  1. Maybe said players who keep getting hurt doing a simple thing like running need to look at themselves in the mirror first. They are getting paid millions of dollars, there's no excuse why they can't hustle AND not hurt themselves. Other players can do it. They need to reexamine their training and conditioning methods and so do the Sox organization in general. But after this year it won't matter, they'll be someone elses problem.
  2. Another soft tissue injury running the bases by a guy who is built like a Greek God. Ozzie was right, fat doesn't pull. The three stooges, Moncada, Jimenez and Robert. All you can do is laugh. SS2K5 is right this entire operation needs to be burned down to the ground starting with new ownership. Until then the baseball gods are going to keep shitting on it and by proxy the fan base.
  3. True but remember JR's motto "fiscal responsibility." (They'll waste millions on stiffs, has-been's, retreads and injury prone guys...but not one dime on superstar players!)
  4. Actually it was the induction into the Idaho State Athletic Sports Hall of Fame with the Lifetime Achievement Award. 😉
  5. True...I should have posted that in a separate category. But then again nothing is impossible with this bunch is it?
  6. I'm assuming you said the last part with a straight face. 😆
  7. That improved defense has made six errors in the last two games.
  8. Not possible, the minority owners have no say in the running of the franchise. It is specifically written into JR's contract. He can only be removed if he is found guilty of illegal activities or financial malfeasance or if illness/injury makes him unable to fulfill his duties. An example: If all the minority partners want to sell but JR says "no" the team isn't sold. Period.
  9. By the Sox: 10 games: 0-10 (1968) 15 games: 3-12 (3X - last in 1968) 20 games: 4-16 (2X - last in 1948) 25 games: 5-20 (2X - last in 1950) 30 games: 7-23 (1948) All seem to be within reach.
  10. I said my guess was he'd be fired around Memorial Day and I stand by that speculation. Someone is going to be made the fall guy and it's not going to be JR or Getz.
  11. Just wondering WBWSF...are the Sox still going to have a good season? 🙂 Sorry...just had to do it!
  12. That is exactly what he has said that he has told his family on the rare times he has publicly spoken about it.
  13. DVS with the post game carnage report. You get the sense he's already tired of watching this garbage: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/04/08/white-sox-shut-out-for-fourth-time-in-10-games-fall-to-1-9-with-loss-to-guardians
  14. Anything is possible I guess but I have a hard time thinking he's selling given the capital gains and state income tax hits along with his rare comments of what he said he is going to do and what he's told his family.
  15. I don't think they are at all in this regard. Still getting a lot of money from the domestic and international revenue streams.
  16. Spoke to CBS SportsLine on a number of topics. Didn't talk about the White Sox save for this one mention: "Any offseason it's always something. It could be the littlest thing like when I was with the White Sox it was 'oh, we're recovering from the COVID pandemic, so we just don't have any money coming in.' We all know that was somewhat true but also bullshit at the same time. Some teams are willing to pay. It's just others are looking for an excuse to scare guys into taking less than they're worth and that's all it is." https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/liam-hendriks-opens-up-about-another-comeback-signing-with-red-sox-bulls-of-mlb-free-agency-and-more/
  17. Actually Taylor I'm very happy. My wife and I paid off our house in June, in February I was elected to the Idaho State Athletic Hall of Fame given the Lifetime Achievement Award, I've had a long and rewarding career in the sports media particularly in TV and radio and my wife has a very good position at Virginia Transformer here in town. But please feel free to think what you will. 🙂
  18. He's not selling so we have to make the best of the situation, bide our time and hope for new ownership.
  19. For what it's worth again on the post game show Ozzie said he does not want to manage.
  20. I agree but would Getz be willing to admit so early in his tenure that he and his staff made a number of major miscalculations? Which also cost JR more wasted money? I can't see that right now. His ego may not be as big as JR's, Williams and Hahn's was but he's got one and to make radical changes now, regardless of how bad it is getting admits a major screw up. That's hard for people to admit to themselves that they blew it.
  21. DVS has a story out now where he spoke with Crochet who said it's time for the Sox to start getting angry. Don't know if that will do any good or what may be going on in the clubhouse that caused Crochet to say that. (The assumption is that maybe things are to laid-back right now causing him to say that.) You also wonder if Grifol has already lost the clubhouse.
  22. Jeff Torborg called me yesterday afternoon and we talked for about an hour. One of the things he was wondering was why would the Sox want to emulate the Royals and bring in all of their people since they aren't a good organization. I told him I have no idea, it doesn't make any sense. You want to copy someone? Copy the Yankees, Braves, Cardinals, Tampa, Dodgers...organizations that know how to win. Hire those front office staffs, scouts, medical, training staffs et al.
  23. It will be interesting if Getz talks with the media on the next homestand.
  24. DVS's post game autopsy. Includes more Pearls of Wisdom from Grifol: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/04/07/just-when-going-gets-tough-it-gets-even-tougher-for-white-sox-lineup
  25. 1-10 RISP 3 errors Not that it really matters but this is the second game where the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost. Don't stop now boys!
