Sox Summer Camp Catch All Thread

He's not a FA, so he is still with the organization. We have no clue what this season holds, If someone goes down for the season or multiple guys get sick, he may still have a shot at being promoted to the pool of players as the season goes on.

Sox Summer Camp Catch All Thread

Pretty much. It's so incredibly odd and moronic how someone thought not listing a reason for a trip to the IL (when a reason is literally required for any other situation) somehow provides a player the proper privacy they are seeking while recovering. Hopefully they get well soon and don't have a rough case of it.

    Rule 5 changed

It is a really dumb rule, especially because so many of these guys get "injured" and sit on the D.L. most of the year.

    Sox release 5

I liked him too. Too many injuries too. I believe he struggled last season with his shoulder but I could be mistaken.

    Trade for Howard

I did as well. With hindsight and the TJ, good thing they didn't. But he's the exact type of guy I would expect Cease to be included for in a deal.

    Trade for Howard

No chance. If Cease is getting traded, it better be for legitimate major league talent to help right now.

What would you have rather seen from this draft?

J.J. Cooper and Ben Badler broke down all the 1st rounders on the BA podcast. When they got to Crochet, he was labeled as a guy that could end up being the arm everyone ends wondering how he lasted until the 11th pick? This was before the Kelley pick too, so they were strictly going off Day 1 results.

    Oscar Colas

Important thing to remember - all 30 teams are going through the same issue. So yes, it will affect the development for the Sox, but that same thing is happening to the other 29 farms as well.

    Kelley!

White Sox select LHP Garrett Crochet at #11, also, he signed

We really can't really claim this anymore. Kopech, Rodon, Dunning, Lambert, Burdi, Schryver, Burr, Jones are all guys that needed TJ within the last few years. Stiever and Hansen have had some arm issues as well. Crochet has nasty stuff but he is a very risky pick. The comparison to Sale is nice, but that's a generational HOF talent. Expectations should be lowered to give the kid a chance. If they can add Kelley, I'll like this pick a lot more.

You make choices....and you live with them

I'd go Bulls. I grew up during the 90's, and those teams honestly ruined the franchise for me long term. They were so dominant and fun to watch, I really struggle getting into a NBA game nowadays. Hard to enjoy once you've seen the best ever.

    2020 MLB Draft Thread

Well, last few years have not been kind to the Sox arms. And we've seen what happens when guys have their mechanics thrown out of whack (Fulmer). Honestly feels like a coin toss. I would lean towards Detmers right now based on sample size right now, but I wouldn't be unhappy if Crochet ends up being the pick.

    Spencer Adams

Obviously he was hurt last year, but his 108 total innings at Triple-A for his career is not a great showing. I never really understood the fascination with him. His K/9 completely evaporated and the past two seasons he has seen his walks spike. He's still pretty young, but I would be very shocked to see him have any future on the Sox.

    2020 MLB Draft Thread

I read that there could be more positional players off the board in the 1st because the pitching depth is so prominent this year. Sox might not view what's left at 11 as the highest upside.

    MLB THE SHOW: 20

I just posted a Dalquist in the vault. Been adding and updating quite a few guys over the past week. PSN is SouthSideSox05. I have quite a few additional guys not posted yet that hopefully will be up within the next week.

FS: Sousa and Lindgren possible 2020 bullpen options?

Lindgren would be one hell of a great story. I remember when that guy was in the Yankees system. If he can put some solid innings together in Charlotte, I wouldn't be shocked to see him up at some point this season.

    More Minor League Additions

I didn't know where else to put this, as there isn't a minor league catch-all yet. Feel free to move this to the other board if need be. Apparently, the Sox signed RHP Christian Friedrich and RHP Connor Sadzeck to minor league deals. Sadzeck is somewhat intriguing as a possible pen option. He was a top 30 prospect for the Rangers back in 2015-16, and throws high 90's. Has issues with walks though. Friedrich seems to be more rotation depth for Charlotte. They also brought in OF Trayvon Robinson and IF L.J. Mazzilli. Robinson has major league experience as well.

Reinsdorf makes money off Cubs network

I know someone that was laid off by Stadium late last year. I was told that the reason their staff was cut in half was because JR sold his controlling shares of the company. Sinclair supposedly is the majority owner of the company now. So Jerry has little to no involvement with Stadium at this point according to my friend's understanding.

Sox in Discussions for Moncada Extension per Y2Jimmy

Not sure if it was shin splints, thought it was his hammy, but he did say very recently he changed his conditioning regimen in the offseason to hopefully prevent issues this season. Guess we'll find out.

    Dodgers @ Sox 2PM CT ⁦NBCSChicago

He's a ST invitee. He's in the organization unless the Sox cut ties with him and choose not to assign him to an affiliate. He should have 2 options remaining in the event he is added to the 40-man, but those don't get used as a ST invitee.

EE is also a notoriously slow starter. His April slash line for his career is by far the worst on a month-by-month basis.

Sox @ Reds: Spring Training Opener (Cease)

Yep. He went to Driveline last offseason, said he felt great. Clearly didn't work last season. Although he did have a few good outings right before he hurt his hamstring last year. I don't really have any expectations for him anymore.
