Good for Bo
LOved how the story last paragraph said he played for the Raiders and the Royals. Didnt they omit a particular team?

I assume we will be the host team every year.... right?
If the Cubs are actually in it like Ross says then it can't be the Sox. We play them May 3rd & 4th (Cubs Home) and May 28th & 29th (Sox Home). Corn ain't real high in May.

Had a buddy text me this morning. His GF hasn't been feeling great, she thinks she is fine but wants to get tested just to be safe. They told her she would hear back on a test results.....IN 16 DAYS. 16! He said they have faster options but none are covered by insurance and he didn't feel like paying the $150.
I couldn't believe when he said 16 days. What's the point?
That's completely unacceptable. I live in very rural Wisconsin. Went to a free drive thru test site and had my results in less than 48 hours. That kind of turnaround for a free test could help slow the spread. Not having to wait 16 days.

Glad you are feeling better.
Thanks. Luckily, to my knowledge anyways, nobody that I had contact with got infected. A couple people I had been around got tested but came back negative. That was my biggest fear was that I infected someone else. Guess I had an ill advised sense of comfort living in my small town of 1000 people and maybe wasn't as careful as I should have been.

Today is my first day back at work after being off for 2.5 weeks after testing positive. I had every symptom on the list other than the lost of taste and smell. Never got overly sick but lost 12 pounds in 5 days. Had zero appetite and some pretty bad diarrhea. I got lucky as my case seemed to be mild, but even with my mild case I lose my breath doing anything physical at all. Even walking from the couch to the bathroom I have to take a couple minutes to catch my breath.

I've only gone to roughly 20 or so games in my life but my most memorable was The Big Hurt's return with Oakland. 2 HR game that ended with a Pablo Ozuna walk off bunt single to score AJ with 2 outs. That game was the turning point in Frank's season too. .178/.300/.378 slash before it, a .302/.408/.603 slash after. The rest of that season Frank looked like mid '90s Frank all over again at age 38.

Not a fan of his advanced stats, his WHIP is very 'meh'
His WHIP? Really? That is not an advanced stat.

Just for clarification, Frick Award winners are not actually inducted into the hall and are not technically considered HOFers. It is just an award given out by the HOF.

Moncada is hyped.
That is a pretty studly middle of the order there. If Robert and Madrigal end up being what we hope we are definitely going to score some runs.

Because maybe I'm not so negative and I'm willing to give JR the benefit of the doubt for the time being. The guy who said this is a known scumbag, so it's possible that he's talking out of his ass. I'm not waiting forever. I'm giving him a couple more offseasons to prove this guy wrong. Who knows? Maybe this will motivate JR to open his wallet for once. I won't deny that it was an extremely plausible accusation.
I left the Hawks for 7 years when Dollar Bill traded Roenick and Belfour, I've done it before and I'm not afraid to do it again. If I leave, I'll be back when ownership changes hands.
See ya.

You can also still win a batting title if you don't reach the qualifying PA's. Your average, for leaderboard purposes, is just calculated as if you had enough hitless at bats to reach the qualifying mark. Tony Gwynn did so in '96.

This worries me. If Hahn trades Abreu at the deadline, he might bring back Alonso to replace Abreu.
That's really a worry of yours? Like you honestly believe there's a possibility of that happening?

Who would have guessed coming into the season that McCann would become our 4 hitter with a .900+ OPS and probably an All Star? Anybody raising their hand is a freaking liar.

Todd Ritchie, Dan Wright, Gary Glover in 2002; Phil Humber, Liriano, Danks, Peavy in 2012.
In 2012 Peavy had a 3.37 ERA, 3.73 FIP, 3.99 xFIP across 219 IP. Accumulated 5.0 rWAR, 4.4 fWAR and made the All Star team. I don't think he really fits here.

Also worth noting that they are now calling Castillo's injury an oblique strain, instead of lower back tightness. Not uncommon for oblique strains to take some time to heal, so he is unlikely to return after his 10 days is up. That also means the Sox aren't going to be able to DH Collins and/or McCann frequently, unless they are willing to roll the dice. So we may not get a good feel for how the Sox truly intend to use Collins until Welington returns.
This is such a minor risk that it should never preclude you from doing it if that is your best lineup. Worst case your pitcher may have to bat a time or two (so not really any worse than half our lineup).

Edwin Jackson was actually pretty good for the Sox. 11-9 wit a 3.66 ERA and 3.22 FIP. 174 Ks to 57 walks.
Exactly. Never understood the hate for that guy. He made just 30 starts with the Sox and put up 4.8 fWAR, what the hell more do people want from the guy?

Yes, I saw that, but he has pretty much been totally lost at the plate, until those last few games.
He has a .304/.385/.478 line over the last 7 games. No way you demote him now that he's started hitting.

Castillo is barf and you should not use your backup c at dh barring emergency. MLB rosters are a joke.
I'll never understand why people care so much about this. If McCann gets hurt and Castillo has to come in the pitcher or pinch hitter has to bat the rest of the game. Not the end of the world.

And now Nate Jones is coming out to pitch? Why not use Ruiz, you’re sending him back down when Anderson is reactivated before the home opener.
Guess I'm not understanding all the b****ing. Guys need to pitch and if they didn't pitch today it would be a minimum of 4 days off for Herrera and 5 days off for Jones, and that's only if there get in the game Friday.

Yes now is the time for Covey, not with a 1 run lead in the 8th.
Why do we need Covey? Just let Rodon throw 200 pitches.

I guess the best case scenario for Collins is to be pre-White Sox Adam Dunn, which is still a useful player. Idk if he has that much power though, but I've heard he might.
Pre-White Sox Dunn was just "a useful player"? No, pre-White Sox Dunn was on pace for 600+ homers and a spot in the HOF.

Per DVS on twitter, this will be the lineup:
Garcia CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Alonso DH, Eloy LF, Palka RF, Anderson SS, McCann C, Sanchez 2B
Mostly dig it. I like Garcia getting the nod over Engel. Still not a huge fan of Moncada in the 2 hole, but I guess that just going to be the way it is. A little surprised to see McCann in over Wellington, but I get the feeling that Ricky prefers McCann.
This offense could be fun to watch at times. That 2-7 could end up hitting 150-160 homeruns this year.

Who did? Konerko or Thome?
Thome. And Dick Allen's '72 season is probably the 2nd greatest season a White Sox player has ever had including Frank Thomas.

Belle's 1998 was probably the best non-Frank season in Sox history. Dye's 2006 is a distant second.
Dye didn't even lead his team in wRC+ or OPS+ that year.

This one kind of saddens me as Denlinger and I went to the same high school, tho a decade and a half apart. A friend of mines daughter is married to Theo's brother. Shortly after Theo was drafted I met him at my local tavern and talked to him for quite awhile regarding the draft process and the things the White Sox instructed him to work on and things like that. It was quite interesting. I was really hoping he would make it with the White Sox.
