  1. Have you listened to it? I am not carrying any water. I am reporting what I heard, when I actually took the 5 mins to listen.
  2. FWIW - I just listened to the radio bit with Eaton. He didn't hang up and was respectful. Just didn't care to answer the third question in a row about TLR. Wasn't nearly as bad as some people here are making it out to be.
  3. Yeah, we don't really need a superstar RF. We need a superstar SP. I get why you don't love it, but I think you're being a tad irrational here and Joc isn't really any better of an option. Short of Springer or a trade emptying the farm, there were not a ton of excellent options and Eaton was right there with Joc as the "best of the rest".
  4. Yeah, we definitely need another guy who can play OF for stretches. Give me Marwin Gonzalez.
  5. .365 career OBP with Washington. That would have been good for 2nd on the Sox last season. .279/.365/.427 good for 2.3 fWAR in 2019. Hasn't been good in years is just wrong. Yeah, he was bad in a shortened 2020. Which is why he could be had for 1/$7M.
  6. Worse than who? Certainly not worse than anyone else we've been throwing out there. The only guy you could point to (besides Springer) that you can make an argument is a better fit is Joc. And that is no slam dunk. Joc is coming off a .190/.285/.395 season good for -0.1 fWAR. Eaton wasn't any better in 2020, but its not like Joc was some home run signing. The rest of the options suck balls at defense.
  7. Why? He's a great fit. Besides the fact this takes out of Springer for sure, its a good on field move. Here is to hoping Eaton has matured a bit since he left.
  8. I think this is patently false, especially since the Sox were interested in Lynn prior to 2020 White Sox manager TLR being a twinkle in JR's eye. I don't doubt that TLR had good things to say about a potential Lynn acquisition, but to say the Sox wouldn't have been interested in Lynn without TLR is likely a big reach, considering what we know.
  9. He is still likely a meaningfully better defensive RF than Joc, and certainly Brantley. And there is an ocean between Eaton in RF and what we've ran out there since we traded him.
  10. I've mentioned this here before, but I really like the idea of brining in two bats. Start with Joc or Eaton and then add add another guy like Dahl. Let's Eloy spend more time at DH and gives us insurance because our OF tends to get a little injured. Another guy that could make sense as that secondary piece is Marwin Gonzalez. He can play everywhere and would help bridge the gap to Vaughn arriving, and give Sox an insurance policy all around the diamond. Should be relatively cheap, too.
  11. I think I might actually prefer Eaton to Joc. Either would be fine, I guess. Putting aside Eaton being a dbag, he's a pretty good fit for RF.
  12. A great move would have been signing Trevor Bauer and not giving up 6 years of a guy who is likely a coinflip to be just as good as Lynn down the road. I agree we're better in 2021 than we were this time yesterday. I've said that multiple times. I just think this move is a clear signal, and I fucking hate what it represents.
  13. It’s a major win for Jerry’s bottom line. A major win for the white Sox would be signing Trevor Bauer. If the Sox use the savings they get from Lynn to sign Springer or Bauer, then I’ll shut up. But that’s not happening. They’ll go cheap with the rest of the roster, because it’s what they’ve always done. Trading cheap controllable assets for 1 year stop gaps goes against everything we’ve been told for years and certainly isn’t congruent with setting the club up for “sustain success” and a “multiple championship window”.
  14. I’m good with Quintana. I like the guy and I think he’ll be a rock solid 4/5. But in totality, the Lynn trade + Q + Joc makes me sick. Just more of the same BS from the Sox right when they’re on the precipice of greatness they get in their own way. Just spend some fucking money on more than role players you cowards. And don’t trade long term assets for 1 year fixes. Hahn preached this for years, and now I’m supposed to like a deal when he does the opposite?
  15. Am I crazy or did someone mention Weems earlier tonight?
  16. I don’t think anyone really is saying the sky is falling. It’s just a poor value move and further exhibits the Sox unwillingness to just spend money rather than using valuable assets to acquire underpaid players. It’s gross.
  17. Because national writers generally don’t speculate.
  18. It makes us more than marginally better in 21. But the long term value is definitely much better for the Rangers.
  19. A Dunning + for Lynn, Joc and Quintana offseason is so on brand. Makes me want to vomit.
  20. The fact that he’s a FA in a year and Sox could have just signed him then.
