  1. He is hitting .260 in his last 8 games. One multi-hit game. That is more the guy we thought he was. He is starting to expand his zone and swing at more garbage. Starting to K more. Outside of the HR in Boston, most of his contact lately has been weak. His magic wand is starting to falter. I like Yermin - he was a super fun little story line the first few weeks. It is obvious he can hit a bit. I don't in any way shape or form expect him to be a lineup mainstay for the next half decade, and nor should anyone else. I think the chances are higher than he is out of the league in a year than the chances he is getting every day MLB PAs by mid-2022. I would be happy to be wrong.
  2. True, I just think people who have preferred the Sox keep Dunning, and spend $ on a FA SP or two. Instead, we traded 6 years of Dunning for 1 year of an underpaid SP. And then we didn't even use those savings to upgrade the team in the meaningful way. I think its fair to cast criticism at the move. I hated it. Still don't love it. Happy to have Lynn as he is what the Sox need in a #2, but it sucks to have given up 6+ years of Dunning for just 1 season of him.
  3. Maybe, but he had 2 options left after this season and plenty of space between him and the cutline. He’s got at least another year IMO.
  4. Where Nick was drafted is somewhat irrelevant at this point, but it comes up all the time. Its akin to what you paid for something is somewhat irrelevant once you own it -- all that matters is what it is worth now. We can debate until the cows come home if Madrigal was a good pick with #4. But its pointless. He is here, and he is the 2B. You can not like him because he doesn't have a huge ceiling due to his skillset, but not liking him because of where he was drafted is silly. I still feel like Madrigal is great fit for this roster. We have a ton of free swingers and guys who K a ton. He adds nice balance. I was expecting better defense and I've been hard on Nick at times for his lack of defense so far in MLB, but he's looked much better recently and still feel he's the perfect complementary piece on this roster.
  5. Sort down or IL. Whatever he had going on with his thumb didn't look great.
  6. Is he still our hottest hitter? TA is that, probably. Yermin has 1 multi-hit game in his last 8. Hitting .259. Still been pretty solid, but reality is showing its face.
  7. Fair. He's played well since the shaky start though.
  8. I would have taken a split in Boston if you asked on Friday before the game. Get out there and try to get 2 in Cle.
  9. Seemed a tad early for the position player pitching IMO. 6 runs isn't impossible with 6 outs. Oh well. Was entertaining at least.
  10. Well hope Jose figures it out soon. He's a pretty easy out right now.
  11. I never really shared much of an opinion on an extension. He's a 1B/DH (at least we thought) that we could control for 7 seasons. Don't really see the point in extending Vaughn. I just would have started him at the alt site and called him up this coming weekend. Then we'd have the extra year. My stance was moreso if he is on the MLB roster, the dude should be playing most everyday. I still feel that way - but he's really scuffling, so I am OK with giving him a few more off days while he figures it out. He should still be playing some of the time, though. And his transition to LF has going very well IMO. He looks solid out there.
  12. The haters have piped down.
  13. Well, that is what happens when your 1st, 2nd and 3rd string LF get hurt, your 4th string is AAAA player that goes 0fer and the other guy getting LF reps is a 1B that hasn't played LF since middle school and looks totally overmatched at the plate. Engel will be back soon enough. I too was bitching about Vaughn not playing everyday a week or so ago, but man, he is overmatched right now. I am OK with Leury playing some LF every few days.
  14. I think Kopech is a different guy than he was in his early days with Boston. He doesn't seem to me to be a guy that would butt heads with teammates anymore. In any event, he looked great last night. Kopech has and remains the highest upside pitcher we have, and one of the highest in baseball. He has an upside as one the best SP in the game.
  15. I think the Sox would too. Which means Lynn probably is on the Sox if that’s their best offer.
  16. Just gonna make for a wildly unproductive work day. Which is rough for a Monday, for me anyways. At least with afternoon games you get half the work day under your belt. Thankfully not gonna be too many 10am weekday games.
  17. 10am on Monday baseball gets a big time woof from me.
  18. He looks good in LF. That’s about all the positive I have to say.
  19. My god dude. Relax. It’s 14 April games. The Sox look terrible right now - but blow it up? Lol GTFOH.
  20. Well, this is what happens when the guy you expected to be your cleanup hitter seriously injures himself trying to catch a ball he had 0% chance of catching in a ST game that didn't matter. Ideally, Grandal is batting 6th or 7th in this lineup. But with Eloy out, everyone gets shifted up.
  21. Lol, if I actually watch the games? GMAFB. I've watched literally probably 95% of all White Sox action since Grandal put on a White Sox jersey, and 80%+ over the last decade plus. Your problem is you just thought Grandal was a different type of hitter than he actually is. Career stat line: .239/.348/.443 2020 stat line with Sox: .230/.351/.422 2020 + 2021 Stat line with Sox: .215/.348/.398 In 2020, Grandal was literally the exact same guy he always has been. Just like I said. He doesn't hit for average, never has. Yes his shitty start to 2021 is weighing down his Sox average a bit, but I guarantee you he'll be in the .230-240 range at season's end. HE HAS 30 2021 AT BATS. THIRTY! Expecting a .240 career hitter to come in and suddenly start hitting .280+ isn't very wise. Grandal is frustrating player to watch in the batter's box. I get it. He strikes out a lot and isn't going to get a ton of a base hits. HOWEVER - The guy has an elite eye and OBP tool. He has power. His hit tool is below average. He is an above average defensive catcher. Add it all up, that is one of the best 3 catchers in the game. Don't like? I don't know what else to tell ya. I came into the Grandal era knowing what kind of player he was - therefore, I defend him from the clowns that constantly say he's suddenly terrible. He's the exact same catcher he has always been - and guess what - its a damn good one. Agree to disagree like we've done 100s of times on the topic, but the numbers are clear as day. Sorry you don't like numbers.
