  1. If Harper is that set on wanting to be a Cub then I don’t want him anyways. That just means he had his mind set from the start and wasted all these teams time meeting with them for it to play out the way he preferred in the end. And if any team knows this, and actually helps the cubs get him by taking their financial burdens away from them after they signed the “bad” contract they are trying to get rid of should be punished or shunned by fans of baseball. I personally hope Harper took this process to heart, with an open mind and the mind frame we heard about from some reports. That he wanted to go somewhere and be the “guy” and face of the franchise. I hope he takes this once in a lifetime chance to cash in what he dreamt about since he was 18 and gets paid and goes to the place he feels gives him the best chance to be the “guy”. I would respect him as a fan if he makes his decision with his head and not heart and goes to that team. if he goes to the Cubs he will never be the guy. The Cubs have been established for a few years now and adding him for the next few seasons wouldn’t make him be the guy and franchise player. They have Rizzo, Bryant, and Baez already established. Bryce would just be one of the “big four” or five or whatever. If he takes less money and years to play with his bestie then in my eyes he belongs on the Northside. As much as it would suck that we missed out on potentially both the prized FA in the last decade or so, and even more so if it was to the Cubs and the non stop BS we would have to endure from the so called baseball fans to our North. I’ll wait for the guy that has that chip in his shoulder like all Whitesox fans and most players Whitesox fans get behind and root for. I’ll wait for that guy that wants to come to Chicago and put the Southside on the map. I think we are well on our way already but need that player to put us over the edge and on the radar. I think and hope Bryce or Manny is that guy. But we shall see....
  2. I agree after reading some of his tweets the last month or so he has been pushing the Yankee narrative all December. Could it be true? Sure. But I would think Manny is taking the Holidays to think it over like many people have said (national guys). You would think if Mannys mind was made up to the point he was telling players he played with he has decided to go to the Yankees, someone other then Dan Clark would have picked up on it and confirmed this rumor. At this point with all the so called “insiders” that claim they have inside knowledge is useless until Manny or his agent make an announcement. We are still in it till he signs the dotted line. I hope this turns out this guy is a blowhard and eats his words. I’m really hoping the Sox get one of these two and make a whole lot of people both nationally and on this board eat crow. I’m cautiously optimistic, I think they went into this offseason with a plan to get Manny in particular and have faith they have executed it. Hahn said the money would be there for the last few years so I don’t think that is the issue. If a guys heart is set on playing for his team growing up all we can do is attempt to persuade him with surrounding him with people And players he enjoys being around, and of course throwing a boat load of money at him. By next week I think we will have a better idea how this turns out.
  3. Makes a ton of sense. I just can’t wait for all this to be over, one way or the other. Obviously I want it to end with one of them signing with us, I don’t care which. I’m just sick of always falling short in these persuits. We just need one player to break our way to hopefully open the dam for more this year or the years following. The disrespect and opinions National media folks have about this organization makes me sick. This organization is loyal to its alumni sometimes to a fault, almost every player that has played for our team raves about the family culture JR employs and hearing national guys disrespect us the way they have is BS. I would just love for once they are wrong and not only do we sign one of these guys but they kill it for us and become even more of stars bringing the Sox to relevancy again. After plenty of shortfalls I am not overly confident as we stand today, but this entire offseason has been full of highs and feeling like we got a legitimate chance and lows thinking “no way.” I just hope in the end JR broke with the status quo and tried to sell them using his checkbook for once. I guess we will see but I truly hope this ends sooner than later.
  4. Suposedly it was this evening, but this guy (Manny) is going to get on Instagram after having dinner with the Phils brass and the first thing he wants to do is follow Phillies players? If it is true it would be a great ploy by his agent to get the other teams nervous and milk more money out of them. But I doubt Manny is sitting there with Yanni following Phillies players. If I agreed to a huge contract over $250 mil minimum that would be the last thing I would think of doing.
