  1. There are already so many Bears fans who have ran with the idea Caleb doesn’t want to be here, mostly based on fake twitter stories or speculation. When the truth comes out to counter that, it sadly doesn’t even matter.
  2. I can already forsee the cope narratives if, by chance, this story is correct: “Guys….. it doesn’t matter how well Williams is playing. He didn’t want to play here.” ”We would have ruined him like everyone else.” ”(Insert team) had a better coaching situation for him” ”(insert team) had a better locker room for him to thrive in, like the Eagles with Jalen Carter.”
  3. Even if it was true, there’s a difference between saying he doesn’t want to play for the Bears versus he won’t. How many players are really drafted to a team they want to go to? And this whole idea of wanting to go to Washington because he grew up nearby; well it didn’t impact where he went to college
  4. Exactly, tough s%*#. It’s easy to look back and say everything worked out well for the Chargers. But it would have obviously been better having Eli. Caleb can sit out the start of his career on the bench, then. I’m not watching him win titles for Washington
  5. He also mentioned the whole lame duck coaching scenario, where Eberflus may not even be here a few seasons from now and everything starts over with Caleb. I’ll never understand why they didn’t replace Flus, when everything was aligned not only for Harbaugh - but several appealing alternatives.
  6. If Atlanta believes Williams/Maye/Daniels will all be off the board by their pick (which is likely), and their sights are on QB maybe it’s worth it to them to weigh the options. Especially if they know other teams may be interested in Fields later in the 1st round
  7. I really hope they look beyond that. If the Bears believe Maye is the guy, then they need to draft him. Before this year, it was also said OSU didn’t produce QBs
  8. I don’t hate him, he’s an extremely like able and hard working player. But watching a rookie divisional opponent dominate today, and another rookie dominate yesterday, it’s more apparent it’s time to move on and aim higher than mediocrity from the QB position.
  9. If the Bears organization believes a generational QB is NOT in this draft, that’s a tremendous haul.
  10. Imagine for a second of having the possibility of exclusively drafting two generational QBs in back to back seasons, and not doing it. I just can’t believe Poles sticks with Fields and risks that.
  11. 236 yards in the first half for Stroud against the VAUNTED Cleveland defense. Fields had 166 yards the whole game. But I’m sure that disparity is because Getsy called a terrible game, or the Oline didn’t give him 10 seconds to throw…
  12. Terrible non call with the PI. The officiating cannot miss those calls in the playoffs, no matter how close it appears in real-time.
  13. There was a youtube video I came across a few days ago where someone analyzed the various QB’s, and Jayden Daniels came out ahead in nearly every advanced metric. Granted, there are countless variables involved; but I hope the Bears are exploring every possibility. If they believe JD is the #1, draft him there. If they trade down even past #4, there’s a good chance, JD, Maye, Williams and MHJ are all off the board. You may very well have a haul of future draft picks, but cmon - you want to be in this position to draft generational talent. We cannot pass it up
  14. It’s one of the most important questions concerning their draft evaluation skills. If they graded Fields above Stroud, well they were wrong and have to learn from it. What happens If we trade down and any of the top QB’s (but especially Maye or Williams) meet their expectations. You cannot say “no one could have predicted it,” either. When literally those two have been 1A, 1B for a year. I know Bears fans usually cope with such devastating draft oversights by saying, “oh, well, they would not have been the player they are right now in the Bears organization.” Again, no excuse. You had an opportunity to revamp the entire organization and preparation for one of the top quarterbacks. Unless….Fields takes an unprecedented step forward and becomes a Top 10 quarterback when no metric has suggested it is likely. But whatever they choose, just….get it right. That’s all we ask
  15. Poles has to hit right with every draft selection, every roster move; everything. Or else we’re looking at another lost decade with maybe a playoff birth or two sprinkled in
  16. At some point, we have to acknowledge it’s not just a fluke to hit with three straight QBs. What do they see that no one else does…..every single time? It’s more than sitting and learning the position.
  17. They can’t, and as chw42 suggested, that arrangement will lend itself to an unknown looking for their first coaching job.
  18. Their thought process could very well be, we are aware of the trend and purposely won’t fire Eberflus or Poles, regardless of results, to build continuity (and remove that talking point)
  19. It creates unnecessary drama, too. The ol’ quarterback controversy will exist from day one. Every bad game from Fields will start the chatter to replace him. Why put ourselves in this situation? We’re not drafting a QB to learn on the bench from Fields.
  20. Wouldn’t this scenario make it more obvious that Williams will be drafted? You’re not bringing in a new offensive coach to work with two different styles of QB.
  21. I would expect playoffs at a minimum as well. But that would have been the same standard if Fields returned. The difference here is we’re hopefully drafting a QB with the floor of outperforming Fields, and a ceiling of becoming a generational talent. All at a much cheaper cost.
  22. So how does GB keep getting it right? They just lucked in Favre, Rodgers and Love? There’s obviously something they’ve perfected in their evaluations. And i do not believe the “sitting behind another QB learning the craft” nonsense they also bring up with Mahomes and Alex Smith.
  23. Luckily, outside of an unexpected draft trade, one of two highly ranked OL (Alt, Olu) should be available at #9
  24. I was hoping for a scenario where the Bears trade down and draft Jayden Daniels or Penix Jr., but I don’t believe it would be worth the risk to slide below #3 and expect them to be available. We need to decide among Penix Jr./Daniels/Williams/Maye who is the one. Good luck Bears!
