  1. I also agree on Collins. I get it kind of looks like a black hole right now, and I don't HATE the idea of just sending Collins to AAA if you have EE around, but you should be able to find a bat midseason for minimal cost if Collins flops. I still really like the Grandal/Collins/McCann/Abreu C/DH/1B combo. I don't see the reason to panic and go away from that. Though, like I said, having someone like EE around for a cheap 1 year deal is hard to just ignore.
  2. And sit Abreu or Grandal? Grandal can't catch 150 games. I am all for improving team defense, but any scenario where Adam Engel is getting regular starts withOUT multiple injuries is not a scenario I want to get behind.
  3. I like the way the lineup looks with EE and I cannot deny he'd be nice to have around. But he still makes things crowded. Grandal should be at 1B/DH against LHP when McCann starts, and Abreu should be in the lineup against LHP. At some point you're sitting really good sticks because they have no where to play. Someone who could play RF would be ideal.
  4. Trade away assets. Twins are in a tough spot. I don't think they had a ton of interest in Keuchel, but they're quite simply running out of options.
  5. I said anything 3/$55M or less and I’d be pleased. I am in fact pleased. This is a nice signing and hopefully we can get solid mid rotation work out of him for at least 2020-2021. Nice deal Sox!
  6. Hope it’s true. Not a huge Keuchel guy, but 3/$55M or less and I’d be pretty pleased.
  7. Meh, I kinda took it as a WSD having a few and feeling like posting a random DM.
  8. Assuming contracts are not an issue, Trout and Cole has to be the answer. edit: should have read full post. Give me Soto instead I suppose.
  9. I wouldn’t characterize the Sox as doing everything they can do to compete in 2020. Nor should they. I think the Sox would like to put themselves in a position that if a bunch of stuff went right they could win the ALC in 2020. But 2020 is still about the future, and many Sox fans just don’t have the patience for it. I get it, it’s tough. But I personally care just as much about 2025 and 2026 as I do about 2020. Kopech isn’t throwing a full season any way you slice it. I’d rather get 125 really solid rust-less innings from him from Memorial Day on than deal with short starts on pitch counts in shitty weather in April just to shut him down in August. To me, it’s not even remotely close to a decision point.
  10. I love how people think Kopech has this earned right to just be anointed a rotation spot. Make the dude earn it. He just had a serious arm operation and isn’t a veteran. Also if Kopech just was thrown into the fire without lower pitch counts counts right out of ST, that be idiotic of the organization from a health and development standpoint. Let the guy get into game shape in the minors. Get the year back. We’re talking about like 25 innings people.
  11. $4.5M with $1M in incentives. $7M option for 21 with $500k buyout. Home run terms.
  12. The team won’t announce Officially until he takes the physical. But I do think it’s strange we haven’t heard anything from reporters on dollar amount.
  13. I love the guy. But he is a bit of a softie. Hope that changes as he matures.
  14. I will believe Yoan is able to play 155+ games when I see it.
  15. Even if you project Robert and Madrigal to be 4 WAR players in their rookie seasons (which is incredibly generous), and assume replacement level players are replacing them in the meantime, we're talking about less than 1 win during that timeframe. Punting a year of control on Robert and Madrigal for a couple weeks of games is so incredibly shortsighted at this point. Try to take the long view on things.
  16. I imagine the Sox have the sights set a little higher than Alex Wood on the final SP add at this point. Plenty of payroll space - should be around $92-93M range assuming Gio is in the $4-6M range.
  17. Not yet. Also surprised nothing has leaked on that, but I would be surprised if its more than $6M.
  18. Unless he is like god awful, I think the Sox will give Cease all of 2020 in the rotation.
  19. Does Arenado really even have much surplus value?
  20. Honestly, I am fine trading Vaughn if the return is mid to top rotation pre-arb or arb1 SP. Not exactly sure who would fit that description that could be available tho. Trading Madrigal makes zero sense.
  21. Gio is actually covered by CAA not Boras.
  22. David Price by himself is worth about -$50M.
  23. Had to step away for awhile. No word on dollars yet? Looks like 1 year deal has been confirmed.
