  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 12:48 AM) Robertson for Severino makes too much sense I was one of the guys not too high on Servino. But read a few scouting reports and I'm actually now on the Servino for Robertson. Below is one of the better scouting reports I read. Scouting grades: Hit: 40 | Power: 35 | Run: 40 | Arm: 65 | Field: 60 | Overall: 45 A native of the Dominican Republic, Severino's stock has been on the rise since his impressive full-season debut at Class A Hagerstown in 2013. He moved up to Double-A last season and continued progressing on both sides of the ball, prompting the Nationals to give him a brief taste of the big leagues as a September callup, and he had another cup of coffee in D.C. early in 2016. Scouts view Severino as one of the best defensive catchers in the Minors. His athleticism and agility make him an excellent blocker, and he receives raves from pitchers and coaches alike for his pitch-framing and overall receiving skills. Severino is adept at controlling the running game, as his combination of advanced footwork and plus arm strength have produced an excellent caught-stealing rate over parts of six Minor League seasons. Despite having made strides at the plate in recent years, Severino's hitting ability continues to lag well behind his defense. His compact swing and penchant for contact suggest he'll hit for more average in the future, but power will never be a part of his game. Given Severino's defensive prowess, however, he won't need to be a steady contributor at the plate to serve as an everyday backstop in the big leagues. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=was
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Soxtalk, because I care about you, I'm taking a hit for the team and am going to listen to the buster olney podcast for the Nightengale bits on Quintana. I will report back. So you're the reason Soxtalk crashed!?! Lesson here is never listen to Buster!
  3. Not sure if it was posted but baseball tonight suggested a trade: Houston gets: Q Sox get: Martes, Reed, Daz Cameron They went around the table and said who says no and everyone agreed it's was a perfect trade. I know everyone wants Tucker but would you be okay with this? They said Martes is the best prospect so we would get another top prospect plus Reed and Cameron (who's Mike Cameron's son).
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Question for the board. What if Houston caved in and said they would trade Bregman but the trade would be Bregman for Q straight up. Would ya do it? Of course but guys lets be real Bregman isn't being trade for Q or anybody else.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Catching is at a huge premium because very few with a decent bat can stick at the position defensively. That is why we absolutely must be patient and try to develop Collins as a catcher Agreed. I hope we stay patient with all these guys. Almost wish we didn't rush Anderson and/or Fulmer. It would be nice for Anderson to develope the chemistry with these new guys, in particular Moncada since they are going to be staples in the middle infield for years to come.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) I'm kinda wondering if Severino has become an unhealthy obsession just because we are all familiar with him now. Is he that much better than the Astros catcher we just stuck in AAA? I agree Servino doesn't do much for me, catcher is such a hard postion to find that "guy" behind the plate. Between delveleping a bat along with good defensive, framing, and calling a game for an entire staff you wonder why every team in the leagues try's to hold onto these guys.
  7. I read that the Bosox were in on Wade Davis, and they were said to have interest in Robertson before. Question is would you rather trade Robertson for Servino or Swihart if we had the choice?
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) Here's the latest ranks in the Sox farm! http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=cws Damn, that's lookin sexy. And more to come!
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) https://mobile.twitter.com/AldoSoto21/statu...8799744/photo/1 Cubs 2014 VS Sox 2016 prospect rankings. Awesome to see and more to come. Would love to add just some high ceiling hitters for Q. I'm so excited just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Seeing this and knowing there's more how can one person here be upset?
  10. https://mobile.twitter.com/AldoSoto21/statu...8799744/photo/1 Cubs 2014 VS Sox 2016 prospect rankings. Awesome to see and more to come. Would love to add just some high ceiling hitters for Q. I'm so excited just waiting for the next shoe to drop.
  11. Nightengale: So the #WhiteSox land the top position prospect and pitching prospect in a matter of 24 hours, and they haven't even traded Quintana yet
  12. I'm actually very happy with this trade for real. Hell of a start. Now we need to turn Q dawg into three four high end postion players. So stoked.
  13. According to this ranking we got their 1 and 3 best prospects. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=was
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) Q to the Astros for a slew of young hitters is the logical final move...the Dodgers seem to be closed off as an avenue. Agreed let's hope we finish the Q deal tonight too lol. But don't count a Fraizer and Robertson deal to LA if they miss out on Turner and Their closer. We could get Bellinger Puig vertigo back as part of a package too.
  15. So their 1st and 2nd best pitchers in the system? I'll take it.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Giolito, Rodon, Fulmer, Kopech... HOLY s*** Sounds fing good. Now let's turn the rest into postion players. We got the pitching locked, please start getting some high end position players back.
  17. One thing about Giloto as a start of a return he is the best pitching prospect in the game. So technically we in two days would get the number one postion player and number one pitcher in the minors. And we still hold onto our second most value able piece (Q) for additional positional players, Robertson, Fraizer, Melky, Laurie, Jones, shields, etc we can trade for other high ceiling postion players. Gotta just Hahn has a plan and expects to get position players elsewhere and are taking advantage of getting Gioloto.
  18. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) If Sox are getting pitching back in this you have to get position players for Quintana. Hope this is the case. And another thing about accumulated high end pitching is you can always trade it away for bats, cost controlled pitching is something that will always be in demand. I would love this and a quick Q follow up with Houston for Reed, Tucker, and more.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) I saw Severino described as the best defensive catcher in the minors. That is worth capturing. Agreed but I rather have focus on shoreing up the middle of the field and Robles along with Moncada and Anderson does that. Servino is great as a add on but man to not get Robles stinks. I rather have him with either Lopez or Gioloto.
  20. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) what about Giolito + Lopez + Severino? Servino is a defensive catcher who's bat is way behind developing. I just don't get why we wouldn't insist on position players. I get pitching is king but man we need some hitters to go with these guys.
  21. Not sure why we continue to add pitching prospects when we need position players. And we have only added one in Moncada. This is too strange.
  22. QUOTE (MEANS @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Robles not in it per Rosenthal Damn that sucks, loading up on pitching
  23. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Why do people like Robles exactly? From looking at stats, he seems to be several years away and generally has the same skill set as Adam Eaton. No idea about defense. What is the point of this? He has elite speed, plus defensive, plus contact, and they say he can develope power once he grows into his body. He's approach is also said to be advanced. In the next year or two he could very well be the top prospect in MLB.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) For Eaton and how cheap and control we have, we can get Robles and 2 of Giolito/Fedde/Lopez imo Id be estatic with that but someone claimed it was Gioloto and Lopez. That would be awesome to get those guys but if we don't get Robles I'd be disappointed for sure.
  25. As much as I'd love Gioloto or Lopez back we need another young position player with star potential. I personally rather have Robles than either of them. Call me crazy.
