  1. I’d prefer a cold water tweet than that garbage Tex proposal in Rosenthal’s article. Duran, Porter and Lieter is a tuuuurrrribbblllleee
  2. I was asking for packages both including Jones, and not including Jones. I don't think the Sox move Cease to NYY without Jones, tbh.
  3. What are some realistic packages including and not including Jones? Jones, Hampton, and Lalane? Arias, Hampton, Lombard and LaLane?

A little surprised to see Speas optioned already. Seemed like he had a leg up on a rotation spot with already having a 40-man spot.
  5. The Sox have less than $38M committed to their 2025 roster. Even if Cease and Eloy are somehow on the 25 roster (chances of both are out 0%, I'd imagine), its still sub $70M. Unless JR is going full out A's-mode, they're going to have to sign some legitimate free agents next offseason.
  6. Helpful anecdote 19 years later.
  7. I get what you're saying and I too wish every game was televised, but what you're asking for is something no other team does. So this isn't just another "white sox gonna white sox".
  8. I mean, there are plenty of things to b**** about regarding the Sox, but does any team set up a webcast to every single spring game? Clearly not, or every Sox spring game would be televised and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Just like every team has dudes that get hurt.

    You must be new here.

I don't think it is that likely just because he'd need to be added to the 40 man, likely along with 4-5 other NRIs.

This probably pretty close to the OD lineup except Fletcher in for Pillar and maybe shifted up the lineup a bit.
  12. Competitive in this division? Sure. Sox have very little committed to the 2025 roster and payroll besides a bargain superstar in Robert. A little tough to see Getz's longer term vision at this point (besides improving the defense) as nearly everyone he has acquired is a 1 year stop gap outside of Fletcher.

No, and even if he did it doesn't matter. Its not up to him.
  14. I absolutely cringe every time the man speaks. I would love to see the Sox surprise this season and play some level of interesting baseball for a few months, but if the season goes off the rails, one benefit is that clown hopefully being jettisoned to the moon.
  15. Matt Thompson and Baily Horn have the exact same amount of control. Sure, Horn is a couple years older, but the Sox traded a guy who extremely likely to never make it for a guy that has a decent chance to be a part of the Sox bullpen the next half decade+, and has three options. I also don't really understand why some here are grouping Dom Fletcher into the "low upside situational player" pool. He looks like a 2 WAR floor player that can play above average OF defense all three OF positions.
  16. I don't really see what the problem is here. Trading for a major league ready lefty reliever with 6 years of control for a guy that walks the world and is very unlikely to ever make it seems like a perfectly reasonable non-descript baseball trade.
  17. Carved out a role as a swing man on a bad team making some starts and eating some innings out of the pen? Not sure how that is some wild stretch. I am not talking about the guy becoming a mainstay in the pen for the next half decade.
  18. Feel for Jesse. That might be all she wrote for his MLB shots at his age, and he could have easily carved out a nice role this year.
  19. Does it really matter though? The vast majority of the older guys will be goners in 2025, if not sooner.
  20. Kind of a weird one. I liked Thompson. Guess they really want a lefty in that pen in Crochet is getting stretched out.
  21. But plenty of handwringing when Cease was topping out at 91-92 first few days after reporting.
  22. Keith Law is just one guy. Not overly concerned with cherry picking certain farm system rankings for stuff like this. I love how some here are suddenly these Mena fans. I am sure the guy had some supporters here before the deal (I certainly liked him), but its not like he's some upside arm. Has fared OK being young for each level but a fastball that maxes out 91-92 as a 20 year old and a career WHIP over 1.4, including last year. He could very well end up being a serviceable back end SP. But we traded him for a guy that is already a serviceable OF that hits from the left side, something this roster could certainly use. Seems like a pretty basic baseball trade to me.
