  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) I suppose the allure and being the #1 guy in a brand new team in Brooklyn would be a very good incentive as well. True, you win a few in New Jersey you build your own legacy, you win one in Chicago folks will be asking for five more. Let him go to Dallas, New Jersey, doesn't matter to me. I'd hate the Lakers though. That is the funniest thing with Lebron and Wade though, no matter how many Lebron wins Wade will still always have one more (and be more beloved in Miami). I swear Wade did that to dupe Lebron for the rest of his playing days.
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) Doesn't like the cold weather. Yeah, thought that also until he wanted to go to tropical New Jersey. Last year they got hit with more snow then we did I believe.
  3. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) One has been that he will always play 2nd fiddle to Rose. Makes you wonder how much 23 scares off a lot of players. I can only think of a couple of players who would have relished that challenge, Kobe for one, and Iverson seemed like a person would have had the stones to at least attempt it. Durant also seems like that type of person. Oh well, Rose will just have to do it the hard way I guess.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) I understand the doom and gloom, but I think the Sox are in an ok position. If they can get that rotation in order over the next couple of years, in this division, and with their revenue streams, they should be able to rebuild rather quickly. Think about how different things would be if you added Gonzalez and Hudson to Sale. A good, cheap, rotation is a key to the Sox contending for a World Series. But that is not fair to do because once you don't trade Gio who is to say you draft Hudson, or Sale. You can't just add all the former players you want because they may not have been in the system to begin with if move A was never made.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) where did you hear that? Can not link a specific quote, or article off the top of my head but if you do enough digging around and reading on various NBA boards (like RealGM) it seems pretty clear that he isn't interested in playing here. If he really wanted to be here we have enough assets to give Orlando a nice (maybe not best in the world) package of players & picks. If he really wanted to be here, somewhere someplace we'd have heard just that by now, especially with the shoe connection with Rose. But hey, it is only rumors, and we all know how reliable they are.
  6. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) How the Bulls not offering everything possible, with the exception of DROSE, to acquire dwight isn't being even mentioned is completely beyond me... I can only fantasize about a team built around DROSE and dwight. Nothing else could compete with miami in terms of talent. All of the talk should be this, NOT the knicks trying to acquire cp3 or howard to teams like the nets, clippers, or lakers(!). But alas, we get news about Bulls management showing interest in arron afflalo and mike miller and nick young and moving c.j. watson to shooting guard and even scalabrine (yuck)... I guess all we can do is pray every night that the Bulls were able to "luck" into drafting Rose because Bulls management does not seem capable of ever making a top-tier acquisition to help DROSE in building a true championship-caliber team rather than merely a contender, given the current NBA landscape... Where's the hype to actually make it happen?! Because it has been rumored that Howard wants nothing to do with Chicago. Makes no sense chasing somebody that doesn't want to play here.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) i believe all players have to pass through waivers after the trade deadline, and pretty much every comment from the talking heads on twitter mention that the Cowboys can block the Bears Just a question, can they still block the Bears now, they are the division leader while the Bears are a second place team. I would think now the Bears come before them, but I'm just speculating. Last week they could because the Bears were one game ahead of them.'m not so sure this week.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 24, 2011 -> 02:43 AM) My source has been spot on so far, if Buehrle doesnt sign I would be shocked. The org values him above pretty much everyone in the rotation but Sale. Great to hear, that doesn't surprise me very much. As long as somebody doesn't go super crazy for Mark (over $16 a year, for 5+ years) I think the Sox will make a very nice, fair, and respectful offer.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) why not? there are two of them We'll see Cara again, they won't dump him because his merch sells so well.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) What do you do about the pitching? You draft it the next three years when you're drafting in the top ten each year. Heck, with all the people you want to dump the Sox will e drafting in the top five for however many years.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) It was a damn good 5th post. Heh, thanks. Buehrle is going to have interest, but the things we don't know are how much, and how much. So far we hear that about five teams have interest, and that the Yankees are on the fringe. The second thing that we don't know is how much $$$ are these teams going to offer him. I don't think any team is going to shower Mark with more than $15, he is good, he is reliable, but he is not worth more than that. I think if the Sox make a respectful offer he'll stay, and if somebody overpays he'll have a decision to make. Yes it'll stink if we lose him, but it wouldn't be the end of the world, it wouldn't be the end of next season. If you re hoping that Mark stays I think the teams you are rooting for to make an offer are the Cubs, and Marlins. I don't think JR would let him leave to either of those two teams, but that is just pure speculation.