  5. I don’t have Instagram or Twitter so not sure if this is true... https://mobile.twitter.com/UndergroundPHI/status/1075963724274511872 or if it means much if it is... I would imagine they got done with Dinner not to long ago in Philly so I find it weird the first thing Manny would do is sign on to Instagram and start following past and present Phillies players.
  6. This guys tweets were pretty straightforward until this tweet. Not sure who is sources are but he looks to be a studen manager for UCF so there’s a Florida connection. Sorry for even doing it but it’s become commonplace these days with all the drama and intense attention we all have committed to refreshing and checking Twitter. https://mobile.twitter.com/TedsTroop/status/1074833192484528129
  7. He did tweet on the 15th he got a new account for “personal reasons” https://mobile.twitter.com/SeanBradleyPHI/status/1073991433873428481
  8. Kanye ya sorry autocorrect. https://mobile.twitter.com/Lakeshow_323/status/1074378147661996032
  9. Not sure if this was posted or not. Prob bs but found it doing the daily twitter search for Harper rumors. https://mobile.twitter.com/unaballer100/status/1074153785008758785 Alot of others saying Bryce to LAD which has been discussed throughly. And some saying he was at STL airport yesterday. Plus someone posted that Kenye Twitted Bryce called he’s going to the Dodgers.
  10. Anyone know if Machado and Adam Jones are close. I know Our Chuck was more or less kidding when he mentioned trading for him during the winter meetings but you wondered if it was a plant. However if they were tight that would be another way to sway him if Hahn told his agent it could be done. Plus it fills a need in CF. It’s out there but so is most of this off-season. Its been drama filled especially in these different threads. I also find it interesting that if JR does own The Stadium it’s intresting that’s how the Alonso trade broke instead of being fed to a national or local guy. Plus the Harper jersey post. All of this is just odd and makes me kinda hopeful no matter how out there it may be.
  11. No he didn’t. He was asked what he thought would happen with Harper and Machado. Sherman said he thinks Philly gets Machado and both guys get their money. He said it’s going to take a little longer and more grinding by agents is needed. He then said he sees whoever gives the most money gets Harper since he has been waiting for this moment since he was in HS. He specifically mentioned the Sox as a possibility. THEN was asked about Harper to the Dodgers and he said he doesn’t see it happening. He said it would take over $300 million to sign him and he doesn’t see the Dodgers interested UNLESS on a short term deal. Does think Bryce is interested in playing in LA for the star reasons and it’s close to Vegas. You should really think about stopping your nonsense posts or at least try and actually report what they said. It’s seriously becoming unbearable your sources and inside info changes as much as the wind blows enough please.
  12. Did they interview him after was drafted? Any video or audio out there if they did?
  13. Would love Seth Beer with the 2nd round pick! Anyone know if Madrigal was interviewed after being drafted? If so anyone got a link to listen to it? At work and missed what’s MLBN had to say about the pick.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) Single=Throw one Twinkie on the field Double=2 (or packet filled with 2, lol) Triple=3 HR=4 SB=??? (Still working on it) That would be way cool marketing, the Chevy Pride Girls could pick them all up after they littered the field, of course, it wouldn't delay the game at all, haha... I actually really like this lol.
