  1. And Alexei had a good 10 pitch at bat before flying out.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) Still surprising that they were so insistent on Santiago in the bullpen earlier in the season. That is true.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) I'll give the Sox credit, they sure didn't hesitate pulling Axelrod from the rotation. As they should. Santiago actually has a future in this rotation. Easy decision in my opinion.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) Maybe they need Axelrod to throw batting practice before the game? Lol this cracks me up. So true.
  5. And I really doubt that tweet about Arizona not scouting Peavy is true. They could just be saying that. They have no one else left to scout unless Alexei or Lindstrom?
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 4m Teams scouting #WhiteSox-#Braves today: TOR, BOS, SEA, NYY, BAL, AZ. Not all looking at Peavy. NYY on normal coverage. AZ not pursuing him. what? I doubt that. That doesn't make sense.
  7. David Schuster ‏@Schumouse 10m The scouts in attendance might out number the actual fans here at U.S. Cellular today lol
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) This was supposedly the package agreed upon in the Garza deal. This should bode well for the Sox trading Peavy as this is a nice haul Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 3m #Cubs-#Rangers stalled deal was Garza + another #Cub to #Rangers for Neil Ramirez, Luis Sardinas, Mike Olt, CJ Edwards per @JeffWilson_FWST That is avery nice haul. If Peavy pitches well today, and a package of him and Crain. It would get a lot more than that in my opinion.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) If it brings you the right player, I have no problem making Quintana available, but it better be a blockbuster type trade. He's a LH starting pitcher under 25, half a decade from free agency, putting up ERA's in the mid-3's in a pitchers park. He has one of the top 20 or so best ERA's in the AL and it's only his 2nd season above A ball. He's basically already a number 2 starter. Basically we ought to be getting one of the top offensive prospects in baseball back for him, plus additional guys, to make it worth it. I seriously doubt anyone's going to give up that kind of value for a starting pitcher at this point, but I'd listen if it was offered. I agree with Balta. Quintana has shown major improvements from last year, throwing his pitches at different speeds, hitting his spots better and keeping batters off balance. Mix in a righty with Sale, Quintana and Santiago who I think has the 2nd best stuff on the staff is scary good.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) Where do you suppose Reed's value is to Crain's? I'd prefer not to package Peavy and Crain if at all possible. I'm not an expert to say the least but I believe that Crain has more of a track record. Crain when healthy is easily the best set up man in the game this year. Putting up a 0.78 ERA in the AL is remarkable. There is major interest in him because he is in the last year of his contract, and frankly I don't think Hahn wants to trade Reed. Packaging Peavy and Crain would certainly package a good haul of prospects, especially Boston, I know they love Crain and Bailey just went down with a season ending injury. Boston prospects I'd be interested in are: Webster, Owens, Bentz, Cecchini, Marrero, Britton, Workman, De La Cruz, and Margot. DBacks prospects I'd be interested in are: Owings, Davidson, Eaton, Anderson, Lamb, Trahan, Holmberg, and Barrett. Packaging Peavy and Crain to either of those teams can get you 4 or 5 of those players.
  11. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:41 AM) Whose place did he take on the roster? Simon Castro
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) I think you're on to something...trading pieces that aren't obvious. And especially if Hahn is targeting a young cornerstone, #3 hitter. With our pitching we are 2-3 dominant bats from being a force. We could smash Detroit with 2 good bats. I completely agree. I can honestly say I trust Sale, Quintana, Santiago, Danks and Johnson as the rotation next year. That is a very solid rotation to build off of. Getting young quality bats in trades will certainly help this team. I'm 21 years old, and this is the first time that the Sox are considered "selling" at the deadline and I absolutely love it. I want Hahn to build around the rotation and get young hitting talent in this system and with the big club. I'm very excited. Don't disappoint Hahn.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Can we get Eaton and Owings from AZ? Throw Crain in for s***s and gigs? Eaton and Owings gives you a nice start to a quick rebuild. I know their looking for bullpen help big time. I could see a Eaton, Owings, Anderson and Lamb for Peavy, Crain, and cash.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) I think the return for Rios will ultimately be underwhelming therefore I think the Sox should seriously consider dealing Reed as a way to improve the overall talent haul they get back at the deadline. Guys I would like to see gone: Crain Lindstrom Peavy Rios Ramirez Dunn De Aza Reed Agreed with everyone except Reed and De Aza. Reed is controlled for 4-5 more years. De Aza is extremely cheap and so far has been pretty good at the plate this year.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) You know, for once, I think Marty kinda has a point. I still think the reason to trade Peavy is that the sox are already loaded with pitching, but "making sure Jake doesn't get hurt again while we're paying for him" isn't the worst reason I've ever hear. Agreed with Marty. Have to trade Peavy before the deadline. He pitches well, very valuable because he's not a rental.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) Not sure. If Peavy pitches well it should be a nice haul. I would rather deal with Arizona because I want Chris Owings. Yeah I do too. Kid is solid.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) I want Bryce Brent from the Red Sox. What kind of package you think we could get for Peavy and Crain?
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) Boston and Arizona are definitely the teams that we want interested. Those are two systems loaded with position players. Agreed, if I'm Hahn, I would start with these 2 teams, and end with these 2 teams.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 3m Boston has a scout at the CWS game today, presumably to watch Peavy and follow up on some of the background work they have done. This is going to get interesting over Peavy and Crain. Both the Red Sox and DBacks love both of these guys. Hopefully both fighting over them will drive the price up. I could see a package of Cecchini, Britton, Keury De La Cruz, and Margot would be a good package for Peavy and Crain from the Red Sox.
  20. Chris Bassitt just followed me on twitter lol. I was so surprised, I don't know how he found me but I thought I would share with you guys.
  21. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:23 AM) If they are doing background work on Peavy, they should like what they find. Garin Cecchini would be a nice get from them as part of a package. I'd love a package built around Cecchini.
