot of major criticism. I think he may benefit even more from a new hitting coach.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) The pitching has really fallen off the last month or so. Floyd and Danks now with very average 4.35/4.36 ERAs. Doesn't the staff in general usually regress starting in August?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Unfortunately, none of it came in meaningful games, but better than nothing. Just like the team veterans.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Ozzie's learning on the job right now. If he goes to the Marlins next year, he will be on the other side of these scores. I don't know what people are thinking wanting him to leave. I guess they like 100 loss seasons. I guess there is a better chance to over achieve there. Here under achieving is more common. There really is no reason to retain any of these coaches. Cooper seems to only have short term success.
