  1. Imagine being a Twins fan right now. The Twins are smack in the middle of their window and are being equally as cheap as the Sox. Can't wait for that team to crash back to earth in 2020.
  2. Not really struggling, I just don't really think we'll see him hit 25+ homers. I think 15-18 range. Something like .275/.315/.450 sounds about right for his rookie year. Hope he walks a little more than he's shown in the minors. But plugging that in CF with + defense is such a huge step in the right direction. I definitely think he'll put up better slash lines as he matures, but hitting mlb pitching is really hard.
  3. Mazara. I'd be surprised if Robert will hit more than 20 homers in the bigs next season.
  4. I would be HAMMERING the over on 34 Eloy homers.
  5. Mazara is a considerably better defender than Castellanos. Castellanos is a poor defender. Mazara is merely average.
  6. Smoak nothing exciting, but super cheap deal. $4M in 2020 with a $1M buyout on a $5.5M team option for 21.
  7. @Y2Jimmy insinuating on Twitter earlier that Sox also had a “significant” offer out to Miley. But he wanted to be with former pitching coach.
  8. I am not one to get worked up about minor league deals, but I hope this guy doesn't throw a pitch for the 2020 White Sox.
  9. And will likely remain as such until 2021.
  10. Just a suggestion. A guy on a market rate deal for 1 season doesn't exactly have a boatload of value either. But yah, I agree...the Cubs aren't going to give him away.
  11. As painful as it is, I think you wait out the market on Ryu on 3/$60M or less or Keuchel at 3/$55M or less. If someone gives them 4, you put bandaids on it for a year. Trade something like Sheets or Gonzalez for Q, sign Wood or Teheran and call it a day. Don't particularly see why they haven't at least added the 1 year backend guy yet though. Seems to me it may take them look a little less desperate.
  12. Will Harris will turn 36 during the 2020 season. He will probably require a 3 year deal. He's been really good, but if he requires a three year deal....WOOF.
  13. Yah, its certainly not exciting, but at least have some young arms that could turn into something. Frankly the FA market for pen arms is disgustingly bad, so for better or worse, I think the Sox basically plan to stick with internal options.
  14. I think Vaughn + Madrigal, maybe with a lottery pick would be about as good of a package as the Rays could hope for in return for Snell. Not saying I'd be banging down their door to make the trade if I am Hahn, but it seems fair. I am sure they'd want Robert, but they're not getting him.
  15. I guess I could too, but I don't really see a Price/Beni deal as remotely realistic.
  16. If the Sox add a 2B and a DH option, do you think Collins just starts in AAA? Not sure how he fits into the mix at all if we add a DH option.
  17. I wouldn't have a single qualm in the world with a 3/$54M deal for Keuchel. I just don't see it as super likely.
  18. At least Keuchel is a ground ball machine. Bumgarner is a flyball pitcher. TERRIBLE fit for our ballpark.
  19. I don't think those guys are getting two years. Disagree all you'd like on Kopech - it is what is going to happen, so best to prepare yourself. The guy has a limited amount of innings he'll be able to pitch in 2020, and I'd rather them occur from June-September than April-July. Getting the year back is gravy.
  20. Mazara isn't a plus RF by any means, but he's not awful. Merely average, or slightly below. The narrative that he is awful out there has a been a bit overblown. Leury and Engel are going to be his platoonmates anyway.
  21. I think the pen is mostly set. Maybe 1 signing, but not really room for much else. Colome, Bummer, Fry, Herrera, Marshall, and Cordero are all mostly set. Hamilton, Burdi, Foster, Gurrerro, Ruiz, and Fulmer and battling for the last spot. I think Sox expect Hamilton and Burdi to be in the pen for most of the season. Also worth noting that Fulmer, Cordero, and Guerrero are all out of options.
  22. I am not sure if Walker will be an milb guy, but I'd have to imagine the Sox will be a pretty popular choice among SP for milb deals. They look at the rotation and see two giant openings on a young team with a chance to develop. Seems like a good opportunity.
  23. Covey will not be starting games for the White Sox unless people get injured. I promise you. Wost case, they'll sign 2 of Gio Gonzalez, Alex Wood, Julio Tehran, Collin McHugh, Nova, or Smyly before they give Covey any 2020 starts.
