  1. The one thing to keep in mind is that the Twins are in equally as tough of a spot as the Sox SP-wise - they still need at least 2 SP - and the Indians are looking to trade their two best players in Lindor and Kluber. This division is wide TF open. I think the Sox would be just as well or better positioned to add Ryu and Keuchel than the Twins. I doubt MadBum leaves California with LAA's pitching needs - I personally don't want him very much, but was hoping Twins would overpay for him.
  2. Yah, I really don't think Ozuna/Castellanos are in the cards, and personally I prefer that. But at least go sign Ryu, a vet pen arm, and a back end SP. Honestly, I am fine the with Mazara/Leury/Engel platoon for 1 season. Probably a pipedream, but Betts and Springer in RF long term is a fuck load better than Ozuna/Castellanos, and at this juncture, we're still going to have a fuckton of money to spend next offseason. Tough to count on that at this point, but I think its pretty obvious the Sox want the last major piece of the puzzle moving forward to be a good fit, and not a forced fit.
  3. I think its less about the trade itself, and more about settling for a pretty meh player in RF. If the Sox had signed Wheeler, or even Ozuna, I don't think most posters would give a rip about rolling the dice on Mazara as a platoon bat. Its the order of moves that has everyone frazzled, and the fact they came about and pretty much said he's the RF next year. Which obviously is what they were going to say regardless of whoever was acquired.
  4. Yah - I mean, I didn't hear whatever fathom is referring to. Just relying what I heard from Boras on Tuesday. The top end guys we're never happening. But hopefully Sox still in contact on Ryu. Ryu would still be the best move they can make on the FA market right now, and he's still available.
  5. Boras literally said the opposite in his media scrum on Tuesday. Something like - "I've spent a lot of time on the phone with the White Sox last several days. They're being very aggressive."
  6. More to it than service time, that is a just a benfit to handling this the proper way.
  7. Yah - those guys are available next year. Will the Sox get em? Probably not, but it makes sense.
  8. Could have? Sure. The guys is an elite defensive 3B though, and has maybe never played OF since he was a kid. Definitely hasn't as a pro. The Sox were never going to sign Rendon, but yah, would have been fun.
  9. Technically, spending the money as best as possible would be on SP and RF. The Sox have a 3B and a 2B. I hear ya tho.
  10. ChiSoxMike stole your like on twitter!
  11. The Abreu contract, while absolutely horrible, actually decreased his salary in 2020.
  12. Same. They were never moving Moncada again.
  13. There had been exactly 2 contracts over $250M in the history of baseball 10 months ago. Still as of right now, only 10 contracts over $210M in the history of the game. Sometimes context is important.
  14. Wait really? Where’s did you see that?
  15. This should be good https://twitter.com/threetwoeephus/status/1204940825236393984?s=21
  16. I mean, it looks like these are the types of risks the Sox may have to take if they can’t get FA to take super legitimate offers. But I agree - really not my favorite route unless it’s seemingly too good to be true.
  17. If the Red Sox are sending along like $30M, I'd be a lot more interested than if they're not. Price at $32M AAV is crazy. Getting Benintendi would be great. Happy to give them Mazara in the deal - no idea if that is something they would even entertain. Hard to know what the prospect package they would expect with covering ~33% of his deal. I would think others teams would be interested if they're willing to prorate his deal to that degree. Interesting potential deal, but just feels like too many moving parts to see it realistically coming to fruition.
  18. Lol, your posting act is lacking. Why even bother with this team - and more importantly why spend so much of your time trying to convince a group of fans that everything about the organization they love is a joke? You have yet to see me "defend" the Mazara move - I've said he's better than backing up the brinks truck every two weeks for 5 years for shitty RF options on the FA market. He's a flier. It's gross, but they could have certainly done worse. I've told you at least 3 times today I wouldn't have made this move at this junture. But its also an enormous upgrade over what we had (which anything frankly would be), and the world is not ending.
  19. Lol, he is an incredibly interesting guy a $3M AAV. You don't even need him to be very good to come out ahead on that deal.
  20. Rabbit comes in with the cold bath of water. RIP unrealistic mega deal in which we acquire Price + Sale + Benintendi for a hot dog vendor, Abreu's next bulk shipment of Redman, Moan4Yoan and Blake Rutherford. I was excited.
