  1. I have come to the conclusion that the trades made this offseason were related to the LaRoche fiasco. Anyone hear the caller on 670 this morning at about 8:50? A guy called in saying he had a source that JR told management to only trade one of Sale or Q
  2. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) On pure upside the Rockies proposal would be very strong David Dahl is a very good OF prospect 2015 Scouting grades for Dahl Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 60 | Overall: 55 Rodgers is a top 10 prospect I doubt the Rockies would offer up both Dahl and Rodgers. If they do Sox should accept. Agreed.
  3. I'm no scout, and I have seen almost nothing on the guy other than 1 video... but by stats alone... if the Rockies are giving up Brendan Rodgers + one other, you take it. The other day I stated that I wanted Meadows + 2. But I'm willing to budge on this if everyone in the organization/league figures that Meadows (or Rodgers) are sure players. Meadows + 1 (Bell?) or Rodgers + 1 (no idea)
  4. Great and all Meadows on the cover.... but the best major leaguer in the deal is Q. He is easily a top 30 starter in baseball. What do the stats show again? This deal should be Meadows and two others in the 50-150 prospect range, unless Sox throw in another asset for Pitt. I get liking a prospect, but you don't get a TOR pitcher for nothing but hopes and dreams.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) That would be much better than the Sale return. There's no chance of this. Meadows and Glasnow are both top 10 prospects in baseball and Newman is a top 50 guy. If Meadows is involved, I'm guessing something like Meadows, Hayes, Diaz, flyer Good thoughts. I'd probably take that deal, but only because I think the Sox should be all in on Austin Meadows (or someone of his equivalent). Maybe pickup Yeudy Garcia (we can't have enough Garcia's)
  6. My ideal scenario remains a trade with PITT that gets Austin Meadows. He is a perfect piece for both need and value from dealing Q. I don't know how to build a fair package around him though... and I would bet the GM doesn't want to give him up. But if I'm the GM of the Sox, I'm not budging from that stance. It has to be Meadows or no deal. So... trying to be real..... If the PITT GM actually is willing to do it, what is fair? I think Meadows, Glasnow, and Newman. 1 for 3 swap. Thoughts?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 12:44 AM) If the Sox were able to get both Glasnow and Keller, they'd be so stacked with pitching that I'd hope they'd flip a couple to Colorado for Brendan Rodgers. If that were possible I'd be one happy chewbaca
  8. The Sox should NOT trade to Pitt for Glasnow and Newman as headliners. That feels very under value for Q
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Bac to the Astros. AJ Reed is surely blocked now. Sox scouts agree on him as the third piece, they still should be able to get a deal done. Four players in total. Tucker as the centerpiece, once again the scouts are making the call on him. What is the second piece?
  10. if Houston had any need for Frazier or Robertson, I'd include them with Q to get both Tucker and Bregman as the headliners.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) Pirates could also deal Quintana (and anyone else: McCutchen like you said, Nova, etc.) to replenish the farm in 2-3 years if they wanted. Exactly. They could in theory re-trade Q.
  12. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) I don't think a team like the Pirates can really afford to "gut their entire farm system" like a Boston or Washington could. I would guess they would try to restock it partially with a Cutch deal, but nobody seems willing to pay that price either. So we wait. I agree with this thinking. However, for PITT in particular, I believe McCutchen has 2 years left on his deal. So if they think they are good enough inserting Q and removing prospects to make the playoffs, then they should roll the dice this year because if it fails then they could just trade McCutchen next offseason.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 28m28 minutes ago Idle thought: Could @whitesox land switch-hitting prodigy Josh Bell & Tyler Glasnow from Pirates in deal for Quintana & Todd Frazier? Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 26m26 minutes ago @whitesox want Austin Meadows in Jose Quintana deal but Josh Bell also fits the need for young hitters w/big upside. I see a variety of issues with the first tweet. 1) Bell & Glasnow for Q and Todd Frazier is not good value for the Sox. 2) The Pirates would never want to take on all that salary. They'd require the Sox to eat the salary. This would make it even worse value of a trade for Sox. Now if it was Q and Todd Frazier and all of Frazier's 2017 salary, then the return from PITT would need to be Meadows, Bell, Glasnow, and Newman/Keller. I doubt the Pirates want to gut their top prospects for just Q and Frazier, even though this is closer to fair value for Sox.
  14. I will likely watch more Sox games this year than last if some of our younger guys are up and playing (the ones that are ready for the competition). It was PAINFUL to watch this team with our "stars" continue to be mired in mediocrity. I know this isn't related to the thread, but I was wondering on people's opinion of Ventura as a manager. Personally, I felt his style was a reason our roster was not winning at least 80 games a year.
