  2. What about the first two plays leading up to those third downs? Fields is not doing ANYTHING
  3. Someone explain why Fields only has 9 throwing attempts?
  4. I would love a 300+ yard passing, 3 TD/ 0 INT performance from Fields…..for his trade value.
  5. This may as well be what they thought for the last draft, when the Bears didn’t believe Stroud would be who he is. That is exactly what they pay people to do - analyze stats, scout players, and compile information to come up with a decision. Carolina apparently wanted Stroud, but the owner overruled the decision. What is our excuse? Has it ever come out yet? if the next Stroud is in this draft, they better be the one’s drafting him. unless there’s a Brady type picked in later rounds that the excuse can be used of, “oh well everyone could have drafted him!”
  6. And that’s not to say it was a terrible decision to trade down with Carolina. It has worked out tremendously. We are very fortunate to be in this position to have an opportunity to draft Fields’ replacement. Can we please not screw it up?
  7. This is exactly the mindset we should have. Bears fans need to look closely at what a legitimate, perhaps generational QB looks like and demand that for themselves. Don’t be content with mediocrity. What I love about Stroud’s situation is it exposes several uncomfortable questions. For one, who was involved with scouting and ultimately making the decision that Stroud was not a better choice than Fields? Someone, at some point, had to say - “Yeah we think Fields is better. Stick with him.” I hope everyone involved (Poles, Warren, scouting dept.) have sharpened their evaluation process and hopefully have learned from this mistake. We can’t make it again. If they decide to keep Fields, well then they’ve given us the assurance he is better than every 1st/2nd round QB coming out of the draft. Surely they can’t be wrong two years in a row, right guys!?
  8. Well, we could have had him. I cannot wait to see the next great QB we pass to keep Fields…
  9. https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2024/1/3/24024084/improving-justin-fields-still-chasing-packers-jordan-love How pathetic is this? Yet year 3 of Fields and we’re just content with mediocrity. Let’s get the excuses ready for a GB beatdown.
  10. I like the data aspect of the article on Fields, but also disagree with how they cherry picked draft position. What about drafts where a QB was taking at #1 and #3? Or #1 and #4? Would we be better off then?
  11. Penix Jr. looks outstanding tonight. I love watching this kid play. He could end up being a real steal for some team.
  12. Wash and NE could always call our bluff. We only have two teams to trade with at the current standings, since Arizona would likely pick MHJ. It would depend how much Washington wants to jump NE. We couldnt risk trading beyond the #4 pick if MHJ is our focus
  13. It’s definitely a tough decision. To even be in this position, where we have the number one pick (plus DJ Moore, plus 25’ 2nd rounder) with a team just outside of playoff contention, says a lot about how this trade has worked out in our favor. Poles deserves credit there.
  14. Also, I should add that the option of trading down, collecting draft capital, having MHJ as our first pick, is not a bad option. The team will likely improve upon their record and make the playoffs. Which then is supplemented with the draft picks in the following years. I just personally believe more in finding the right QB and building around him, than creating the team and inserting in the replacement
  15. Yes. I believe both could with the passing stats. Daniels too. I don’t feel Fields is terrible; however, I think this opportunity should be taken to improve at that position
  16. My problem with that scenario is, entering next year there’s no telling which talent will be available, or where they draft, to find a QB replacement. There are several legitimate QB prospects coming out of this draft. And with their position at number one, they have enough time and resources to make the right choice. You cannot just pass on Stroud and Williams/Maye/Daniels in consecutive years, and survive as GM. Unless Fields outperforms them all. Which would be the only reason for not drafting them, right? That your people believed he was better?
  17. This is exactly the same thing Bears fans were saying last year. Granted, there were games which flashed his potential - but not consistently enough to warrant passing over a QB again. Especially at our position where every single QB is on the board.
  18. I’m willing to accept that risk. Another classic Bears scenario would be passing on another QB to retain Fields, and there ends up being another tremendous talent like Stroud who produces immediately. Meanwhile the Bears move on from Fields after 24’.
  19. I would agree neither Bernstein and Holmes have worshipped Fields; however, both are suspiciously hesitant to criticize him. Listen to their interviews with Gordon Wittenmeyer from the Tribune. Holmes focuses more on the blame of coaching, Gordon focuses on Fields. And then Berstein will say, “I hate sideways football,” and criticize the playcalling but does any really believe Getsy is that dense? That he just wants his QB to fail? Or he has never considered the idea of consistently throwing down field? They don't trust Fields. The proof has always been there. It’s a tough decision for Poles. He may think, with a few more offensive weapons from the draft, this is a playoff team. And I believe he would be right. But is that enough? Are we content with just making it, or creating a SB team? I’d rather aim higher and improve at the QB position with the 1st pick, take a OL with the 2nd pick, then supplement with (hopefully) a 2nd round pick from Fields.
  20. Also, it’s great watching Mahomes and Kelce pouting on the sidelines. “How is it possible everything isn’t going the way we want it to!? “
  21. There’s something so satisfying about watching a trick play fall apart from the offensive GENIUS Reid.
  22. Scary finish. Hell of a game for Young to breakout. And now the Bears are beating the Cardinals early. I know no lead is safe, but Arizona is looking every bit of their record
  23. It’s just so maddening to me how people can’t see it with Fields. If you have to wait until these final weeks to make a decision, then the decision has already been made. We know what we have. Maybe he’s “good enough” for a fringe playoff team (which the Bears could be), but that shouldn’t be enough. Expect more, Bears fans. Start raising the expectations. We all wanted Fields to be the franchise QB, but it’s not working for him here.
  24. That’s great, but his opinion is worthless. He’s saying what’s expected for a teammate.
  25. You’re right, he isn't the guy. And I’m willing to take that chance drafting another QB.