  12. Like Ace said, isn't this the exact same thing that happened with Konerko, let him find the best offer out there and give the Sox the last chance. I think we all need to relax just a bit, we don't even know what the offers are yet. And if Phil Rogers is saying he's gone then that is a good sign, because he is mostly wrong on Sox news.
  13. Yeah, that is a pretty bad injury list, I knew about a few of them but didn't know about the rest. If he ever recovers it probably wouldn't be next year, its a shame though, he was a really good player his early years.
  14. I'd bring him in and see if Herm can work his magic. He is younger than Dye when we brought him in, and still has a lot of talent. I'm not sure what he is recovering from so that could be a huge warning, but it couldn't hurt to see if the Sox can rehab him.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) So to recap the questions that the truthsayer didn't ask... -If Cooper is a backstabber for being back with the Sox, what does that make Harold Baines? -If loyalty is so important, why didn't Ozzie take Greg Walker and Jeff Cox with him? -If Cooper is Kenny Williams' b**** for telling Kenny what is going on in the locker room, what does that make Joe for telling the general public Ozzie's version of what is going on in the locker room? -What happened to the promise about not writing about Guillen for three weeks? -The Sox had Guillen under contract for 2012 because he asked for, and received, the exercise of his option last year. When you factor in that guys like Joe Torre and Tony LaRussa have managed on to the last year of their deal multiple times, what makes Ozzie think he is more deserving of a deal than guys who will be Hall of Fame managers? -If Kenny Williams is "Hollywood" for a very short cameo on a Chicago themed tv show, what does it make Ozzie Guillen for going on to things like Fox and ESPN for TV coverage, not to mention the facebook account, the twitter account, and the webpages? Why doesn't Joe call out someone like AJ for going on TV and even on wrestling shows? -If Don Cooper is wrong for going over Ozzie's head to go to Kenny for an extension when he doesn't have a contract for 2012, why isn't it wrong for Ozzie to go over Kenny's head to Jerry Reinsdorf, when he already has a deal for 2012? Am I missing anything that any objective columnist would have asked Ozzie at some point? A Cyborg. Baines is going to look the same and act the same for well over 100 years, when everybody else is gone from this Earth. Because they cost him his job, nobody wants Cox, and Walker bleeds black and white. Megab****. He just couldn't sit on this amazing story, somebody else (either from there basement or wherever) could have gotten it out before him. Well, they have the stones to actually try and win under pressure. Don't you know winning is hard and he can only do that when he has a guarantee contract for three or four years. Ozzie "the truth sayer" Guillen, Oz speaks the truth, the only truth and nothing but the truth. Oz is just looking out for his family man, his family gotta eat you know.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) Now that the Oz haters got their way, I'm surprised this board isn't more anti Kenny. He's put together a very s***ty team and yet there's not the daily railing about Kenny. I don't get it, Oz haters. Kenny won the initial battle. Now the venom should be toward getting rid of him as well. The only thing good about kenny right now IMO is he hasn't gloated about his winning the war with Ozzie. He's been humble after his victory. I am so tired of this same old spiel from you, you should just move on from it. A lot of other people seem to have. Kenny will get his as there are many who want him gone, time and time again a bunch of folks have pointed this out to you. Kenny is not loved on this board, and many want him gone. It is apparent that JR will not get rid of him at this point in time so there is no reason to keep up that same old song and dance about him. It harder to build a team than manage it. People will no doubt come with torches a blazing when the season is over. You do realize that games are still being played right now. The World Series hasn't even begun, Kenny hasn't even made a decision yet with the team other than the Ventura signing. Yeah, Oz gave him a huge head start. What venom, the board didn't make the decision, JR did. We don't have a single say in what goes on with the team. Kenny didn't win jack, do you truly think he is happy sitting at home and not still playing games. Btw, I've been a long long long time lurker, really love the actual baseball talk and White Sox banter that goes on around here (from time to time). Basically just signed up to ignore a few folks. When you lurk you have to read everything that folks say, or just skim a bunch. It really became laughable to read some people. I told myself I'd never join a sports board just because of the amount of silliness that some folks say but I just couldn't take it anymore. So I hope to be a good member here, I probably won't post a bunch on a regular basis, but maybe I'll add my two pennies from time to time. =) Larry.
