  1. The more the week goes on it looks like KW will surprise everyone again. Lots of scouts from different teams on Wednesday. Latest trade speculation per chicago breaking news: "The Sox's victory was witnessed in front of scouts from Washington, Arizona, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Cincinnati and San Diego. The Diamondbacks had two scouts, but one major league source said that any talks of a possible three-way deal involving the Sox, Washington and Arizona had not accelerated. Meanwhile, a FoxSports report late Wednesday night that Colorado will listen to offers for its players, less than one year after earning the National League wild card berth. Bill Scherrer, one of general manager Ken Williams' top talent evaluators, watched the Rockies last week in Florida. Colorado has left-handed hitter Brad Hawpe, who could serve as a fallback in the event the Sox don't land Washington slugger Adam Dunn. The competition for Dunn could increase with one report stating that Cubs slugger Derrek Lee exercised his trade veto rights to turn down a deal that would have sent him to the Los Angeles Angels." link:http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/07/jenks-caps-soxs-comeback-win-more-trade-options.html
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Wow, that would be amazing if the Giants got him. That'd make them the NL favorite, IMO. I agree, although I like the Bravos (Braves) a lot too. They have a great line up, solid D , and sustanable pitching. Bu I think you're right if the giants add Dunn they have to the favs better pitching for sure. On a side note, with all these teams interested I don't know how the sox can compete with the likes of the Rays, Rangers, or giants with prospects. All three of these teams hold onto prospects and no doubt have better farm systems and thus players then we do. With that said, it should make us all appreciate how good of a GM Kw is. He has to be a persuasive SOB on the phones.
  3. Figured I would update the latest from MLB trade rumors. MLBTR says more teams are in on Dunn but the sox and giants are the favorites. They also say we would be the best fit and claim to still want Hudson+ another prospect. I really hope this ends soon I'm addicted to checking MLBTRevery 15 minutes. I love the trade deadline ESP. When the sox are in it. Link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/adam...-wednesday.html
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) Wow. Now that is what you call a sleeper right there. I would love to have had 2004-2007 Big Papi, but I'd be afraid that we'd end up with the 2009 version. Plus he wants a multi year deal next year. I agree Big Poppi in his prime was one of a kind but his numbers this year are pretty impressive: HR RBI TB OBP SLG AVG 21 64 161 .370 .535 .256 A Rios/King Konerko/Pappi/TCQ is the best 3-6 in baseball hands down. That lineup is something opposing pitchers fear. I know he wants a multiple year deal next year, let him play for it with us. Let him walk collect B compensation. And then use prospects in the off season to land a power lefty bat like prince or sign Dunn w/o giving up hudson+ flowers, D2, Tank, Morel. I'm not saying Ortiz is our future DH bur he would sure fit nicely on the south side for 8 weeks + hopefully. Like I said far fetched but a sleeper indeed.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Welcome to the board! Have to say though, I'm confused by the idea. I think Boston still sees themselves in the race. It's probably far fetched (you're right), but it makes sense for both sides. From all the rumors out there the trade market prices in terms if prospects in general are ridiculous. The reliever market even more so, Downs=Joba or Monterro or In BOstons case one of their top prospects. Looking from the red sox side- They have a stacked roster at 1B/3B/C/DH. They have Victor Mart, Youkilis, Lowell, Ortiz and Cash/Hermedia that all play the same postions for the most part, plus a lot of aging vets that could benefit from Dh. In terms of production in my opinion you basically get the same out if all them. Now from the rumors Lowells market is small and dwindling by the day, however he has shown that when he plays he succeds even with the Bo sox. The way I look at it to trade Ortiz with Lowell 3x a week won't cost them that much in terms of production, for that reason and monetary wise. I don't hve the specifics but I do believe they are both due about the same $ this year, and are free agents (we have team control with Bobby but don't think at this point we pay him what he wants next Why the palehose may be interested- We don't have to mortgage our future for a left handed bat we so badly need. Hudson remains the 5th starter (or in theory we could trade him for a vetean reliable starter for the playoffs). Our bullpen is solid even without jenks. Putz and thorton are the closets based on matchups (lefty/righty) Santos and Pena/Threets set up. We will be acquring what could be a solid LOOGY out of the pen when we call Sale up in late Aug/Sept. Ortiz is having a great year and would rake in the cell. He's a great clubhouse guy and we aren't really messing with the magical chemistry everyone talks about. I know looking at it is a head scratcher but really in my opinion it makes a lot of sense. I do think KW makes a move. He has had an itch to add a bat since ST and I believe he knows to hve success in this division and hopefully in the playoffs we need to be able to slug with yankees. KW is always under the radar and I think he'll surprise everyone again at the deadline. This would be a KW like move in my opinion.
  6. This hasn't been talked about yet. With the emergence of Santos and the fact that Putz and Thorton are pitching well. What about a Jenks for David Ortiz? The redsox are looking for relif and ortiz is a great clutch left handed power bat.