  15. Tito Polo, OF: The Pirates signed Polo out of Colombia in the spring of 2012. He emerged as an interesting talent by hitting .291/.374/.475 in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in 2014, but slumped to just .236/.313/.328 in the Low-A South Atlantic League in 2015, though he did steal 46 bases. He returned to West Virginia to open 2016 and hit a strong .302/.368/.551 in 225 at-bats, leading to his promotion to the High-A Florida State League, where he slashed .276/.351/.346 in 214 at-bats for Bradenton. Polo is 5-9, 185, a right-handed hitter and thrower born August 23rd, 1994. His best physical tool is speed and he's aggressive about using it on the bases, but unfortunately his weak arm and mediocre defensive instincts will likely limit him to left field at the highest levels. He's well-built physically and has some pop in his bat, but his strike zone judgment is erratic and his power evaporates every time he's promoted. He then makes adjustments and gets the pop back, but whether that will remain true when he reaches Double-A and Triple-A (let alone the majors) remains to be seen. He's an interesting speculative investment and would be a Grade C+ prospect at this point.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 07:03 AM) As others have said, you're going to have to temper your expectations in what we actually get Nightengale actually said the same prospects surprisingly in his latest prediction article featured both Frazier and Robertson and named some specific players we would be getting back which is odd. Below is what he said about Robertson. YANKEES: A ROBERTSON REUNION The Yankees, one of the biggest surprises the first half, were planning to be aggressive at the trade deadline, right up until losing 18 of their last 25 games before the All-Star break. The Yankees sought Quintana, are in the Gray talks, and would like to pry first baseman Eric Hosmer from the Royals, too, but the Yankees’ strategy is nothing like those of their ancestors. They actually value their prospects. They’re not about to junk their entire rebuilding project to try to win the AL East. They instead will make moves for the present, and future, without costing top prospects. Prediction: The Yankees acquire Robertson from the White Sox and Prado from the Marlins, getting salary relief from each team, and giving up nothing more valuable than 22-year-old third baseman Miguel Andujar. If the price is right, they could grab Athletics first baseman Yonder Alonso, too https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/484205001/
  17. Not sure if this was posted yet but saw got on Bleacher Report. Nightingales predictions for the trade deadline. Someone said it was interesting he names Groome and Chavis as the prospects for Frazier and D-Rob, well he doubles up here. TODD FRaZIER It’s no secret that the Boston Red Sox committed a huge blunder trading third baseman Travis Shaw to the Milwaukee Brewers during the winter, and even a bigger one when they shelled out $95 million to Pablo Sandoval less than three years ago, only to designate him for assignment last week. It wound up costing them $6.8 million for every home run and $1.6 million every RBI. They’re now going with a third-base platoon of Brock Holt and Deven Marrero, and are waiting for elite third base prospect Rafael Devers to arrive, but they need to take care of this black hole quickly as possible. They are trying to decide between Todd Frazier of the Chicago White Sox, who’s a free agent after the season, and Miami Marlin Martin Prado, who still is owed $28.5 million after this year. Prediction: The Red Sox would love to acquire Frazier and closer David Robertson to be Craig Kimbrel’s setup man, but it would cost No. 2 prospect Jason Groome and No. 9 prospect Michael Chavis. If they instead take reliever Tommy Kahnle and Frazier, they would have to give up only Chavis and a fringe prospect. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/484205001/
  18. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 09:00 PM) I too would be extremely interested in acquiring Mateo to transition him into CF. Billy Hamilton with 15 HR potential? Yeah sign me up. Assuming Mateo could use his speed and transfer well to CF of course. I agree I would love Mateo, I know he has fallen off but a year ago he was a can't miss prospect and still young. If you can add Mateo in a system that already has Moncada, Robert, Jimenez, and Collins I'd be over the moon. Personally I think the Yankees would consider a D-Rob for Mateo trade.
  19. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 07:51 PM) Overkill? How? To what? Do we have an abundance of 3B prospects in not aware of? Or just hitting prospects in general? And personally I like Dalbeck more than Chavis but that's just going off the scouting reports I've read.
  20. What about Dalbeck? He's blocked by Devers and I like what I've read about him, is he a possibility ?
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) so in addition to having a stacked farm system - also keep on mind how absolutely little money we have tied up beyond in 2018 and beyond Great point. Can be used to fill those positions that aren't taken by members of the core or if someone's development takes longer than anticipated. More importantly it could be used at one of the big name FA coming up and will help fill out a bullpen. Realistically do we get anymore top-100 prospects from the players we still have to trade?
