  1. Nah, he sucked last year too. His peripherals have been trash for some time. I am being flippant of course, Colome would be a fine middle reliever for $5M. But he is not someone who should be closing games for a good team.
  2. I am not too concerned about the pen. I still think it'll be really good. But yesterday never should have been a 1 run game. Sox should have been up 5-6 runnings by the middle innings. Their lacks of offensive execution is why the lost the game, not because Santana ran into one against Hendriks.
  3. No panic at this, but this team has not played good baseball at all. Offense is anemic right now. Getting TA back helps, and hopefully Moncada snaps out of it. Not to get all Parkman, but this just isn't the same team without Eloy in the middle of the lineup.
  4. Or...much more likely...its a product of a small sample size and guy who makes frequent contact, and he's more like a .250 hitter. The Yermin start is awesome and I hope he keeps it up, but if he's hitting over .300 by mid-May I'd be astonished. The Sox should absolutely ride him while it lasts, but Vaughn should be in LF the days Yermin is at DH. We've been starting Billy Fucking Hamilton and Nick Fucking Williams. Not exactly pieces of the future and guys who are incredibly unlikely to be in the organization in 30-60 days.
  5. Right, but a lot of the questions you asked were questions we knew the answer to prior to opening day. Yet he still made the roster. Obviously Mercedes having a monster start makes DH at bats a little harder to come by, but the Sox shouldn't be sacrificing their top prospect for Yermin. If Vaughn isn't going to play everyday, he shouldn't be on the big league roster. I think we agree on that - but I'd be pretty surprised to see Vaughn get demoted. Billy Hamilton, Nick Williams and to a lesser extent Adam Engel are not good reasons to sit Vaughn on the bench.
  6. Is he on the major league roster? ? Have the Sox treated any other top prospect in the manner? Was he expected to be an OF defense contributor or provide have defensive versatility prior to the season starting? Is Mercedes the next coming of Hank Aaron? See, I can play that game too. You may be right that they send Vaughn down. Honestly, if they're not going to play him everyday, I think they should do just that. But I don't think we have anywhere near enough evidence to indicate that is their plan. It would be very "un-White Sox".
  7. You seem awfully confident about this when there is really no evidence this is their plan, nor have they acted similarly with other top prospects in the recent past.
  8. Well, he should be in the lineup at least 80-90% of the time. Not 50% or less like he has been. If he needs to be at DH, so be it. Mercedes takes a seat. Vaughn plays 3-4 days as week is a joke. I never wanted him to break camp with the Sox because 162 is always >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than 15. But if he is on the roster, the guys needs to be in the fucking lineup. I really have a hard time believing Hahn supports this.
  9. That doesn't look like a graphic that can from the Sox, rather from WGN9News.
  10. This Vaughn this makes zero sense. We're already like 1.5 weeks away from just getting an extra year if we just sent him to the alt site out of ST and the guy has all of 17 PA. Its an absolute fucking joke. TLR Is going to blow a year of service for like 35 PA.
  11. I think it’s the defense that is getting him a short leash with (most) fans. He’s just been flat bad at 2B in the bigs and has cost us in some huge spots. Including basically losing us a playoff game. So yeah, while I personally am more than happy to keep running him out there and truly do think he’ll be fine, but the criticism is warranted.
  12. Who should be batting cleanup then? if you say Jose, please let me see the rest of the lineup. Grandal is our best option at 4 for the time being. Much prefer him there than Moncada.
  13. I think the bat will be fine. I still expect a .290+ hitter annually. He's never going to hit for power, nor will I ever expect it. But the defense has been shockingly bad. The guy just seems so tense and like he isn't have any fun. Needs to just relax and play the game.
  14. Not really. Its actually exactly where he should be with Eloy out. Moncada is not a clean up hitter.
  15. I don't think the front office handed him an MLB deal to be cut 2 series in without an appearance.
  16. I'd say just give him until Saturday with the Friday off day.
  17. I guess if they're looking to get Lamb a start in LF wouldn't be a horrible day for it. If Lamb isn't going to occasionally cover LF, and I don't see what purpose he serves on this roster. 5 games in and he's yet to be used when its abundantly obvious we need another middle infielder.
  18. Encouraging game from Luis last night after the first 2 Ks. Hope to see it again tonight!
  19. I'd like to see Collins get another start today. He looked good at the plate yesterday. Wish Moncada could cover SS for today as I'd love to get Leury out of the lineup but I just don't see that happening. Here is how I would line em' up today: Eaton RF, Moncada SS, Abreu 1B, Grandal C, Collins DH, Robert CF, Vaughn LF, Lamb 3B, Madrigal 2B How I think TLR will line them up: Madrigal 2B, Eaton RF, Abreu 1B, Moncada 3B, Grandal C, Robert CF, Collins DH, Vaugh LF, Leury SS
  20. Happy to eat crow on Collins starting today. Nice poke!!!
  21. Sure, but I've held by breath everytime a ball has gone into LF since Eloy came into the league. So nothing new. I don't think its a stretch at all to think Vaughn could actually be a better LF than Eloy ALREADY. Grandal on the bench today makes no sense. Collins can't hit lefties. Use him tomorrow. Stupid.
