  1. For those who get the Tribune: https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/04/12/chicago-white-sox-chris-getz-2/ And I have heard that Chris Boden from WGN-TV asked Getz yesterday how this awful starts jibes with JR saying Getz was hired to turn this situation around quickly because he didn't want to waste a year. I never did hear how he answered that question, if anyone out there did, I'd be curious how Getz responded.
  2. Fegan wrote it actually looked like only half that showed up.
  3. To your points: On the rare times he has spoken about it JR has said he has told his family to keep the Bulls and sell the Sox. The Bulls make money he said because of the salary cap. (Personally until he opens his books and lets an independent accountant examine them I don't think for a second he's lost money with the White Sox) JR is the managing partner and is in control of all day to day operations. The minority owners literally have no say in anything including if the team is sold. It's only sold if JR wants it to be sold. As has been written about, because of the capital gains tax hit (approximately 200 million dollars on a two billion dollar sale of the Sox) AND the Illinois state tax hit, JR will never sell the franchise while he is alive, simple as that.
  4. “Like most people, you’d like to win ball games, so it’s disappointing when we don’t get wins, but from a big-picture standpoint I want to feel like we’re on the right track.” -- Chris Getz. 😆
  5. The funny thing is when Getz met the media this afternoon (I watched it on You Tube) he said one of the reasons Shaw was cut was because Anderson was pitching so well in Charlotte and deserved an opportunity. So... 😆
  6. Time to call JR's bluff and tell him we'll find a way as soon as you publicly say you are going to kick up __ millions of dollars.
  7. Getting both of them back won't do a damn thing, they'll be hopelessly DOA in last place. Maybe they can get something for them at the deadline if they don't hurt themselves again along with Jimenez.
  8. This is a fascinating article on the guy who actually owns the land the Sox are trying to get funding for to build a new stadium. Has been denied entry into the U.S. multiple times as well as being convicted of crimes both in France and Iran: https://chicago.suntimes.com/the-watchdogs/2024/04/11/nadhmi-auchi-iraqi-billionaire-jerry-reinsdorf-related-midwest-78-white-sox-ballpark
  9. There are a lot of Sox fans including Nancy Faust who feel the exact same way as you do.

  11. Good point but to be fair Keppinger had a bad shoulder (Hahn signed him anyway)
  12. Dan Evans was with the Dodgers after he left the Sox. Going back Roland Hemond took over as GM of the Orioles and won an Executive of the Year Award and of course Dave Dombrowski who Hawk fired because he was Roland's protegee has had great success with numerous organizations.
  13. "Really, really tough loss," Grifol said. "There were some opportunities we didn’t capitalize on. We have to fight and get better with runners in scoring position." 😆 No kidding Sherlock!
  14. I'd be surprised if Ozzie took it especially during this supposed "good year" according to some fans. 😉 Just recently he said on the post game show he doesn't want to manage again. Even Ozzie wouldn't want to be a part of this clown show. They'd name one of the assistant coaches to take over. Grifol = Memorial Day,
  15. "Asked Tuesday about possible external additions to the lineup, general manager Chris Getz on Tuesday said it was “easier said than done.” 😆
  16. 3rd game this season Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost. 3-15 runners in scoring position. Hope Getz got an eyeful watching this team of buffoons try to play baseball.
  17. You really wonder if in their heart of hearts some of the players are already thinking, "Please let me play well so I can get traded at the deadline to a good organization..."
  18. But remember last August JR said he hired Getz because he didn't want to waste a year with a newcomer having to learn everything. 😆
  19. They could all retire tomorrow and be financially set for the rest of their lives. We should all have their issues.
  20. It's really not mind numbing, he's making a lot of money.
  21. It was done two years ago under Hahn's direction. The results were never revealed publicly. This past year they placed an ad for a biomechanics expert as well as a sleep-expert (for wont of a better word). Alan Thomas, Dale Torborg and a number of other people were fired. I had heard Thomas disagreed with the results of the Sox injury study conducted last winter which was never released to the media or public. I was told he felt the Sox issues were only caused by the COVID restrictions. “The Sox play checkers where others teams play chess” when it comes to injury prevention, conditioning, nutrition, sleep schedules is a phrase I had heard mentioned.
  22. Half of this pitching staff won't be here next year, and of the eight players you mentioned given the history of this organization at development it would be a major get if two of those guys hit it big in the major leagues. Sorry, there's no way unless the things I mentioned happened, this team will be good in three years time...and you mention the bad division, if the "goal" is to win the crappy A.L. Central which the Sox should absolutely be dominating given their inherent advantages, I guess anything is possible. But playing with the "big boys" in baseball? You must be joking.
  23. Wish him well in his next stop. Won't miss him at all. Garfien in his podcast that dropped Monday was saying that he noticed Moncada did something in spring training. On the post game last night he was asking Ozzie who he thought was to blame for the constant injuries and Ozzie said the players because instead of baseball workouts they are working out to "look good." Regarding the issues with the medical/training staff this is what I was told by sources in November 2022: On the constant injuries “Alan Thomas (Author’s Note: Thomas was the Director of Strength and Conditioning) was let go because his son was draft eligible and he was told the Sox no longer wanted to draft sons of members of the organization. Turns out his kid is playing center field for the Diamondbacks. I’m not saying he’d be playing center field for us but he’s good enough to be in the Major Leagues. I don’t know the new guy they brought in, but guys are getting hurt left and right.” (Author’s Note: I had heard Thomas disagreed with the results of the Sox injury study conducted last winter which was never released to the media or public. I was told he felt the Sox issues were only caused by the COVID restrictions. “The Sox play checkers where others teams play chess” when it comes to injury prevention, conditioning, nutrition, sleep schedules is a phrase I had heard mentioned.) “The White Sox playing shorthanded started in 2007 when Jermaine Dye got hurt and Kenny Williams refused to call up Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. Maybe they were cheap, maybe they wanted to protect Herm’s record of keeping guys off the DL.” (Author’s Note: Herm Schneider was the Sox longtime head trainer and for years the Sox were among the league leaders in keeping players healthy.) “Jake Peavy made the comment one time, ‘They have no reservations about playing shorthanded.” “You know about Mike Reinold right? (Author’s Note: Reinold is the White Sox Senior Medical Advisor) He was fired by the Red Sox because he was injecting players with Toradol.” (Author’s Note: Bleacher Report had a story on this situation published in February 2013. Here is the link to that story: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1530943-ex-red-sox-trainer-mike-reinold-injected-players-with-controversial-substance) “Given the inordinate amount of soft-tissue injuries they have had you’d think that they would do a complete change in the training, conditioning and nutritional areas.” Bottom line as SS5K keeps saying this organization needs to be blown up from top to bottom and start over.
